CALL TO DESTROY THE SECRET COMBINATIONS AMONG US

The secret combinations among us must be destroyed - or it will bring down this entire nation.  While this is not a political blog - the line between politics and spiritual matters is often blurred because nothing that is temporal was not first created or conceived spiritually.  They are intertwined - one cannot be touched on without touching the other one.  This is from a Facebook post from a group called "Latter Day Saints for Ron Paul" and this commenter relies heavily on quotes from President Ezra Taft Benson - which I heavily endorse!

I too, have to plead guilty of being a bit of a "conspiracy" kook on this one, as a prior poster has said they are. There is a malignant thing behind the scenes, and we have good history documenting just such evil.

Congressman Larry McDonald, a John Birch Society guy, super well informed, was murdered by the Establishment Moneychangers (who bankroll[ed] Communism all over the globe---with US Taxpayer support, of course. His message was much too potent for it to be tolerated. He pulled the curtain back on the FED for all to see how wrong it was, and that it was private. Yes, they "disappeared" him into oblivion, along with the rest of that flight from South Korea on a Boeing 747 in the early 1980's. Amazingly, the media just couldn't report who it was that was aboard that flight---a Congressman deeply hated by the CFR Moneychangers. The report was that it was shot down by the Russians for going into their airspace, but indeed that was the cover for something even more sinister. It was forced to land on an island, according to John Birch Society people who have sent and shared articles, and it's crew and passengers were never heard or seen again, for they had been "shot down." The plane however was never found, nor it's wreckage, nor bodies, nor anything whatsoever. (I should go find links and articles, but I won't now, people can go look themselves for the info.)

Then there was a congressman from idaho, I've heard people talk of how they set him up, he was a vocal opponent to the fed, and they destroyed his life and he spent most of his last years in Prison and they tortured him there brutally, destroying his ability to walk correctly and his health was a shambles as a result of the brutality and abuse. I'll have to go re-read and freshen up on details. Congressman Hansen, I think it was?

Gary North speaks of a conversation with W. Cleon Skousen talking about Reagan having the CFR Moneychangers bringing him to heel, letting him know that if he did not choose G. H. W. Bush as his running mate, he would never see the White House as President. And what happened at the RNC in 1980 when Reagan announced CFR Bush as VP? People were stunned. Bush had been a vicious opponent to Reagan, a very harsh critic, and then at the last minute, Reagan would be stupid enough to choose this monstrous man as his VP? This was the "voodoo economics" guy who trashed Reagan constantly, a man who was CIA director, and we even have evidence was part of the nasty operation in the Kennedy assassination. (I hope I'm not opening up too many cans of worms here, there are books and documentaries on all these topics.)

Then, the globalists shot Reagan and miraculously he survived. With that bullet, they had given him warning and put him on alert, he was not in the driver seat. It was the CFR who surrounded him along with his VP who were running the show, along with the shadow government behind the scenes.

And who runs the shadow government of the Moneychangers? Well, here we have the real statement---a statement that a friend shared in his Highland, Utah ward back in the Bush years which upset many in the combined Priesthood and Relief Society meeting where he, as High Preist Groupleader gave the lesson:

“The United States is not the kingdom of God, neither is England, Germany, or France….Satan has control now. No matter where you look, he is in control, even in our own land. He is guiding the governments as far as the Lord will permit him. That is why there is so much strife, turmoil, and confusion all over the earth. One master mind is governing the nations….it is Satan himself.” (Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, Vol. 3, pp 314–15)

Today, this "secret combination" that seeks the overthrow of all nations, lands and countries has had over 25 years of strengthening since Ezra Taft Benson in 1988 stated it was/is "increasing its evil influence and control upon America and the entire world."

Why are we to "awake to a sense of our awful situation" as commanded in Ether 8 of the Book of Mormon? Because, we have indeed permitted and suffered this secret combination to be built above us, and it will not tolerate a Ron Paul for president, as it would not tolerate a Ronald Reagan implementing his campaign promises. It will not sit back with all the murders and devastation it has done to date, and let the Paul's continue to be the focal point of a mass movement running against their control grid and rising tyranny. No. There has been a private conversation and/or meeting of some sort with the Paul's. They've surely been spoken to and given the terms laid out in how the game is played. Perhaps they've been threatened with the murder of family members? Perhaps they've been given threats of a myriad types that one can speculate on? Something has happened, there is something that has occurred of malignity and threat. Rand Paul now flees interviewers that hitherto he was most gracious with. (Luke Rodowsky.)

Truly, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against evil wickedness in high places, and until the vast majority repent and change their upholding of these moneychanger backed, CFR politicians, this secret combination will grow and strengthen until it unleash a blood bath, and surely, the blood bath will ultimately be turned upon the heads of all those who have sworn allegiance to it, for God has decreed that all who suffer this secret combination to be built up above us, will be overthrown to their own destruction when it is fully accepted and spreads into the whole country. When this country begins to murder those resisting this secret combination, then will surely the judgements of God fall in righteous wrath upon this nation and break it to pieces like a "potters vessel" as has been prophesied by Wilford Woodruff, unless this nation of people repent of their political sins and otherwise.

Thank goodness that despite all of the evil, all of the sophistry and lies, there has been enough of support of right by enough citizens to have actually sparked the "Ron Paul Revolution" and the remarkable way it has spread. There is a “remnant in the land” who value freedom and liberty, who are versed in the principles of the US Constitution, and they do not accept, but resoundly reject the sophistry of “ambitious and scheming leaders” who bring us the Warfare/Welfare statism and its growing oppression and tyranny, taxes from which there is little or no relief.

