RABBI CAHN - WATCHING THEIR FLOCKS BY NIGHT, THE BIRTH OF THE LAMB OF GOD
Folks - this is fantastic information. If you are a Gospel Doctrine teacher - or just enjoy knowledge of things as they were - and why they were - this is for you:
According to Cahn - Christ was born on 1 Nisan. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/gary.h.turner/XmasSept/xmas07.htm shows the equivalent western calendars as 20th March Julian; or 18th March Gregorian Equivalent in 6BC.
It's a compelling argument but doesn't fit the usual Mormon suggestion of 5th April, although I'm inclined to suggest that the western calendars are such a mess that it's hard to say what goes for reality.
