ENTIRE CITIES SWALLOWED IN THE EARTH - REVISITED

This blog is a hobby - and I do not have a lot of time to throw at it, but many of these posts are just scratching the surface of information I have gained or gleaned on some particular topic.  Many times, I have a spare 5 mins to spend on it, or I have read an article as I am falling asleep (thus the shoddy nature of the writing), and I just tap out something simple.  So, if readers click on the "Post More Info" button on the bottom of the article, I am happy to revisit something.  I posted the soils data for northern Utah that shows where liquefaction is most likely to occur in the Salt Lake Valley.  CLICK LINK

Why do I car about this stuff?  Because my wife and I bought our first home in the valley - a fixer-upper that was built mostly from unreinforced structural brick - which kept me up alot thinking about how it would ride a shaker out.  Also, I care because, since I have moved from the valley, I have read enough stuff to know that there will be a massive (read M8.5-10.0+) earthquake in that valley within the next 0-20 years which will cause massive bad results.  Of course, my concern is "What will become of the Temple, Church HQ, etc?" in the event of such a massive shaker.  The SL temple is not re-inforced in any way and I believe its strictly a mass building - one that relies on sheer mass and gravity to ride out the massive stresses and g-forces that are experienced in a M7+ event.  I have been studying up on how the Greeks and others used mortise and tenon joints (with the locking feature being a cast-in-place metal plug) on their stone buildings which helped them ride the tremors out.  The Incans used similar technology plus interlocking stones - veritable 3D puzzles - to keep things together in their seismically active areas.  I do not believe that the SL temple has that luxury in its construction.  But it is in a similarly active seismic Zone 5 - so how will it survive what surely must be coming?

I am fairly confident that Brigham Young nailed things on two levels when he uttered prophetically as he struck his cane into the ground and designated the spot the temple is built on as the place where, 40 years later, a temple would stand erected - and, at a later time, that that temple would see its way into the Millennium - past all the prophesied destruction.

Years ago, I read a report that indicated that when American Stores (I think they are now defunct) went to build their store in the downtown core (just south of temple square), they did the geological survey of what is below them so they could gauge how deep to go with their pilings in order to support their building's mass on what is typically known to be alluvial material (small to larger gravel washed out of the mountains - stuff you would find on the bed of a former lake...).  I would love to get my hands on that report, BTW - if anyone knows where the link is.  I have scoured the internet for hours trying to locate it again so I could do a decent piece on the topic and cannot find it....  Anyway, the results were stunning.  The entire area directly under them and north to the capitol building sits directly on top of a granite plug that rises up from hundreds to thousands of feet out of the alluvial soil and provides a base on which to build a large temple.  In a massive shaker, a building that relies solely on mass as its seismic counter-measure will probably survive if the forces are normal to the foundation (up and down) and not too heavily in shear (side to side).  Any similar building of that mass on alluvial soil would simply disappear up to its spire or worse, as alluvial soil acts like a bunch of ball bearings.  Try it - get a bunch of BBs, put them in a deep tray and get blocks of similar dimensions but varying densities (increased mass per unit volume).  Put them on a shaker table (local h-ware store if you don't have one sitting around in the basement) - and see how the heavier the mass, the deeper it sinks.  The foam block will pretty much just float on top of the ball bearings while the lead block will disappear as the BBs are displaced around it.  I am confident that the areas directly around Temple Square and very "gay" alphabet streets and UofU area will take a massive hit as the energy manifested in an earthquake is directly proportional to the distance from the fault (right on top of it) and the depth of portion of the fault that erupts (this one will probably erupt at the surface of the earth, judging by the escarpments we see a little further south in the Cottonwood Canyon areas. Also, the benches are just big gravel beds where the faster moving water from the canyon creeks hit the placid lake waters of the Lake Bonneville shoreline - and dropped the sediments, etc.

While working with the Youth in one of the wards in the valley, we did a service project to clean up the City Creek Park just above (north) and east of Temple Square.  At the time we were baffled at the bags full of discarded clothing that we collected from the bushes.  Mostly shorts, underwear and the occasional t-shirt...  There was a lot more clothing than actual conventional trash.  I had never heard of gay cruising (at that point) until I read about the old I-15 rest stop between Lehi and Provo that was shut down for such activity - people acting like wild dogs, roaming around looking for a "casual encounter" much like the infamous senator from Idaho that was busted in an undercover sting in a mid-west airport.  Yup - there are tons of gays in the valley - and they are acting no better than the wild animals - except the wild animals at least mostly have enough sense/instinct to do the mating rituals with the opposite gender....  And thus, the statement that SLC would become one of the most wicked cities on the face of the earth is pretty much coming to fruition....and wicked cities tend to get wiped out - as the Sodomites found out.....

So, that report along with a confident prophetic statement or two from Brigham Young put my worries to bed.  The geological data shown in the link above confirms it - you can see that the liquefaction data in the Temple Square area matches the data in the canyon areas where the granite for the SL Temple was taken from.  Rock solid - while the surrounding area is pretty much ball bearing city.

On a side note - the liquefaction data also bears out what we know from other prophetic statements that there will be large tent cities on the foothills of the Oquirrhs (west side of the valley) when the destruction in the valley occurs.  There may be liquefaction in the west side - but nothing like the middle of the valley and the east benches.  While many in those tent cities will be refugees from the massive devastation that occurs on the West Coast (where I am now writing this at....),  who will flee from really bad, to "not as bad", (its all relative, isn't it?), many of the refugees will be displaced from the destroyed east side (where the main Wasatch Fault is) and down south from the Lehi and Point of the Mountain areas where the east/west fault lines intersect the north/south fault lines in the valley.  This is pure guesswork on my part - but, I believe, without divine intervention to intercede, I do not believe the new temple down in Draper will make it due to its extremely bad location.