For this freedom movement it to succeed, however, and the US Constitution to be once again enthroned as "inviolate," the "more part of the righteous" need to awake from the sleep of hell and cease upholding evil and wickedness---cease upholding evil schemers and incumbent traitors to the US Constitution, such as Orrin Hatch, Mitt Romney and others who uphold ghastly abominations like the NDAA with its provisions to murder US Citizens and strip them of their due process. These men indeed, "wear the mask of honesty" and deceive many good intentioned people to surrender principle for sophistry.

LDS Church President, Ezra Taft Benson, plead with the church to re-read once again the account of 3 Nephi in the Book of Mormon---or rather, it was the Lord ultimately making the plea---then likening and paralleling that book to our time with this critical point of many points made:

“Secret combinations flourished because, as Helaman tells us, the Gadianton robbers ‘had seduced the more part of the righteous until they had come down to believe in their works and partake of their spoils’ (Helaman 6:38). . . even as today.” (Conference Report, April 1987, Ensign, May 1987, p. 4.)

Benson, like Gordon B. Hinckley years later, tried to wake the people, for the Book of Mormon, they both asserted, is “as current as the morning newspaper.”

Sadly, not enough in the LDS church "know and love" the Book of Mormon. But a Seer, standing before the church, clearly stated the consequence between those who did know and love the book, versus those who do not. This he did in the First Presidency Christmas Devotional of 1986:

"I have noted within the Church a difference in discernment, insight, conviction, and spirit between those who know and love the Book of Mormon and those who do not. That book is a great sifter." (Ezra Taft Benson, "Jesus Christ—Gifts and Expectations," Christmas Devotional, Salt Lake City, Utah, 7 December 1986;Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, pp. 60-61.)

FLATHEAD VALLEY AS A PLACE OF REFUGE

Well, another stellar day. We got up a little late and got to church a little late to one of the Kalispell wards, as well. Well, there is always a silver lining. We bumped into a friendly sister in the hall and became acquainted. Turns out she had circumstances that propelled her to that area a few years back. We promised to exchange information after Sacrament Mtg. We heard one of the best talks we have heard in a while from a High Councilman on receiving personal revelation - which is dependent on three things; desire, personal worthiness and willingness to act on it once you receive it. That hit a home run with me....

After the meeting, we went over to talk to our hall acquaintance and exchanged information. After doing so, the sister sitting next to her who had slipped in late (the Bishop's wife) greeted us and told us she was glad we were there and that many people were being directed to the area sometimes unsure why and then she blurted out that the Kalispell area is one of the places of gathering as designated by Pres Ezra T. Benson in a 1947 area conference. We looked at each other and tears welled up in our eyes. Perhaps she was one of the few I know of that is awake?? Sure enough, I briefly quizzed her and she is aware of the Sols Guardisto vision. One who is watching and waiting - and anxiously engaged in a good work. I had an instant good friend. Her good husband, the bishop came up and greeted us and asked us where we would be choosing to live. There have been many coming into the area - even though jobs are scarce and opportunities limited. I think the next few years will prove interesting indeed.

THE EVILS OF SOCIALISM

In my attempts not to turn this into a political blog (but I do love politics dearly), I point out that this abhorring of socialism (something for nothing) has far more to do with the abhorrence of satan's plan (of taking something by force) than it ever had to do with politics. Secondly, what can I say - I am a rabid frothing at the mouth lover of anything President Benson. He was one of the Big Five "dream team" sent in the 1980's to help abolish the world blight of the USSR (the big five are Benson, Reagan, PJ Paul, Margaret Thatcher and Lech Walesa - each with a unique role to play).

Anyway, the following is what makes me such a great fan of President Ezra Taft Benson:

Humbly and gratefully I stand before you - grateful for patriots such as you - humbled by the magnitude of the task before us.
I speak to you as a fellow citizen of the United States of America deeply concerned about the welfare of our beloved country.
I am not here to tickle your ears - to entertain you. I will talk to you frankly and honestly. The message I bring is not a happy one, but it is the truth, and time is always on the side of truth. As the German philosopher Goethe, said: "Truth must be repeated again and again because error is constantly being preached round about."
I realize that the bearer of bad news is always unpopular. As a people we love sweetness and light - especially sweetness. Ralph Waldo Emerson said that every mind must make a choice between truth and repose. Those who will learn nothing from history are condemned to repeat it. This we are doing in the Americas today. ...
Returning recently from two years abroad has caused me to reflect seriously on recent trends and present conditions in our beloved country. I am shocked and saddened at what I find. I am sorry to say that all is not well in so-called prosperous, wealthy and powerful America.
We have moved a long way - and are now moving further and more rapidly down the soul-destroying road of socialism. The evidence is clear - shockingly clear for all to see.
With our national prestige at - or near - an embarrassing all-time low, we continue to weaken our domestic economy by unsound fiscal, economic and foreign aid policies which corrupt our national currency. Ever increasing centralization of power in the federal government in Washington, D.C. is reducing our local and state governments to virtual federal field offices while weakening individual initiative, enterprise and character.
With the crass unconstitutional usurpation of powers by the Executive Branch of the federal government, anti-spiritual decisions of the Supreme Court - all apparently approved by a weakly submissive rubber-stamp congress - the days ahead are ominously frightening.
Surely - certainly - it behooves patriotic citizens - such as you - to meet together to seriously consider present conditions in our beloved nation. It is imperative that American citizens become alerted and informed regarding the threat to our welfare, happiness and freedom.
No American is worthy of citizenship in this great land who refuses to take an active interest in these important matters.

