HE CHANGES YOU, HE CHANGES ME

I have been wanting to post something from this singer/songwriter for some time now.  She is one of the ones, whose prayerful journey has led her in the direction of her C&E.  I have posted several links to the C&E process on this blog.  I have taken some heat on them - but I am not sure if those cuts were from people who do not want that truth revealed (as it was in this 1976 ENSIGN article - click link), or if it was something given from someone who knows that this is a sacred thing, THE SPECIFICS OF WHICH, are not to be announced from the roof-tops to every Tom, Dick and Harry that comes along.  Yet, when we know someone is seeking this blessing, we would encourage them and tell them that they are on the right path, like we would a friend or co-worker who is seeking out a better life through gospel living.

Remember, we are to show our children the way to Salvation, or we are under condemnation.  We start with the simple things - and go forward from there.  We ALL should be aware that it starts with the Holy Ghost that we receive after our baptisms.  This then leads us from the First Comforter to the Second Comforter which takes across the finish line to the prize.  SO, if we do not know of something because it is never spoken of, how do we even know what to do?  What if no one had ever spoken of the First Comforter to us?  Spoken of the love we can feel and the wonderful influence it can be in our lives, guiding us and spurring us along to better things?  How would we ever know to take that first step?  Do we not have a missionary program to help people to that point?  SO, likewise - how do we move to the next step without someone pointing the way.

That is the purpose of this song and ENSIGN article (did I mention that it was in a lowly ENSIGN article??......).  To show us the way to bigger things.  We should desire this with all our hearts.  And, when we realize that this stuff is not openly spoken of in the Church anymore?  We should realize the awfulness of our situation - that we, as a body of Saints, have sunk to a low point.  May we speedily repent of our situation.

Here is the song that Cherilyn wrote and performed for a Relief Society function.  She gave up a promising music career to be a mom:

Please pray for her voice - she is having some trouble with it right now.  The prayers of the righteous availeth much.

  1. Beautiful, simple, humble, song. Sung truly from the heart if there ever was one.

I'm a bit confused. In the article it discusses making ONE's calling and election. Yet, in a quote from Bruce R. McConkie, he says that C&E is the assurance of godhood.

In my understanding, that can only be achieved through eternal marriage, so then doesn't it stand to reason that it takes TWO to receive C&E? Being called up as a couple by invitation by the First Presidency for a special ordinance and I'll stop there.

I am in a part membership marriage. I am so disheartened that I will never achieve much of any of these marvelous blessings and sometimes I feel like giving up to a certain extent thinking I'm just a dismal failure and was never meant for anything this special anyway.

I'll always have a testimony of the Truth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and that of our Savior and Redeemer Jesus the Christ. And I am determined to serve Him until my last breath. I may not be perfect at it, but that truly is my heart's desire.

I have to admit I feel a sting in the heart when I see videos of the General Authorities lives and how they seem to have been perfectly laid out. Finding their pure and wholesome bride at a dance or happenstance meeting. Serving a mission. Serving in the armed forces. Coming home, getting married, attending the temple, raising children, one calling leading to another and then one day called as an Apostle. I know it all comes from obedience and it sure helps to have an awesome start in life with faithful parents to begin with.

So, what becomes of those who are faithful part members in marriage and C&E and it seems the other half will NEVER join the Church?

Does anyone have any answers to this? Is C&E truly on an individual basis or is it connected to eternal marriage? Thanks for any help.

    1. One can receive one's C&E before one gets married. God knows everything and therefore He knows that the blessed soul will marry in the temple in the future just as He knows that that person will not fail Him in the long run. Only the noble and great go home. They were the only ones who wanted eternal life with all their hearts before this life. Each one of us must come to know that we are part of the noble and great group as we receive our own C&E. My parents never joined the church in this life, so it does not require being raised by LDS parents. Peter's letter (2 Peter) was addressed to converts to the church urging them to receive their C&E.