When it was being built, I marvelled at how close the Oquirrh Mtn temple is to the older Jordan River temple - there is alot of new development out in that area - but really; enough to support a whole new temple when the WJ temple was largely under-utilized when I was there 15 years ago?  My personal feeling is it has been built (and heckastout, at that, just like the new Nauvoo Temple) to withstand the fury of what is coming, and so that the people that come to the refugee camps of the Oquirrh foothills can be converted and receive their endowments in their hour of need as they are humbled and become acquainted with their Maker in their extremity.  There will be a massive influx into the Church at that time - and at points afterward.  It will be amazing - the last gathering before the burning.

So, I guess the message of this post is, there is alot of destruction coming to those areas and that if you have questions or would like more info - please check the button at the bottom of the post and I will pass on more info as I have time.  Also, as we approach the next couple of years, please pray for me - that I will know when the right time to "pre-evacuate" is.  Being on the coast, and watching all of the prophesied wickedness come about, I know we are setting ourselves up for deserved destruction, but I am still here earning a living so I can afford to be prepared to ride this thing out.  The key (as Noah, Lehi and many others found out) is knowing when enough is enough..... and when its time to pull the handle between the knees and punch out and save yourself....

ANNULAR ECLIPSE - A HARBINGER OF DISASTER

For ancient people who had to spend a disproportionate amount of their spare time just in the basic day-to-day activities associated with their survival, they spent an awful lot of time looking up at the sky.  I, for one, do not spend much time looking up - it may well be because there was nothing to look at (other than clouds and rain drops) as I grew up in the saturated Pacific Northwest US.

Now that I am in the Big Sky, I am still so busy that I rarely have time to enjoy that spectacular sight, let alone build an observatory to focus on celestial happenings.  The reason the ancient peoples did, is because eclipses and planetary alignments usually preceded or accompanied disasters due to the increased gravitational pull inducing stresses on the earth's crust, etc.  Here is some Jewish tradition:

According to Jewish Rabbinic tradition, an eclipse should be interpreted according to the following: (Talmud - Mas. Sukkah 29a) (The last pair are reversed in the minds of some.)

• Solar: a bad omen for idolaters
• Lunar: a bad omen for Israel
• Red Moon at Lunar eclipse: a sword is coming for the whole world
• Black Moon at Lunar eclipse: the arrows of famine are coming to the world
• Both red and black moon: both sword and famine
• In the East: specifically for those who live in the East
• In the West: specifically for those who live in the West
• In the midst of heaven: for the whole world
• At sunset: the calamity will tarry in its coming
• At dawn: the calamity is forthcoming

I neither agree nor disagree with the above interpretations, but I wanted you to see that these are assigned such meaning in the tradition of the religious leaders of Israel.

With our ridiculous educational system, we do not learn the truths that they knew inherently years ago.  I was about to write this piece with a prediction and wondering what might actually happen in the way of geological disturbances, when I surfed and found this article.  Looks like Mother Nature beat me to the punch!  I expected something on the Pacific Rim (in the path of the eclipse).  This could be strictly coinkydink, but you never know....

RANDOM THING OFF THE NET I FOUND ON THE SECOND COMING

Sounds like this guy is LDS and wanted to have audience to share his visions/dreams of the future. He wrote this piece on Feb 25th, 2011. Sounds like he was onto something with the Japan EQ and the Arab Spring events - which is the start of WWIII (we are just in super slo-mo as this thing gets rolling - this isn't starting with a blitzkrieg like the last one, that is until Israel/US and Iran tangle....).

I thought his timing on the 7th seal being opened on Sept 22nd, 2011 was interesting considering a lion-share of traffic to this site (even today after a no-show on the 7th seal) is based on David Cohen's piece - which totally baffles me. I still think the date was correct - just no supernova and no elenin as I had expected.... Anyway, something to chew on, for sure. Either someone is totally messin' with me, or this is just too coincidental, because I sure didn't hear the trumpet on Sept 22nd of 2011.... Did I forget to take my earplugs out and slept right thru it??

Maybe I missed something on the old logic path with it all - but this is still good fodder for the Wood Zone:

Red face Dreams and Visions of UpComing End-time Events, LDS viewpoint
Over the past several years I have had several dreams and visions about up-coming events. Several other people have had similar experiences. I will share a few of mine, and then perhaps a few of you will share yours with me.
It seems that 2011 is the turning point for events to get worse. I decided to that it was time to say something. There are many events that I have learned about.
1. Middle of March 2011. There is a possibility that a 7.9+ earthquake will hit a densely populated area in a third-world country. Most of the buildings will collapse, many people will die, many will be homeless. It seems there will be an increase in world chaos and natural disasters.
2. During the next six months (Mar to Sept 2011) World War III will escalate.
3. Sometime in June 2011. The LDS people that are prepared will be 'called-out' to go to prepared camps.
4. The meeting at Adam-ondi-Ahman will happen sometime in the next six months (Mar - Sept 2011).
5. After the meeting at Adam-ondi-Ahman the 144,000 will begin gathering the Lord's children from various locations world-wide, and they will be taken to places of refuge, most of which have an Enoch Colony already established there.
6. It seems that Sept. 22, 2011 is the opening of the seventh seal. I saw the first archangel blowing the first trumpet.
7. The events described in Revelations after the opening of the seventh seal will follow shortly.
8. Sometime in the next year the west coast of California will be destroyed. Not sure how, or exact date, but saw it happening.
9. Armageddon will begin in 2012.
10. The half hour of silence spoken of in Revelations will begin at the end of Armageddon.