All we hold dear as a great Christian nation is at stake. ...
We Americans have strayed far from sound principles - morally, Constitutionally and historically. It has been getting us into a quagmire of trouble all over the world, and especially here at home.
Americans at the grass roots level have sensed that their way of life is being threatened....
... There are some legitimate functions and services which the Federal Government can and should provide, but those who want the federal power to exceed the authority delegated to it by the Constitution will be resisted both by Democrats and Republicans. This is what is happening in some limited areas today. May the trend increase.
And anyone who tries to equate this love of Constitutional principles as meaning hatred of our national leaders is using Goebbels-style deception. History has already demonstrated that conservative opposition to national leaders was not "hate" but an attempt to do them a favor. ...
Therefore, I repeat, this kind of resistance to a national leader is rooted in love and respect, not hate. Regardless of which political party is in power, you do not want to see your President make a serious blunder. ...
What causes one to wonder is why these warnings were not carefully considered and acted upon. Why is it that men in high places in government, regardless of party have been deceived? I am convinced that a major part of the cause can be justly laid at the door of the Socialist-Communist Conspiracy, which is lead by masters of deceit who deceive the very elect. J. Edgar Hoover put it well when he said, "I would have no fears if more Americans possessed the zeal, the fervor, the persistence, and the industry to learn about this menace of Red fascism. I do fear for the liberal and progressive who have been hoodwinked and duped into joining with the Communists."
Therefore, let those who call for unity and the elimination of hate be sure they are not merely trying to silence the friends of freedom. These are they who respect their leaders and resist them only when it is felt they are headed for a catastrophe. What patriotic American would wish to stand silent if he saw the President verging on a blunder because of bad advice or a mistake in judgment of the facts?

I believe one of the most serious mistakes a President could make would be to weaken the Constitution.
From the time I was a small boy, I was taught that the American Constitution is an inspired document. I was also taught that the day will come when the Constitution will be endangered and hang as it were by a single thread. I was taught that we should study the Constitution, preserve its principles and defend it against any who would destroy it. To the best of my ability I have always tried to do this. I expect to continue my efforts to help protect and safeguard our inspired Constitution.
Some two years ago, however, a critic from Washington, D.C. claimed that a person who serves in a church capacity should not comment on such matters. He charged that the separation of church and state requires that church officials restrict their attention to affairs of the Church.
I, of course, also believe that the institutions of church and state should be separated, but I also do not agree that spiritual leaders cannot comment on basic issues which involve the very foundation of American liberty.
In fact, if this were true, we would have to throw away a substantial part of the Bible. Speaking out against immoral or unjust actions of political leaders has been the burden of prophets and disciples of God from time immemorial. It was for this very reason that many of them were persecuted. Some of them were stoned, some of them were burned, many were imprisoned. Nevertheless it was their God-given task, as watchmen on the towers, to speak up.
It is certainly no different today.
To Moses God said: "....proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof." (Lev. 25:10)
Why? For God knows full well that the gospel - His plan for the blessing of His children can prosper only in an atmosphere of freedom.
To modern men God has said: the Constitution "should be maintained for the rights and protection of all flesh." (Doctrine and Covenants 101:77) ...

At this particular moment in history the United States Constitution is definitely threatened and every citizen should know about it. The warning of this hour should resound through the corridors of every American institution....
Our Republic and Constitution are being destroyed while the enemies of freedom are being aided. How? In at least ten ways:
1. By diplomatic recognition and aid, trade and negotiations with the Communists.
2. By disarmament of our military defenses.
3. By destruction of our security laws and the promotion of atheism by decisions of the Supreme Court.
4. By loss of sovereignty and solvency to international commitments and membership in world organizations.
5. By undermining of local law enforcement agencies and Congressional investigation committees.
6. By usurpations by the Executive and the Judicial branches of our Federal Government.
7. By lawlessness in the name of civil rights.
8. By staggering national debt with inflation and the corruption of the currency.
9. By a multiplicity of executive orders and federal programs which greatly weaken local and state government.
10. By the sacrificing of American manhood by engaging in wars we apparently have no intention of winning.

Wherever possible, I have tried to speak out. It is for this very reason that certain people in Washington have bitterly criticized me. They don't want people to hear the message. It embarrasses them. The things which are destroying the Constitution are the things they have been voting for. They are afraid of their political careers if these facts are pointed out. They therefore try to silence any who carry the message - anyone who will stand up and be counted. ...

Now we should all be opposed to Socialistic-Communism, for it is our mortal and spiritual enemy - the greatest evil in the world today. But the reason many liberals don't want the American people to form study groups to really understand and then fight Socialistic-Communism is that once the American people get the facts they will begin to realize that much of what these liberals advocate is actually helping the enemy.
The liberals hope you'll believe them when they tell you how anti-Communist they are. But they become alarmed if you really inform yourself on the subject of Socialistic-Communism. For after you inform yourself you might begin to study the liberal voting record. And this study would show you how much the liberals are giving aid and comfort to the enemy and how much the liberals are actually leading America towards Socialism itself.
For Communism is just another form of socialism, as is fascism. So now you can see the picture. These liberals want you to know how much they are doing for you - with your tax money of course. But they don't want you to realize that the path they are pursuing is socialistic, and that socialism is the same as communism in its ultimate effect on our liberties. When you point this out they want to shut you up - they accuse you of maligning them, of casting aspersions, of being political. No matter whether they label their bottle as liberalism, progressivism, or social reform - I know the contents of the bottle is poison to this Republic and I'm going to call it poison.
We do not need to question the motive of these liberals. They could be most sincere. But sincerity or supposed benevolence or even cleverness is not the question. The question is: "Are we going to save this country from the hands of the enemy and the deceived?" ...
So from the very beginning of this Moscow campaign, to stop the anti-Communist movement in this country, it was an important part of the Communist strategy to get their liberal American friends to carry out an attack against patriotic organizations. Of course, the Communists have learned not to attack all patriotic groups at once. Their strategy is to focus on just one organization and make it so detestable and ugly in the public mind that they can hold it up as a sort of a tar baby and then use it to smear all other individuals or groups in the same category. ...

