Reading up on it before I go. Love a good story.
Ordinance work in the Dallas Texas Temple has been performed for historical figures of special significance to the citizens of Texas. For example, work was completed in 1986 for those involved in the tragedy at the Alamo on March 6, 1836. In addition, work for 1,500 "Trail of Tears" Choctaw Indians was performed in the temple.
Interesting that they chose that venue. I would have never thought of doing that.
Time to mozey on over and check it out. It is the sister temple of the Portland Temple that my wife and I were sealed in. Very excited to be back - I love the layout with the Sealing Rooms at a higher level than the Celestial Room is.
I am from southern alberta, but got my Doctor of Chiropractic degree in Dallas Tx. One January day, shortly after my wife, son and I moved there, they had a "snowstorm" it was raining, and in some locations, it had dropped slightly below freezing.. or, as we call that in Canada, "thursday"... the banks, schools, EVERYTHING was shut down, so my wife and I took that occasion to go to the temple. That was the only session ive ever been in where my wife and I were the only patrons... I have lots of great memories from my time in Texas.. lots of great spiritual people!
