Here are some comments and an article that give a richer perspective and context on what may be happening in Nevada. These comments are like golden nuggets, I believe.

..these are some interesting comments that I am pasting from the comments on this site: "$4.2 billion for land that the BLM will make TRILLIONS ON! They want to stake for oil and gas in which BLM takes an owning interest. The BLM needs to also pay them interest from any sales produced for the live of the well (approximately 20 years). It would be great if the judge stopped any oil and gas drilling indefinitely...then BLM would lose interest (literally) in the Bundy's land.

"In regards to your great and timely article about the BLM/USFS abuses in Nevada - You can extend that heavy handedness into Colorado and I am sure elsewhere. Glenn Beck's journalists were voicing their opinions about the Bundy's standoff with the BLM on his program yesterday and some were siding with the BLM. However they were not looking at the situation the way a Nevada resident would but as an outsider not seeing the whole picture. I have spent quite a bit of time in Nevada and a lot of that on horseback. I like to do solo rides out in the back country and you get to meet some down to earth folks out there. Most Nevada folks are very conservative independent types and are not the kind that you can walk all over. Back in the nineties when Billy was in office the BLM/Forest Service started getting kinda snarky and decided to close the roads in to the back country depriving the ranchers from getting to their cattle. In one instance near Virginia City (I think) BLM bulldozed the roads closed and trouble started. A group of armed ranchers went out there and with a dozer of their own they re-opened the roads. The feds showed up and did not get out of their vehicles. As memory serves the county sheriff department was there and did not interfere either.
I have a good friend that lives in northwest Colorado and is a former outfitter and guide and has been dealing with the USFS for all of her adult life. She laughingly refers to them as "the little green men" straight to their face. Oh, they love that!

I could turn this note in to a book because of other abuses that I know of. For one they cut the ranchers off in the Fallon area from their irrigation water. That went over real big too!