I feel it is always good strategy to stand up for the right, even when it is unpopular. Perhaps I should say, ESPECIALLY when it is unpopular.
I had to make this same decision all over again when President David O. McKay received an invitation from former Congressman John Rousselot, asking that I be authorized to give a patriotic speech.... President McKay after careful consideration, told me I should make the talk and that I had his permission and blessing....
This talk was given to [nearly 6,000 people at two events]....
Both talks dealt with the preservation of the Constitution and the need to resist the Communist threat....
Of course, ... this talk brought an immediate outcry from some liberal elements in Washington. These voices said that I, as a Church official, had no business speaking [at a political event]. They said it was making me "controversial." Patrick Henry and the Founding Fathers were also "controversial." True patriots have ever been. Perhaps they did not realize that I had fulfilled this assignment with the full approval of President McKay.... The fight to save the Constitution is not near controversy, nor the fight against Communism. In fact, it is a war with the devil - Christ verses anti-Christ - and I am willing to fight it. It is a fight against the greatest evil in this world - a ruthless, powerful, godless conspiracy.
J Edgar Hoover has warned that the cold war is a real war and that the threat is increasing. I agree, and unfortunately we are losing the war.

I think it is time for every patriotic American to join with neighbors to study the Constitution and the Conspiracy. Subscribe to several good patriotic magazines.... Buy a few basic books, such as Masters Of Deceit and A Study Of Communism by J. Edgar Hoover; The Naked Communist by Cleon Skousen, recommended by President David O. McKay, in the General Conference of the Church, October 1959; You Can Trust The Communists by Dr. Fred Schwartz, and so on.[Editor's note: These books are all available used at Amazon.com. More current publications include Awakening to Our Awful Situation, Jack Monnett; The End of America and Give me Liberty by Naomi Wolf; and Glenn Beck's Common Sense.] And then prepare to do some independent thinking. And remember that the organized who have a plan and are dedicated, though they be few, will always defeat the many who are not organized and who lack plans and dedication. The communists know this and have proven it. Isn't it about time that most Americans realize it too?

In conclusion may I say that one of our most serious problems is the inferiority complex which people feel when they are not informed and organized. They dare not make a decision on these vital issues. They let other people think for them. They stumble around in the middle of the road trying to avoid being "controversial" and get hit by traffic going both ways.
To the patriots I say this: Take the long eternal look. Stand up for freedom no matter what the cost.
It can help to save your soul - and maybe your country.
This is a choice land, choice above all others. Blessed by the Almighty, our forefathers have made and kept it so. It will continue to be a land of freedom and liberty as long as we are able to advance in the light of sound and enduring principles of right. To sacrifice such principles for momentary expediency - often selfishly motivated - is to endanger our noble heritage and is unworthy of this great American people.
With all my heart I love this great nation. ... This is a nation with a great mission to perform for the benefit of liberty-loving people everywhere. It is my firm conviction that The Constitution of this land was established by men whom the God of heaven raised up unto that very purpose. This is part of my religious faith.
The days ahead are sobering and challenging, and will demand the faith, prayers and loyalty of every American. As the ancient apostle declared:
"The night is far spent, the day is at hand; let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light." (Romans 13:12)
May God give us the wisdom to recognize the dangers of complacency, the threat to our freedom and the strength to meet this danger courageously. ...
In this mighty struggle each of you has a part. Every person on the earth today chose the right side during the war in heaven. Be on the right side now. Stand up and be counted. If you get discouraged remember the words of Edward Everett Hale when he said:
"I am only one, but I am one.
I can't do everything, but I can do something.
What I can do, that I ought to do,
And what I ought to do,
By the grace of God, I shall do!"
And this is my prayer for you this day. May God bless all of you, each and every one....

WARS TO CLEANSE AMERICA

SOME PEOPLE LIKE TO GET HIGH-MINDED AND THINK THAT THEY ARE ABOVE REPROACH. REMEMBER THAT ANY CLEANSING WILL START AMONG THOSE THAT SHOULD KNOW BETTER. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IT, JUST TAKE A GANDER AT WHAT A MODERN PROPHET HAD TO SAY:

President Benson talked very clearly about this growing division in the Church that we are experiencing. He said:
“Sometimes we hear someone refer to a division in the Church. In reality, the
Church is not divided. It simply means that there are some who, for the time
being at least, are members of the Church but not in harmony with it. These
people have a temporary membership and influence in the Church; but unless
they repent, they will be missing when the final membership records are
recorded.
“It is well that our people understand this principle, so they will not be misled
by those apostates within the Church who have not yet repented or been cut off.
But there is a cleansing coming. The Lord says that his vengeance shall be
poured out "upon the inhabitants of the earth. . . . And upon my house shall it
begin, and from my house shall it go forth, saith the Lord; First among those
among you, saith the Lord, who have professed to know my name and have not
known me. . . ." (D&C 112:24-26.) I look forward to that cleansing; its need
within the Church is becoming increasingly apparent.

The time will come when there will be no safety in carrying on the peaceable pursuits of farming or agriculture. But these will be neglected, and the people will think themselves well off if they can flee from city to city, from town to town and escape with their lives. Thus will the Lord visit the people, if they will not repent. Thus will He pour out His wrath and indignation upon them and make manifest to the people that that which he has spoken must be fulfilled.