These are not Church doctrine or documented events. These are what I have personally seen or discovered, and I consider them to be sacred. But I cannot say 100% that they will happen. For your own confirmation, pray about it.

Joe Brandt Vision - Fake or Legit?

A reader just posed the question to me on another record setting day for the blog. Holy smokes! People are jittery!

What do you think? Seems vaguely to fit with what I have seen and expect for the opening of the 7th Seal. Californication will receive Godly judgment for her sins in being at the lead of taking this nation down the spiny path.....with the Terminator at the helm.... I can't believe the people we have in charge some days. Some at work, in our governments, in our churches. Some are real pieces of work..... No moral outrage to throw the bums out and get someone in that has some character..... Truly sad!

Back on topic. Let me know what you think of this experience. I am interested. The stated purpose of the blog is to put most anything out there for perusal. I stand behind most of it - but I am skeptical about a young kid in 1937 knowing much about helicopters....:

Joe Brandt Earthquake Dream


The man who wrote this was a personal friend of the publisher at the time. The article is given as he wrote it in
1937, in boyish handwriting. He had fallen from a horse at age 17 and for days he had a concussion. During
this period of time a continuing dream came night after night. It was as though he were viewing a tremendous
earthquake and inundation in California and other parts of the world. Joe Brandt had also written in a drowsy
state through his days while recuperating in the hospital about positions of various faults, strata of rock, earth
movements,-so much material that a geologist of many years would scarcely attempt such a work. The boy
knew nothing of geology or the possibility of a coming earthquake. There are five-points to note which lift this
dream/vision out of the realm of ordinary night-time dreaming, and the huge sheaf of geology data out of
ordinary day-time writings, as follows:

1. The dream/vision took place in perfect continuity, night after night, for many nights, always picking up
exactly where it left off. This is super-normal.

2. The viewer was projected at least 30 years ahead in time, seeing modes of dress for youth not faintly imagined
in 1937 by anyone. This is super- normal.

3. Half-sized cars were seen-many of them, and in 1937 such cars were not familiar to the United States. He
remarked about the odd shape, which could have been the Volkswagen, now so common in the United States.
There are about three times as many VW's in California as elsewhere in our country.

4. Super-highways are noted, which he had not seen in his trips to Los Angeles from his home in Fresno,
California. (By the way, he saw Fresno wiped out in the catastrophe.) This is super-normal knowledge.

5. He wrote about geology he had never learned, nor at 17 had there been time to learn that much. He was
given a vast knowledge of "faults" of which he was totally unaware. This is super-normal knowledge. When
checked later with a graduate geologist, it was found to be factual. Note: absence of birds. Birds and animals
flee an area just before earthquakes.

The Day Of The Earthquake

I woke up in the hospital room with a terrific headache- as if the whole world was revolving inside my brain. I
remember, vaguely, the fall from my horse-Blackie. As I lay there, pictures began to form in my mind-pictures
that moved with the speed of lightning-pictures that revolved-pictures that stood still. I seemed to be in another
world. Whether it was the future, or whether it was some ancient land, I could not say.

Then slowly, like the silver screen of the "talkies", but with colour and smell and sound, I seemed to find myself
in Los Angeles. It was Los Angeles-it was bigger, much bigger, and busses and odd shaped cars crowded the
city streets. I thought about Hollywood Blvd., and I found myself, there, on Hollywood Blvd. Whether this is
true, I don't know, but there were a lot of guys about my age with beards and wearing, some of them, earrings.
All the girls wore real short skirts... and they slouched along, moving like a dance. I wondered if I could talk to
them, and I said "hello", but they didn't hear or see me. I decided that I would look as funny to them as they
looked to me. I tried, for awhile, that crazy kind of walk. I guess it is something you have to learn. I couldn't to
it. I noticed there was a quietness about the air, a kind of stillness. Something else was missing, something that
should be there.

At first, I couldn't figure it out, I didn't know what it was-then I did. THERE WERE NO BIRDS. I listened. I
walked two blocks north or the Blvd...All houses...no birds. I wondered what had happened to them. Had they
gone away? Where? Again, I could hear the stillness. I had never experienced anything like it. I listened...just the
stillness.

Then, I knew something was going to happen. I wondered what year it was. It certainly was not 1937. I saw a
newspaper on the corner with a picture of the president. It surely wasn't Mr. Roosevelt. He was bigger, heavier,
big ears. If it wasn't 1937, I wondered what year it was. It looked like 1969...but I wasn't sure. My eyes weren't
working just right..

Someone was coming...someone in 1937... it was that fat nurse ready to take my temperature. I woke up. Crazy
dream (There are pages here about a similar dream occurring-finding himself in Los Angeles-although it was
the next day (in 1937) it was the same day in Los Angeles, and the dream would continue where the last dream
left off.) My headache is worse. It is a wonder I didn't get killed on that horse. I've had another crazy dream,
back in Hollywood. Those people. Why do they dress like that I wonder? I found myself back on the Blvd. I was
waiting for something to happen. Something BIG was going to happen and I was going to be there. I looked up
at the clock down by that big theatre. It was 10 minutes to 4. Something BIG was going to happen. I walked
down the street. In the concrete in front of a theatre they had names of stars. I recognized a few of them. The
other names I had never heard. I was getting bored. I wanted to get back to the hospital in Fresno, and I wanted
to stay there on the blvd., even if nobody could see me. Those crazy kids. Why are they dressed like that?
Maybe it is some big Halloween doings, but it don't seem like Halloween. More like early spring.

