When I was a missionary in Brazil back in the 1980's, we were always called out (mistakenly) as CIA. Why? Because we flooded that country with foreign agents in a time when there was a very real danger of a communist takeover. Brazil was and is a country that has much wealth and influence in S. America. We did not want to lose it - so we flooded in. I think our motives were better than they are now.....
The people never forgot those guys in white shirts and short haircuts - and we fit that bill as missionaries down there.
Today, we have a sense of ultra-nationalism taking back over in places like Israel and Russia as there is a huge push to destabilize the governments via NGO's. Russia just passed a law banning missionary activities there. Sounds like Israel is making a similar push to keep undue foreign influence out after the George Soros meddling in the last election. It was so obvious, they detected the old hag at work. Classic evil emperor garbage. And yet one more case of a Jewish guy trying to put the screws to his own people...... Hitler and Stalin were in good company.