But what about the American nation. That war that destroyed the lives of some fifteen or sixteen hundred thousand people was nothing, compared to that which will eventually devastate that country. The time is not very far distant in the future, when the Lord God will lay his hand heavily upon that nations. "How do you know this? inquires one." I know from the revelations which God has given upon this subject. I read these revelations, when they were first given. I waited over twenty-eight years and saw their fulfillment to the very letter. Should I not, then, expect that the balance of them should be fulfilled? That same God who gave the revelations to his servant Joseph Smith in regard to these matters, will fulfil every jot and every tittle that has been spoken, concerning that nation. What then will be the condition of that people, when this great and terrible war shall come? It will be very different from the war between the North and the South. Do you wish me to describe it? I will do so. It will be a war of neighborhood against neighborhood, city against city, town against town, county against county, state against state, and they will go forth destroying and being destroyed and manufacturing will, in a great measure, cease, for a time, among the American nation. Why? Because in these terrible wars, they will not be privileged to manufacture, there will be too much bloodshed--too much mobocracy--too much going forth in bands and destroying and pillaging the land to suffer people to pursue any local vocation with any degree of safety. What will become of millions of the farmers upon that land? They will leave their farms and they will remain uncultivated, and they will flee before the ravaging armies from place to place; and thus will they go forth burning and pillaging the whole country; and that great and powerful nation, now consisting of some forty millions of people, will be wasted away, unless they repent.

This was a letter from Nephi Packard to A. Milton Musser on July 24, 1896:

"... My brother, Noah Packard, says that he heard the Prophet Joseph say that the next great (U.S. civil) war after the war of the rebellion (the Civil War of the 1860's between the North and the South) would commence in a little town now called Chicago but at that time it would have grown to be a very large city. And another brother told me that the Prophet said that the cause of the next great trouble of the United States would be the depreciation of the currency of the United States. I believe I have given you all the facts in as short and concise manner as possible."

Another quote regarding the Civil War itself comes from an interview by Dr. Poulson with David Whitmer, printed in the Deseret News on Friday, August 16, 1878:

Question: When will the temple be built in Independence?

Answer: Right after the great tribulation is over

Question: What do you mean by that?

Answer: A civil war more bloody and cruel than the rebellion. It will be the smashing up of this nation, about which time the second great work has to be done, a work like Joseph did, and the translation of the sealed plates and peace all over.

Brigham Young:
The nation that kills the prophets of God in any age must expect to reap cursings instead of blessings, unless it speedily repent. Judgment must begin at the house of God first, and we are perfectly willing it should. I told General Kane that the Government of the United States would be shivered to pieces. — Journal of Discourses 12:119.

Brigham Young:
Joseph said that if they succeeded in taking his life, which they did, war and confusion would come upon the nation, and they would destroy each other, and there would mob upon mob from one end of the country to the other. Have they got through? No, they have only just commenced the work of wasting life and property. — JD 10:255.

John Taylor:
Joseph Smith had told them where it would start, that it would be a terrible time of bloodshed and that it should start in South Carolina. But I tell you today the end is not yet. You will see worse things than that, for God will lay his hand upon this nation, and they will feel it more terribly than ever they have done before; there will be more bloodshed, more ruin, more devastation than ever they have seen before. — JD 20:318.

Heber C. Kimball:
The President of this nation and his brethren in office, with all the rulers and all the priests, have sanctioned the destruction of this people. Yes, the President and all his coadjutors have sanctioned our death as much as I they had taken our lives, and they are a bloodthirsty nation. The Book of Revelation:
For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled, fill unto her double. How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow giver her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. Wilford Woodruff:
When I contemplate the condition of our nation, and see that wickedness and abominations are increasing, so much so that the whole heavens groan and weep over the abominations of this nation and the nations of the earth, I aks myself the question, can the American nation escape? The answer comes, No; its destruction, as well as the destruction of the world, is sure; just as sure as the Lord cut off and destroyed the two great nations that once inhabited this continent of North and South America because of their sin, so will he them destroy, and sooner or later they will reap the fruits of their own wicked acts, and be numbered among the past. I cannot help it; I would to God they would repent, that their eyes might be opened to see their condition; but the devil has power over them; he rules the children of men, he holds Babylon in his own hand, and leads the people withersoever he will. There are changes awaiting us, they are even nigh at our very doors, and I know it by the revelations of Jesus Christ; I know it by the visions of heaven, I know it by the administrations of angels, and I know it by the inspiration of heaven, that is given to all men who seek the Lord; and the hand of God will not stay these things. We have no time to lose. — JD 21:301.

WILFORD WOODRUFF'S DREAM:
I was in a dream in the City of Salt Lake wandering around the streets. In all parts of the city on the doors of the houses I found badges of mourning and I could not find a house that was not in mourning.... The next I knew I was just this side of Omaha. It seemed I was above the earth, and looking down at it. As I passed along upon my way east, I saw the road full of people, mostly women, with just what they could carry in bundles on their backs traveling to the mountains on foot. ...Everywhere I went I saw the same scenes of horror and destruction was everywhere. ...I supposed this was the end, but no. I was given to understand that the same horrors were being enacted all over the country — East, West, North, South. — Prophetic Years, Anderson, p. 54.

Daniel:
Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them in pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth. — 2:34-35.

Brigham Young:
God has come out of his hiding place, and has commenced to vex the nation that has rejected us, and he will vex it with a sore vexation. It will not be patched up it never can come together again but it will be sifted with a sieve of vanity, and in a short time it willbe like water spilled on the ground, and like chaff upon the summer threshing floor, until those wicked steward are cut off. — JD 8:324.

