THE EIGHT-POINTED STAR AS THE STAR OF MELCHIZEDEK

Melchizedek is Shem (son of Noah) and he is also the prototype of the Savior.  See Hebrews Ch 7 (click link for more info)  - and check out the JST on that.  It is a little clunky and confusing if you rely only on the KJV.

Just had a friend from Cardston send a link to this article - as well as many confirming comments on the previous article on the Indianapolis Temple.  It nails down the connection in our temples (including Indianapolis) to that of Melchizedek.  The lady who asked a GA (Seventy, I think) who said it was just a nice decoration in the Indianapolis Temple terrestrial endowment room, was simply wrong on the matter.

Me-thinks someone was trying to reinforce the idea of higher nature of what goes on in that room......

This site is chock full of good stuff:

  1. The star you mention is also seen at the entrance doors of the slc temple and on the walls of the Mex temple

  2. Perform "due diligence" on this article. I did and after researching leading Church sources - decided it was conjecture. My biggest turn-off was the fact the person giving the information had a line of "Star/medallion of Melchizedek" jewelry! Ldsliving and Meridian (church oriented) magazines have some good articles but do not take the place of scripture or the GAs.

  3. WOW! I am so relieved it is only Melchezedek because all of the articles I had researched had shown it was extremely, pagan and that was part of the reason Jerusalem was allowed to be destroyed. This star was associated with Babylon and with the greed Goddess Aphrodite. http://mysteryoftheiniquity.com/2014/01/14/the-8-pointed-star-symbol/

Her cult may have involved sacred prostitution,[4] though this is debatable. Guirand referred to her holy city Uruk as the "town of the sacred courtesans" and to her as the "courtesan of the gods".[2]

Also is similar to the groves discussed in the Book of Jasher.

So glad all these eight-pointed stars are not these. ;)

    1. Dont care for your sarcasm, anonymous. It's no mystery that pagans adopt sacred symbols and rituals because of the power behind them. They don't get that the power comes from righteous living and God's will. Satan uses many sacred symbols to deceive. And I highly doubt the leaders are going to plaster a "pagan" symbol all over the sacred temples. A lot of thought and research goes into the temple designs.