There was that sound again. that LACK OF SOUND. STILLNESS, STILLNESS, STILLNESS. Don't these
people KNOW that the birds have gone somewhere? The QUITE IS GETTING BIGGER AND BIGGER. I
KNOW IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. SOMETHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN. Something is happening now!

It sure did. She woke me up, grinning and smiling, that fat nurse again. "It's time for your milk, kiddo," she
says. Gosh, old woman of 30 acting like the cat's pyjamas. Next time maybe she'll bring hot chocolate.

THE MOMENT OF THE HAPPENING

Where have I been. Where haven't I been! I've been to the ends of the earth and back. I've been to the end of the
world. There isn't anything left. Not even Fresno, even though I'm lying here right this minute. If only my eyes
would get a little clearer so I can write all this down. Nobody will believe me, anyway.

I'm going back to that last moment on the Blvd. Some sweet kid went past, dragging a little boy (twins, I guess)
by each hand. Her skirt was up--well, pretty high--and she had a tired look. I thought for a minute I could ask
her about the birds, what had happened to them, and then, I remembered she didn’t see me. Her hair was all
frowzy, way out all over her head. A lot of them looked like that, but she looked so tired and like she was sorry
about something. I guess she was sorry BEFORE it happened, because it surely did happen.

There was a funny smell. I don't like it. A smell like sulphur, sulphuric acid, a smell like death. For a minute, I
thought I was back in chem. (chemistry). When I looked around for the girl, she was gone. I wanted to find her
for some reason. It was if I knew something was going to happen and I could stay with her, help her. She was
gone, and I walked half a block, then saw the clock again. My eyes seemed glued on that clock. I couldn’t move.
I just waited. It was FIVE MINUTES TO FOUR O'CLOCK ON A SUNNY AFTERNOON. I thought I would
stand there looking at that clock forever waiting for the something to come.

Then, when it came, it was nothing. It was just nothing. It wasn't nearly as hard as the earthquake we had two
years ago. The ground shook, just an instant. People looked at each other, surprised. Then they laughed, I
laughed too. So this was what I had been waiting for. This funny little shake. It meant nothing. I was relieved
and I was disappointed. What had I been waiting for? I started back up the Blvd., moving my legs like those
kids. How do they do it?

I never found out. I felt as if the ground wasn't solid under me. I knew I was dreaming and yet I wasn't
dreaming. There was that smell again--coming like from the ocean. I was getting to the 5 and 10 (Newberry's?)
and I saw the look on the kids' faces. Two of them were right in front of me, coming my way. Both with beards.
One with earrings. One said: "let's get out of this place. Let's go back East." He seemed scared. It was as if the
sidewalks were trembling - but you couldn't seem to see them. Not with your eyes you couldn't. An old lady
had a dog, a little white dog, and she stopped and looked scared, and grabbed him in her arms and said,” Let’s
go home, Frou, Frou. Mamma is going to take you home." That poor old lady, hanging on to her dog. I got
scared. Real scared.

I remembered the girl. She was way down the block, probably. I started to run. I ran and ran, and the ground
kept trembling. But I couldn't see it. I couldn't feel it. But I knew it was trembling. Everybody looked scared.
They looked terrible. One young lady just sit down on the sidewalk all doubled up. She kept saying
"earthquake, it's THE earthquake." over and over. But I COULDN"T SEE THAT ANYTHING WAS
DIFFERENT.

Then, when it came. How it came. Like nothing in God's world. Like nothing. It was the scream of a siren, long
and low, or the scream of a woman I heard having a baby when I was a kid. It was awful. It was as if
something- some monster- was PUSHING UP THE SIDEWALKS. You felt it long before you saw it, as if the
sidewalks wouldn't hold anymore. I looked out at the cars. They were honking but not scared. They just kept
moving. They didn't seem to know yet that anything was happening. Then, that white car, that baby half-sized
one, came sprawling from the inside lane right against the curb. The girl who was driving just sat there. She sat
there with her eyes staring, as if she couldn't move, but I could hear her. She whimpered. Like a little girl. She
made funny noises. I watched her, thinking of the other girl.

I said that it was a dream and I would wake up.. But I didn't wake up. But I didn't wake up. The shaking had
started again, but this time different. It was a nice shaking, like a cradle being rocked for a minute, and then I
saw the middle of the Blvd. seemed to be breaking in two. The concrete looked as if it were being pushed
straight up by some giant shovel. it. It was breaking in two. That is why the girl's car went out of control.. AND
THEN A LOUD SOUND AGAIN, LIKE I'VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE...THEN HUNDREDS OF SOUNDS...
ALL KINDS OF SOUNDS... children, and women and those crazy guys with earrings. They were all moving, it
seemed, some of them above the sidewalk. I can't describe it. They were LIFTED UP. and the waters kept
oozing...oozing. The cries. It was awful. I woke up. I never want to have that dream again.

THE EARTHQUAKE

It came again. Like the first time which was a preview and all I could remember was that it was the end of the
world. I was right back there--all that crying. Right in the middle of it. My eardrums felt as if they were going to
burst. Noise everywhere. People falling down, some of them bad hurt. Pieces of buildings, chips, flying in the
air. One hit me hard on the side of the face, but I didn't seem to feel it.

