Three down in one cycle. Sheesh this is kind of unprecedented. But then, there is much else that is.
Including this fourth and last blood moon. I am going to be at the top of a hill with the fam enjoying it in our favorite garden spot. Clear skies and in a magical place. So excited!
Nelson is senior. He was ordained shortly after the April conference in which he was sustained, but Oaks needed a month to finish state Supreme Court business before being ordained.

ReplyDeleteIt was April 1906, 109 and a half years ago. Interesting indeed. Two of the Quorum members resigned over the end of plural marriage and one had died. The picture shown in the article after the three were sustained and ordained shows three future presidents, George Albert Smith, Heber J. Grant, and David O. McKay. Elder McKay's name under his picture has it as D.O. M. Kay.
On another note, from Oct 1963 GC through Oct 1969 GC there were, counting President David O. McKay, one present and six future presidents of the church in the First Presidency or Quorum of the Twelve Apostles at one time. They were Joseph Fielding Smith, Harold B Lee, Spencer W Kimball, Ezra Taft Benson, Howard W. Hunter, Gordon B. Hinckley, and Thomas S. Monson. Half of the entire quorum of the twelve were to succeed in becoming the Lord's mouthpiece upon the earth in this order.
I believe the Apostles born prior to 1940 will all pass away by the time the cleansing of the western hemisphere is complete over the next 5 years.
