FWIW - I think it is safe to say that the USA is attacking Russia on every front - and it is quite possibly correct to say the same for China.
I think the USA has gotten caught with her pants down on many fronts, but most importantly in critical weapons systems. It is my understanding that Russia has been working on the S-500 which is so advanced that there is no way we can catch them (we have nothing close to their S-400 which they have had out for 20 years and is deployed in Syria since Turkey did their turkey shoot..... Russia has always maintained herself at the cutting edge of rocket technology, to the point that much of what we now have in the SpaceX race is leased or bought from Russia. Their space tech is simply much more advanced than what we have. We cannot defend against her latest missile technologies. Our GMD (Ground-Based Mid-Course Defense) system is a joke. I have been watching the tests and it has been an expensive and dismal failure. Russia knows this. What we are lacking in some key areas, the Chinese have exploited. They have an aircraft carrier killer and just recently released some satellite killer missile tech that I do not believe we have an answer to. Our response was to release a few "rods from god" on their port cities and to launch a missile from just outside LAX in the general direction of China to make ourselves feel good - like we are in control, precisely because we are losing control.
We realize that if Russia and China are allowed to continue at the paces they are currently at, we will be completely at their mercy within 5 years. So, we are irritating the dragon and poking the bear hoping they will attack before they are at full strength in order to have them sue for peace, keeping us with a strong upper hand, like we did in Germany and Japan for 70 years after WWII.
It is a VERY dangerous game with some seriously deadly players. I think it will backfire - let me re-state that. I KNOW it will backfire based on prophecy and how it has come down to this point so far.
It is all part of the plan - but disconcerting nonetheless....
More things have to happen imo though they ARE happening. The IMF just put the Yuan as an SDR currency.

The teenager has the toys but the old man tells the teenager to calmly move his pieces in giucco piano mode until the opponent makes a mistake.
Once the Сухой was shot down, that was the move that sprung the trap. And the пиндо Обама never having played chess has overdrawn his pieces.
This is looking more and more like a potential back rank checkmate (where the king cannot escape because his own pieces block the escape route).
Even so you have impatient Russians (google Dugin and Girkin) that would love to checkmate us now and go after Israel.