I wanted only to wake up, to get away from this place. It had been fun in the beginning, the first dream, when I
kind of knew I was going to dream the end of the world or something. This was terrible. There were older people
in the cars. Most of the kids were in the street. But those old guys were yelling bloody murder, as if anybody
could help them.. Nobody could help them. Nobody could help them.

It was then that I felt myself lifted up. Maybe I had died. I don't know. But I was over the city. It was tilting
toward the ocean-like tilting a picnic table. The buildings were holding, better than you could believe. They were
holding. They were holding. The people saw they were holding and they tried to cling to them or get inside. It
was fantastic. Like a building had a will of its own. Everything else breaking around them, and they were
holding, holding. I was up over them-looking down. I started to root for them. Hold that line, I said. Hold that
line. Hold that line. I wanted to cheer, to shout, to scream. If the buildings held, those buildings on the Blvd.,
maybe the girl-the girl with the two kids-maybe she could get inside.

It looked that way for a long time, maybe three minutes, and three minutes was like forever. Everybody was
trying to get inside. They were going to hold. You knew they were going to hold, even if the waters kept coming
up. Only they didn't. I've never imagined what it would be like for a building to die. A building dies just like a
person. It gives way, some of the bigger ones did just that. They began to crumble, like an old man with palsy,
who couldn't take it anymore. They crumble right down to nothing. And the little ones screamed like mad-over
and above the roar of the people. They were mad about dying. But buildings die. I couldn't look anymore at the
people. I kept wanting to get higher. I kept willing myself to go higher.

Then I seemed to be out of it all, but I could see. I seemed to be up on Big Bear near San Bernardino, but the
funny thing is that I could see everywhere. I knew what was happening. The earth seemed to start to tremble
again. I could feel it even though I was up high. This time it lasted maybe twelve seconds, and it was gentle. You
couldn't believe anything so gentle could cause so much damage. But then I saw the streets of Los Angeles-and
everything between the San Bernardino mountains and L.A. It was all tilting toward the ocean, houses
everything that was left. I could see the big lanes-dozens of big lanes still loaded with cars-five lanes in one place,
and all the cars sliding the same way.

Now the ocean was coming in, moving like a huge snake across the land. I wondered how long it was, and I
could see the clock, even though I wasn't there on the Blvd.. It was 4:29. It had been half an hour. I was glad I
couldn't hear the crying any more. But I could see everything. I could see everything.

THE OTHER CITIES

Then, like looking at a huge map of the world, I could see what was happening on the land and with people.
San Francisco was feeling it, but she was not in any way like Hollywood or Los Angeles. I seemed to see it was
the GARLOCK FAULT, not just the SAN ANDREAS that was rocking San Francisco. It was moving just like
that earthquake movie with Jeanette McDonald and Gable. I could see all those mountains coming together-the
Sierra Nevada, and the San Andreas and Garlock.

I knew what was going to happen to San Francisco-it was going to turn over, because of Garlock. It would turn
upside down. It went quickly, because of the twisting, I guess. It seemed much faster than Hollywood, but then I
wasn't exactly there. I was a long, long way off.

I shut my eyes for a long time-I guess ten minutes-and when I opened them I saw Grand Canyon, that great big
gap was closing in, and Boulder Dam was being pushed from underneath. And then, Nevada, and on up to
Reno. Way down south, way down Baja, California, Mexico too. It looked like some volcano down there was
erupting, along with everything else.

I saw the map of South America, especially Colombia. Another volcano-eruption-shaking violently. Venezuela
seemed to be having some king of volcanic activity. Away off in the distance, I could see Japan, on a Fault, too.
It was so far off-not easy to see, because I was still on Big Bear Mountain, but Japan started to go into the sea. I
couldn't tell time, then, and the people looked like dolls, far away. I couldn't hear the screaming, but I could see
the surprised look on their faces. They looked so surprised.. They were all like dolls. It was so far away I could
hardly see it. In a minute or two it seemed over. Everybody was gone. There was nobody left.

I didn't know time now. I couldn't see a clock. I tried to see the island of Hawaii. I could just see huge tidal
waves...beating against it. The people on the streets were getting wet, and they were scared. But I didn't see
anybody going into the sea. I seemed way around the globe. More flooding. Is the world going to be drenched?
Constantinople. Black Sea rising. Suez Canal, for some reason seemed to be drying up. SICILY.. she doesn't
hold. I could see map. Mt Etna is shacking. A lot of this area seemed to go, but it seemed to be earlier or later.

I wasn't sure of time, now. ENGLAND.....huge floods-but no tidal waves. Water, water everywhere, but no one
going into the sea. People were frightened and crying. Some places they fell in the streets on their knees and
started to pray for the world. I didn't know the English were emotional. Ireland, Scotland-all kinds of churches
were crowded-it seemed night and day. People were carrying candles and everybody was crying for California,
Nevada, parts of Colorado- maybe all of it, even Utah.

