GOING TOE TO TOE WITH SNUFFER - AGAIN!

Well, I just got a cal from my wife and I have two really cool things to post today - as more of a journal entry than anything.  The gal that we got our goats from stopped by today - the one who was suffering from lack of B-12 in her diet, with mood disorders and tingling in her extremities and MS-like symptoms - and she said that she had taken my info to heart and was integrating more red meat into her diet and taking pro-biotics and that her tingling was dissipating and her moods were stabilizing.  That kind of news puts me on cloud 9!  I love a success story - it makes all my constant rambling to random people worth it.  I really feel the Lord has made me to be a spokesman of sorts - as He led my wife and I to suffer and then stumble on this solution to hellish health problems.  I would be certain that she was one of the women in that dream I had about finding a cure for my wife's problems that I posted several months ago.  God truly is great and merciful when we are humble, acknowledging His hand in all things and do our best to be strictly obedient in all things.

Which segues nicely into the topic of this piece.  I was just cruising Denver's blog and I see that he was taking an oblique pot-shot at Elder Russel M Nelson's wife - CLICK HERE.  Elder Nelson heads the "Strengthening the Members Committee" - which apparently was related to Denver's ex'ing - as Denver has been pretty outspoken of a few matters in the Church.  He can say what he wants or join the nay-sayers of obedient living - but I know it works!  We don't do it to brag or to put ourselves above our brothers or sisters - but we do it to please God.  God is not slothful and does nothing in half measures.  When we give our all (even though we are oh-so human and consistently fall short of the glory of God), He is quick to recognize that diligence on our part with miracles.  Here is a quote from Elder Nelson's wife that I have always lived by:

"Obedience brings blessings - but strict obedience brings miracles."

I really feel that to be true.  If our lives are not filled with daily miracles and tender mercies of God, then we are missing the boat in some way or another.  I had so many miracles on my mission and was known as one of the hardest working (males) in the mission.  I shared my testimony of tithing earlier in the blog of how my job was saved by a plane crash that involved my system (not my fault.....).  While people around me were dropping like flies after the attacks on 9/11, I did not have to worry about my job much.  We doubled down on tithes and offerings and God saw us through.  I will always be grateful for the principles of tithing - because it is one of the few principles that we can keep with exactness.  Where I struggle with my tongue or purity of my thoughts as a male, I can always count on being in step with the Lord on that one principle - at least.

  1. Denver's expression of sympathy seem to me to be very deeply sincere and poignant.

    1. If he was truly sincere he might have shown up to his own CHURCH COURT. He didn't defend himself because he doesn't believe the church is authentic. This guy confuses the heck out of me. I guess he is way to smart for me. As an engineer I have never understood lawyers. Try arguing with the plane as its crashing... I think you will die. Law of Gravity wins every time.

    2. He showed up to his court Matt. They wouldn't let him in because of his children. The SP knew in advance about his children coming.

  2. Denver's expression of sympathy was sincere, with the joke on him. Self-deprecating humor.

  3. Elder Nelson is the chair if the Strengthening the Membership Committee. A group tasked with seeking out and purging the church of those it doesn't agree with.

  5. I feel like I have to call him out yet again on something he said. I really do like the guy - but he took exception to BY and I called him out and then he took a pot-shot (obliquely - and using sattire and a dry sense of humor that he has in implying that Sister Nelson's thinking could be damaging to children - per psychologists of today). I concede it may have been humor and that he was pandering to much of the crowd he has always pandered to - which are those who have gone down the long road of apostasy and who are coming back but are snagged on the doctrine of plural marriage and, to some degree, rigidity in the Church. I agree that the Savior would welcome all who have strayed (including myself - on so many fronts, great and small), but He also required exactness in his language. "Go and sin no more." He did not say, "Go and sin less frequently..." He said no more - "Be ye therefore perfect even as I and my Father in heaven are perfect." Not muc wiggle room there.....

  6. Iraq,
When I read posts like this one, it's as if to say "Look how righteous and obedient I am." "Look at how I bash the apostates, I'm a great defender of the faith!" Where is the charity? I don't mind the disagreement, but I'm not interested in your chest-thumping.

BTW, the LDSFF poster you love to quote, Serenitylala, is a Snuffer fan. You might want to ask her what she sees in him.

  7. I have to disagree, he said those with out sin cast the first stone, people are so quick to judge but there is only one who can judge us properly, Sometimes people live in their little bubble and forget the world at large and unfortunately sister nelson is one.

  8. I just read this passage in a parenting book. I thought you would appreciate it:

Sherem, an influential anti-Christ, "had a perfect knowledge of the language of the people; wherefore , he could use much flattery, and much power of speech, according to the power of the devil' (Jacob 7:4). One strategem of Satan we see very clearly -- he chooses his mouthpieces very carefully. No humble, fourteen year old boys for him! He wants great communicators with egos to match the message. Why? Because the message corrupts the teacher as well as the listener. Everyone is at risk, especially the teacher, when Lucifer's seductive sales pitch is being made in full glory. His logic is so contagious that it infects anyone who speaks its lies.

  11. Denver is a prophet

I find this fitting:As a prophet reveals the truth it divides the people. The honest in heart heed his words but the unrighteous either ignore the prophet or fight him. When the prophet points out the sins of the world, the worldly either want to close the mouth of the prophet, or else act as if the prophet didn’t exist, rather than repent of their sins. Popularity is never a test of truth. Many a prophet has been killed or cast out. As we come closer to the Lord’s second coming you can expect that as the people of the world become more wicked, the prophet will be less popular with them.