Millennial Star:
This generation shall be visited by an overflowing scourge. Of the precise nature of it we are not informed. It shall pass over the nations night and day. The affect of this visitation will be so direful and calamitous that the reports of its terrible ravages will fill all people with vexation. The operations of this fear-inspiring and destructive agent will continue until the appearance of the Lord in his glory.
Some of the judgment are definite as to locality. As an instance may be cited the approaching disruption of the Unites States of America. One of the horrors announced by the prophet upon that nation is now a matter of history the war of the Rebellion. Another and more appalling condition awaits that ill-fated people. It shall fall upon them like the visitation of a whirlwind, sweeping the country like a mighty flood. The populace will be divided into innumerable factions, and blood, carnage and woe will be rampant among them, filling the hearts of the more peacefully disposed with fear and dismay. Many will laugh at such a prediction, but, unless the people repent, it will come as surely as night follows day. Weakened and powerless from internal broils and disturbances, the nation will become a prey to the remnants left of the aboriginal inhabitants, who will be filled with vengeful rage at the wrongs that have been perpetrated upon them and furiously spread destruction in every direction. 13 Sept., 1880, p. 584-587.

Jedediah M. Grant:
It is no matter how much they deal in compromised measures, or how often they try to adjust difficulties around them it is a stern fact that the people of the United States have shed the blood of the Prophets, driven out the Saints of God, rejected the Priesthood, and set at naught the holy Gospel; and the result of rejecting the Gospel has been, in every age, a visitation from the chastening hand of the Almighty which chastisement will be administered in proportion to the magnitude and enormity of their crimes. Consequently I look for the Lord to use His whip on the refractory son called "Uncle Sam;" I expect to see him chastised among the first of the nations. I think Uncle Sam is one of the Lord's boys that he will take the rod to first, and make him dance nimbly to his own tune of "Oh! Oh!!" for his transgressions, for his high mindedness and loftiness, for his evil, for rejecting the Gospel, and causing the earth to drink the blood of the Saints for this, I say, I expect he will be well switched among the first of the sons.

Orson Hyde:
Joseph Smith once said, on the stand at Nauvoo, Ill., "That if the Government of the United States did not redress the wrongs of the Mormon people inflicted upon them in the State of Missouri, the whole nation should be distracted by mobs from one end to the other; and that they would have mobs to the full, and to their hearts' content." — Mill. Star, May 3, 1862, Vol. 24, No. 18.

Wilford Woodruff:
Our nation was under no condemnation in this respect until the light came and they heard the Gospel, rejected it, and cast out the Saints from their midst, slaying their leaders and depriving thousands of the Latter-day Saints who were American citizens, of every blessing, right and privilege guaranteed unto them by the Constitution and the laws of the United States. — JD 6:117.

B. H. Roberts:
I should have been pleased, could time possibly have been had, to present to you the full indictment that is being made against the United States for the lawlessness of its people, the increase of crime during the last twenty years especially, and especially those crimes of violence that end in murder, in its various degrees. In these higher crimes the United States of America is the most criminal nation on earth today. — Improvement Era, 26:164-5.

The Book of Ether:
Wherefore, O ye Gentiles, it is wisdom in God that these things should be shown unto you, that thereby ye may repent of your sins, and suffer not that these murderous combinations shall get above you, which are built up to get power and gain and the work, yea, even the work of destruction come upon you, yea, even the sword of the justice of the Eternal God shall fall upon you, to your overthrow and destruction if ye shall suffer these things to be. — 8:23.

The Prophet stood in his own house while he told us of the night the visions of heaven were opened to him, in which he saw the American continent drenched in blood, and he saw nation rising up against nation. He also saw the father shed the blood of the son, and the son the blood of the father; the mother put to death the daughter, and the daughter the mother; and natural affection forsook the hearts of the wicked; — JD 2:147.

Joseph Smith:
...A terrible revolution will take place in the land of America, such as has never been seen before; for the land will be literally left without a supreme government, and every species of wickedness will run rampant. Father will be against son, and son against father, mother against daughter, and daughter against mother. The most terrible scenes of murder and bloodshed, and rapine that have ever been looked upon will take place. — White Horse Prophecy.

From The Contributor:
I saw multitudes fleeing to the place of safety in the mountain heights. The church was stablished in the wilderness. Simultaneously the nation had reached an unparalleled prosperity... "But," continued the messenger, "thou beholdest a change. Confidence is lost. Wealth is arrayed against labor, labor against wealth..."
Factions now sprang up as if by magic: Capital had entrenched itself against labor throughout the land; labor had organized against capital. the voice of the wise sought to tranquilize these two powerful factors in vain. Excited multitudes ran wildly about; strikes increased; lawlessness sought the place of regular government. At this juncture I saw a banner floating in the air whereon was written the words, "Bankruptcy, Famine, Floods, Fire, Cyclones, Blood, Plagues." Mad with rage, men and women rushed upon each other. Blood flowed down the streets of cities like water. The demon of hate had enthroned itself upon the citadel of reason; the thirst for blood was more intense than that of the parched tongue for water. Thousands of bodies lay untombed in the streets. Men and women feel dead from the terror inspired by fear. Rest was but the precursor of the bloody work of the morrow. ...A voice now sounded aloud these words, "Yet once again I shake not only the earth, but also heaven. And this word yet once again signifies the removing of things that are shaken, as of things that are made; that those things that cannot be shaken may remain."
Earthquakes rent the earth in vast chasms, which engulfed multitudes; terrible groanings and wailings filled the air; the shrieks of the suffering were indescribably awful. Water wildly rushed in from the tumultuous ocean whose very roaring under the mad rage of the fierce cyclone, was unendurable to the ear. Cities were swept away in an instant, missiles were hurled through the atmosphere at a terrible velocity and people were carried upward only to descend an unrecognizable mass. — 15:638-640.