Everybody was crying-most of them didn't even know anybody in California, Nevada, Utah, but they were
crying as if they were blood kin. Like one family. Like it happened to them. NEW YORK was coming into view-
she was still there, nothing had happened, yet water level was way up. Here, things were different. People were
running in the streets yelling-"end of world". Kids ran into restaurants and ate everything in sight. I saw a shoe
store with all the shoes gone in about five minutes. Fifth Avenue- everybody running. Some radio blasting from
a loud speaker that in a few minutes, power might be shut off. They must control themselves. Five girls were
running like mad toward the Y.W.C.A., that place on Lexington or somewhere. They ran like they were scared
to death. BUT NOTHING WAS HAPPENING IN NEW YORK. I saw an old lady with garbage cans, filling
them with water. Everybody seemed scared to death. Some people looked dazed. The streets seemed filled with
loud speakers. It wasn't daylight. It was night. I saw, like the next day, and everything was topsy turvy. Loud
speakers again about fuel tanks broken in areas-shortage of oil. People seemed to be looting markets.

Oregon, Washington, The Dakotas, Missouri, Minnesota, Canada

I saw a lot of places that seemed safe, and people were not scared. Especially the rural areas. Here everything
was almost as if nothing had happened. People seemed headed to these places some on foot, some in cars (that
still had fuel). I heard-or somehow I knew- that somewhere in the Atlantic land had come up. A lot of land. I was
getting awful tired. I wanted to wake up I wanted to go back to the girl-to know where she was-she and those
two kids. I found myself back in Hollywood-and it was still 4:29. I wasn't up on Big Bear then- I was perched
over Hollywood. I was just there. It seemed perfectly natural in my dream.

T.V., Radio, Ham Operators

I could hear now. I could hear, someplace, a radio station blasting out-telling people not to panic. They were
dying in the streets. There were picture stations with movies-some right in Hollywood-these were carrying on,
with all the shaking. One fellow ( in the picture (TV) station) was a little short guy who should have been scared
to death. But he wasn't. He kept shouting and reading instructions. Something about helicopters or planes
would go over-some kind of planes-but I knew they couldn't.

Things were happening in the atmosphere. The waves were rushing up now. Waves. Such waves. Nightmare
waves. Then, I saw again, Boulder Dam, going down...pushing together, pushing together breaking apart-No,
Grand Canyon was pushing together, and Boulder Dam was breaking apart. It was still daylight. All these radio
stations went off at the same time-Boulder Dam had broken. I wondered how everybody would know about it-
people back East. That was when I saw the "ham radio operators". I saw them in the oddest places, as if I were
right there with them. Like the little guy with glasses. They kept sounding the alarm. One kept saying: "This is
California. We are going into the sea. This is California. We are going into the sea.. Get to the high places. Get to
the mountains. All states west-this is California. We are going to the - We are going to the" - I thought he was
going to say" sea". But I could see him. He was inland, but the waters had come in. His hand was still clinging
to the table, he was trying to get up, so that once again he could say: "This is California we are going into the
sea. This is California we are going into the sea." I seemed to hear this, over and over, for what seemed hours-just
those words.

They kept it up until the last minute-all of them-calling out "Get to the Mountains-This is California.-We are
going into the sea." I woke up. It didn't seem as if I had been dreaming. I have never been so tired. For a minute
or two, I thought it had happened. I wondered about two things. I hadn't seen all what happened to Fresno (his
home) and I hadn't found out what happened to that girl. I've been thinking about it all morning. I'm going
home tomorrow. It was just a dream. It was nothing more.

Nobody in the future on Hollywood Blvd. is going to be wearing earrings-and those beards. Nothing like that is
ever going to happen. That girl was so real to me-that girl with those two kids. It won't ever happen-but if it did,
how could I tell her (maybe she isn't even born yet) to move away from California when she has her twins-and
she can't be on the Blvd. that day. She was so real!

The other thing-those ham operators-hanging on like that-over and over-saying the same thing: " This is
California. We are going into the sea. This is California. We are going into the sea. Get to the mountains. Get to
the hilltops. California, Nevada Colorado, Arizona, Utah. This is California. We are going into the sea." I guess
I'll hear that for days.

Experts Claim 10 to 45% Chance Massive Earthquake And Tsunami Will Devastate Pacific Northwest

Experts have placed the probability of a massive earthquake striking along the Cascadia fault at a 10 to 37% chance within the next 50 years.

Speaking at a Portland State University symposium on earthquakes, experts compared evidence from Japan as well as soil seabed samples to reach their conclusion.

“Within the next 50 years, they say, Washington and northern Oregon face a 10 to 15 percent probability of an offshore quake powerful enough to kill thousands and launch a tsunami that would level coastal cities,” reported The Oregonian.

This is startling considering the massive destruction caused by the powerful Japanese earthquake and subsequent tsunami that wrecked havoc throughout Japan and caused three full scale meltdowns at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant.

“Off southern Oregon, the probability of an 8-or-higher magnitude earthquake is greater — 37 percent, according to Oregon State University’s Chris Goldfinger, one of the world’s top experts on subduction-zone quakes.”

Chris Goldfinger has been involved and lead similar studies in the past that have indicated essentially the same probability. In 2008 he lead a study that showed a 1 in 3 chance of a massive earthquake rocking Oregon in the next 50 years.tsunami map

“It could be tomorrow, it could be 50 years from now,” Goldfinger told NWCN.com in mid March.

In April 2011 The Daily Mail reported that their is actually a 45% probability of a so called ‘Megathrust’ in the Cascadia fault zone.

“Cascadia, which stretches from Vancouver island to northern California, has been dormant for over 300 years but scientists now believe there is a 45 per cent probability of an earthquake of an 8.0 magnitude or higher in the next 50 years. They add there is a 15 per cent chance of magnitude 9 or more.”

Interestingly enough, Goldfinger has also showed a correlation between the San Andreas Fault and the Cascadia Fault.

ScienceDaily, quoting research published by the Bulletin of Seismological Society of America, reported in 2008 that seismic activity on the southern Cascadia fault has possibily trigged earthquakes along the San Andreas Fault.

Opinions differ in regards to how frequent the fault produces magnitude 8 or above earthquakes, with some believing that it likely happens every 250 years and others believing it is closer to every 500.

It has been about 300 years since the last magnitude 8 or above struck Oregon.

Unfortunately, most Oregon buildings are not prepared for a strong earthquake. According to official reports, upwards of 300,000 children attend Oregon schools that are vulnerable to collapse in the event of a large scale earthquake.

The northwestern coast of Oregon is susceptible to both local and far-field tsunamis. The Cascadia Subduction Zone, where the eastward moving Juan de Fuca plate meets the westward moving North American Plate, is just off the Pacific Northwest coast of the United States and Canada.

It is a 750-kilometer long fault zone. This area is very active tectonically, and therefore has the potential to produce large earthquakes and possibly, subsequent tsunamis. This subduction zone is thought to have last ruptured in 1700.

Additionally, far-field earthquakes throughout the Pacific are also capable of spawning tsunamis that could eventually reach the Oregon coast. Historical records show that since 1812, about 28 tsunamis with wave heights greater than one meter have reached the U.S. west coast. Source

CASCADIA SUBDUCTION ZONE IS GETTING ACTIVE??

Apparently, (from this link my sister-in-law who has the gift of prophecy) there is some new activity going on precisely in the area where this fractured zone will rupture on Sept 26th this year. I still cannot believe the magnitude of the energy this thing will put out - but I keep telling myself that I could not believe my correct prediction of Sept 11th, 2001 and the death within our family in the virtual exact middle of my 33rd year, etc - and then it happened. THE EARTH WILL BE RENEWED AND RECIEVE ITS PARADISAICAL GLORY

AOF 10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

Wow - what a mouthful. I love the conciseness of the 13 Articles of Faith - a boatload of doctrine is carefully jammed into so few words. When dissected, I think there is alot of merit to what we have coming (this Fall) and what is jammed into that one run-on sentence. First, we have to have something that brings the 10 Tribes back - and they are not on this planet (previous blog piece). The New Jerusalem has to be built in an area that will not have so much as a yellow dog left to wag its tail (see previous blog piece about Heber C Kimball prophecy and how the docking of a large planet in our northern regions will cause all waters to rush north. There is ALOT of water in the Gulf of Mexico.... I have tried to convince folks in the midwest region to head for higher ground (min 2500 feet) so that they don't become a statistic when this all goes down - but then, who will be counting when the body count goes that high? There aren't enough body bags to go around. They will stack the bodies (of beast and man) in huge piles and burn them in order to make the wasted areas habitable once again.

The last thing is that the earth will receive its paradisaical glory and we will cruise joyously through the millennium in balmy bliss (clothing not optional this time around in paradise). Now, that presents a problem. We will continue to have our current regimen of seasons every year, so long as this earth remains on its current axis tilt. No axis tilt, and the entire earth's surface becomes arable year round - enough to make grain futures drop precipitously. But then, there will be no speculative markets in the Millennium - that hellish practice will be taken to the curb. If it lines someone's pocket at the expense of another, then; bye-bye (can't wait!!). There will be no axis tilt until there is massive bad juju - picture drunken man reeling to and fro with massive accelerations and land mass movements. During the last Elenin-induced Japanese EQ, we saw a M9.0 energy release which caused the land mass to move 8 feet. The Chile 8.8 caused the axis to move by several inches - just fractions of a degree. Changing the tilt by 15 degrees will be off the charts.... I went thru a M7+ EQ here in Western Washington that caused our Puget Sound rift to widen by approx 3 inches. That much energy boggled my mind then. We are in for some amazing things shortly. If survived, people will have awesome stories to tell their kids and grandkids. Its all about the great story for me. What are you doing to prepare so you have a story of your own - other than, "the last thing I remember before the tunnel of light was this massive shaking that threw me out of bed - and then here I was with you, great Aunt Gertrude. By the way - you look great!"? And that is a viable option; we should all be ready to meet Great Aunt Gertrude - but the story is so lame..... Writer's block really stinks. Get inspiration for a cooler ending and then buckle up....

I POINTED HER TO MY COMMENT BELOW THE PIECE THAT I SIMPLY HAVE NOT HAD THE SPIRIT ENDORSE WHAT HE HAD TO SAY. The Light From the Orion Super Nova


“One last thing about the Super Nova... It will rise in the sky at midnight on Sept 22, 2011. It will light up the Eastern sky as if it were dawn. And at dawn we are going to see 2 suns in the sky. Orion is only visible to the Northern Hemisphere and part of the Southern Hemisphere. The very bottom of the Southern Hemisphere can’t see Orion. What are they going to see? There will be multiple signs in the heavens. It just so happens if you live in the Antarctic, Argentina or South Africa you will see a double crescent moon caused by the Orion Super Nova. It would normally be a crescent moon at that time. What do you have to have on Rosh Hashana? A new moon, a double crescent moon! One by land, two by sea: One crescent, for the first coming; one crescent, for the second coming. On Sept 21st, astronomers have a great big telescope. On Sept. 21st, they are going to alert the whole world that Orion has gone Super Nova. They will see it exploding in their telescope. We cant see it with our naked eye until it climaxes.”