A Prophecy by President John Taylor:
My mother was busy preparing dinner for the visitors when she was surprised to see Pres. Taylor come into the kitchen so soon after having retired. He immediately started telling mother of a most remarkable vision that he had just had while in his room. He stated that he saw Salt Lake City become a great city with many beautiful paved roads and streets of cement construction, and the people become wealthy. He saw that the city extended almost to the point of the mountain. He saw the people become quite indifferent to the laws of God, and more interested in the accumulation of wealth than in living their religion.
He told mother that he saw war in Salt Lake City. So great was the destruction of life within the city that blood ran down the gutters as though it were streams of water. The people fought among themselves until it became necessary to remove the Church records across the Colorado river. — as told by Edward Lunt.

Doctrine & Covenants:
Behold, vengeance cometh speedily upon the inhabitants of the earth, a day of wrath, a day of burning, a day of desolation, of weeping, of mourning, and of lamentation; and as a whirlwind it shall come upon all the face of the earth, saith the Lord. And upon my house shall it begin, and from my house shall it go forth, saith the Lord. First among those among you, saith the Lord, who have professed to know my name and have not known me, and have blasphemed against me in the midst of my house, saith the Lord. — Section 112:24-26.

But behold, in the last days, even now while the Lord is beginning to bring forth the word, and the blade is springing up and is yet tender. Behold, verily I say unto you, the angels are crying unto the Lord day and night, who are ready and waiting to be sent forth to reap down the fields; But the Lord saith unto them, pluck not up the tares while the blade is yet tender (for verily your faith is weak), lest you destroy the wheat also. Heber C. Kimball:
You know that salt will not save meat when it has lost its saving principles, and it is just so with us: when a man sins to that degree that he rejects the truth and the principles of righteousness, he is thenceforth good for nothing but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men. So it will be eventually in the United States. After the truth is all gathered out you will find that the rest will be destroyed. I do not mean that the land will be destroyed, but I refer to the wicked inhabitants, and the earth will be emptied, according to the words of the Prophet. — JD 6:185.

...for God will gather out his Saints from the Gentiles, and then comes desolation and destruction, and none can escape except the pure in heart who are gathered. — Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 71.

For the day of my visitation cometh speedily, in an hour when ye think not of; and where shall be the safety of my people, and refuge for those who shall be left of them? — Section 124:10.

Orson Pratt:
I do not know but that it would be an utter impossibility to commence and carry out some principles pertaining to Zion right in the midst of this people. They have strayed so far that to get a people who would conform to heavenly laws, it may be needful to lead some from the midst of this people and commence anew somewhere in the regions round about in these mountains...I do not know how long it will be before this people are brought to the trying point to see who is and who is not for the Lord; but I would advise the Latter-day Saints to prepare for this, for it may come sooner than some of you expect. If the Lord should undertake to bring about an order of things different from that which now exists, and establish it not exactly in the midst of this people, but in some place where they can commence anew, I hope the people will begin to pray to the Lord, reckon up with themselves and examine their own hearts and see whether they are willing and prepared, if called upon, to place all that they have, or as much as they are required in that order of things, and carry out...
In order to bring about this, who knows how many chastisements God may yet have to pour out upon the people calling themselves Latter-day Saints? I do not know. Sometimes, when I read certain revelations contained in this book. — JD 15:361-362.

Joseph Smith:
The time is near when desolation is to cover the earth, and then God will have a place of deliverance in his remnant, and in Zion... Take away the Book of Mormon and the revelations, and where is our religion? We have none; for without Zion, and a place of deliverance, we must fall......and if we are not sanctified and gathered to the places God has appointed, with all our former professions and our great love for the Bible, we must fall.....for God will gather out his Saints from the Gentiles, and then comes desolation and destruction, and none can escape except the pure in heart who are gathered. — TPJS, p. 71.

Benjamin F. Johnson:
Before this the Prophet had foreshadowed the close of his own earthly mission, and the near approach of the time when the Saints in tribulation would find a place of refuge in the far- off valleys of the Rocky Mountains, which has already taken place; and also relating still to the future, when a path will be opened for the Saints through Mexico, South America, and to the center Stake of Zion. — My Life's Review, p. 101.

Joseph Smith:
Peace will be taken from the earth and there will be no peace only in the Rocky Mountains. This will cause many hundreds and thousands of the honest in heart to gather there; not because they would be Saints; but for safety and because they would not take up the sword against their neighbor. You will be so numerous that you will be in danger of famine, but not for want of seed time and harvest, but because of so many to be fed. Many will come with bundles under their arms to escape the calamities, and there will be no escape except by fleeing to Zion... — White Horse Prophecy.

Brigham Young:
This people can only gain strength upon the principle of fleeing to a country where the wicked will not live, and where they can gain strength enough to walk by themselves, and to go where they please. This is one of the truths of heaven. — JD 3:210.

Daniel W. Jones:
...on entering the State of Chihuahua on the north one travels uphill for several days... some of the finest and most fertile mountain valleys of that country are...two thousand feet higher than Salt Lake Valley. So, if Zion is to be built up in the tops of the mountains, we lack two thousand feet of being there yet. — Forty Years Among the Indians, p. 388, 1890 edition.

Daniel W. Jones:
How is the government? Do you think a man can live there in peace any length of time? I think a man will have all the privilege and protection that could be reasonably desired. Well now, why won't they legislate against our religion in time there just the same as is being done here? That is too big a question to be answered in a sentence. You must read the Book of Mormon in true belief, realizing that it is true and plain. If you will do this honestly you will have no fears about the future in Mexico. — Ibid., p. 391-392.

It (Mexico) is naturally one of the best protected countries in this continent, and a reasonable sized colony could and would be as safe there as any place on earth. — Ibid. p. 390.

Samuel W. Richards:
During that four hours I saw all that I expect to see if I should live a thousand years. Someone came to me and told me when to go, and I performed that journey that night while I lay upon my bed. I cam to this valley first... I went down through these valleys and into Southern California. ...Then I was prompted to go farther, and I went into the northern part of Mexico. I returned from there to Jackson County; I could tell a long story about this matter...but it is not best that I should. — Faith Like the Ancients, p. 231-232; also Conference Report of April 1905.

...The faithful Saints will go to the south and will form a circle something like a horseshoe, before they return to Jackson County, Mo. Those only will be privileged to help build Jackson Co. who will be found willing and glad to obey the counsels and advise of the authorities who will be placed over them, and who will seek such counsel that they may be guided and protected from dire want and distress. You will be few in numbers that are left, but you will assist the Lamanites in building the New Jerusalem. — as told by Edward C. Lunt.

So you purchase a new gadget and get that high and maybe even a feeling that you are somehow superior to the guy next to you that is minus said gadget.

Downturn Spurs 'Survival Panic' for Some in the US

16 Dec 2008 | 07:58 AM ET Text Size A paralegal, recently laid off, wanted to get back at the "establishment" that he felt was to blame for his lost job. So when he craved an expensive new tie, he went out and stole one.

The story, relayed by psychiatrist Timothy Fong at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute and Hospital, is an example of the rash behaviors exhibited by more Americans as a recession undermines a lifestyle built on spending.

In the coming months, mental health experts expect a rise in theft, depression, drug use, anxiety and even violence as consumers confront a harsh new reality and must live within diminished means.

"People start seeing their economic situation change, and it stimulates a sort of survival panic," said Gaetano Vaccaro, deputy clinical director of Moonview Sanctuary, which treats patients for emotional and behavioral disorders. "When we are in a survival panic, we are prone to really extreme behaviors."

The U.S. recession that took hold in December last year has threatened personal finances in many ways as home prices fall, investments sour, retirement funds shrink, access to credit diminishes and jobs evaporate.

It is also a rude awakening for a generation of shoppers who grew up on easy access to credit and have never had to limit purchases to simply what they needed or could afford.

Instead, buying and consuming have become part of the national culture, with many people using what is in their shopping bags to express their own identity, from the latest gadgets to designer handbags.

For those who need to abruptly curtail spending, that leaves a major void, said James Gottfurcht, clinical psychologist and president of "Psychology of Money Consultants," which coaches clients on money issues.

"People that have been ... identifying with and defining themselves by their material objects and expenditures are losing a definite piece of their identity and themselves," he said. "They have to learn how to replace that."

Depression Trigger

Beth Rosenberg, a New York freelance educator and self-professed bargain hunter, said she stopped shopping for herself after her husband lost his publishing job in June.

She is now buying her son toys from the popular movie Madagascar for $2 at McDonald's, and is wearing clothes that have hung untouched in her closet for years.

She said it has been stressful to stick to an austere budget after she used to easily splurge on $100 boots. "I miss it," she said of shopping.

Resisting temptation now could be even more difficult, as struggling retailers roll out massive discounts to lure shoppers during the holiday season.

Fueled by easy access to credit, a housing market boom and rising investments, U.S. household spending accelerated in much of the past decade while the savings rate declined.

After the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 killed thousands and shuttered U.S. financial markets, consumers were encouraged by politicians and business leaders to spend as a way of saving the economy and proving capitalism could not be crushed.

"We're getting these messages that it is, in effect, patriotic to spend money," said Stuart Vyse, a psychology professor and author of "Going Broke: Why Americans Can't Hold On To Their Money." The United States is deeply dependent on such spending, with consumption generating two-thirds of economic activity.

But problems arise when consumers become dependent on buying goods and services to cope with their emotions, Vaccaro said.

"We have difficulty handling our internal emotional state in other ways when we can't do that," he said, prompting some to seek out immediate gratification through drugs or alcohol.

Violent Behavior

Besides an increase in shoplifting, psychologists said retailers need to be prepared for more instances of violent behavior like that seen at a Wal-Mart store in Long Island, New York the day after Thanksgiving.

"I wouldn't be surprised if we see an uptick in crime, related to stealing," said UCLA's Fong. "I wouldn't be surprised if we see more workplace violence and more violence at the malls."

A throng of shoppers seeking rock bottom prices on flat-screen TVs and computers surged into the Wal-Mart [WMT 54.72 0.01 (+0.02%) ] store in predawn hours, trampling and killing a worker in the process. Fong said many shoppers have never stopped to think about why they were buying items, and it was easy to ignore looking deeper during a boom that support such spending.

But now, patients that can no longer shop to relieve stress have become anxious or depressed, he said. Others fume: "'I used to be able to afford that, I should be able to afford that now, I deserve that stuff,"' he said.

But Vaccaro said the downturn could be a time for shoppers to pause and study what they are attempting to achieve or what void they are attempting to fill by spending.

"We don't buy products, we buy feelings," Vaccaro said. "We're buying the anticipation of the feeling that we think that product or service is going to give us."

Gottfurcht said he encourages clients to take a walk or do some deep breathing before making a purchase to avoid an impulsive buy. He also recommended that clients keep a journal, noting how they felt when bought an item.

He said clients should then check the list a week later to see if the "glow" of that purchase has worn off, and it only satisfied an immediate want, not a true need.

The greater opportunity of the downturn, Vaccaro said, is that it represents a chance to move away from "irrational" and "careless" consumerism toward "a more discerning consumer."