World is going to think that the ‘Light from the Red Super Nova’ which will light up the sky at midnight as if it were day time, will cause many throughout the world to believe that Jesus has returned and the Second Coming has happened. This is not the truth. This will be the ‘Opening of the 7th Seal’ and there will be a ‘Silence in the Heavens.’ Rev 9:15 An hour a day a month and a year? 42 Months? 5 Months? 2300 Days? for the space of one half hour. This half hour in heavenly time comes out to almost 22 years (there is the number 22 once again) before the actual Second Coming of Jesus Christ, July 1, 2033. It is very complicated according to the ancient calendars and all of the signs and clues throughout the scriptures and in the signs of heaven.

To conclude, I believe that there is a direct correlation between the dates of 9/11 with the Adversary’s inspired attack on the ‘Twin Towers’ and the ‘Opening of the 7th Seal’ yet to happen on, September 22/23, 2011. I propose that the Adversary inspired this happening as a counterfeit show of power to counter balance the events shortly to happen with the ‘Opening of the 7th Seal’. He is a copy-cat and a liar and his attempts are feeble and weak compared to the magnificent power of Heavenly Father’s omniscient power; which he is going to begin to reap upon the earth in just over nine mounths.


A Spiritual War That Started in the Heavens
During the Pre-Existence,
Still Rages on the Earth Today!


These Two events are the ‘Declarations of Battle’ prior to the ‘Last Great Battle that started in heaven during the pre-existence and has continued throughout the history of the world, between God’s elect children or Saints and Satan’s army of men influenced by his evil. There will be the fulfillment of the trumps being blown by the 7 Destroying Angels, that will usher in: natural disasters, disease and pestilence and world wars that will take place after the Opening of the 7th Seal on, September 22/23, 2011, before the Second Coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, just short of 22 years later, July 1, 2033.

To end, I would like to give Thanks unto my Heavenly Father for His diligent inspiration unto all of His servants throughout the ages. I can not begin to express my gratitude for that which He has done for me, by sending His only begotten and beloved Son, as a sacrifice for my sins. I could never hope to understand why He offers His Holy Son for me. He, being a God, would know that He Himself could fulfill this calling to satisfy the demands of justice for all of His other children, so that we may have a way to return unto Him through repentance. But no – that would be too easy for Him... So He ‘sacrificed’ His most sacred and Beloved, His Only Begotten and Beloved Son, Jesus. It had to be a perfect sacrifice, one that meant a lot unto Heavenly Father. I am so very thankful for all of the Prophets throughout the ages and now, I am also grateful for all of the faithful Saints throughout the ages, ‘Joan of Arc’, as well and our own ‘Pioneer Saints’. All Glory, I give unto my Heavenly Father for loving me so tenderly and for revealing many mysteries of the ‘Fruits of the Spirit’, unto His humble and ever so weak servants. I am so Thankful for all of the Love that has been showered upon me throughout my life... I boast not in myself, only that my Loving Father’s Holy Spirit is ever near me, inspiring me unto all truth and protecting me from all of the fiery darts of the evil one. My Heavenly Father is ever guiding my feeble footsteps upon this treacherous pathway, called this, ‘The Second Probation’, or mortality. For all of these wondrous gifts, I am eternally grateful and humbled and express my desire to bring a bit of light unto the glory that is my Father's Which Art in Heaven, waiting for all of His children to return unto Him.

A MIGHTY REPULSION BY A SICKENED WORLD

Previously, I did a post that really captured my imagination (CLICK HERE): Nature spontaneously singing praises to our Creator, the One Eternal God. All things bear witness of Him - and there is a level of tolerance that a perfect God has always borne for those who refuse to acknowledge him - because we all have our moments. I understand that because I am a father to children I love very much.

When all things (of a lesser order) bear witness to Him, and His crowning creation, Man, refuses to obey and bend his stubborn will to Father's - and that period of tolerance and long suffering is past, the hammer falls. When nature can, for the most part, seem to figure it all out where pairs naturally mate according to a self-correcting course where off-spring are not killed due to a matter of inconvenience, then why should we get a free pass. This earth (a living, breathing construct of our Father in Heaven), will seek to rid itself of something as backward and wrong as we have become - much like we would seek to rid ourselves of an invasion of ticks and fleas that could harm us.

We will soon see the very manifestation of that ridding of the infestation that we have collectively become. God help us all.

ANOTHER INTERESTING TIDBIT - MASSIVE TSUNAMI WEST COAST

I just got off the phone with my SIL from the midwest area who is a great woman on par with my good wife. We would like them to join us in the hills on our insane little exercise of self-preservation. I don't know if she realizes it - but there will (at some point) be as much devastation there as there will be here. It may be of a little different form, but utter chaos and devastation nevertheless. They will need to evacuate soon enough. Each couple has to come to that conclusion for themselves and act accordingly. That inspiration is the divine "filter" that God uses in the separation of the righteous and the wicked. Those that are able to heed the still small voice due to their spiritual proclivities automatically select themselves for continuance. The equation is simple - the effects of decisions total.

My wife struggles with how/why God would allow so many innocents to perish (kids, etc) and I just refer her to what happened during the flood. It was better that God hit the reset button and allow the succeeding generations of innocents to have a fair shake than to continue to allow his sweet ones to go to perverse homes where, due to surroundings and environment, their innocence would be sacrificed to the hellish whims of how their parents chose to live their lives. Sometimes, when we are lowered into the abyss and due to the ever so slight gradiations, cannot sense our impending danger, we become victims ourselves. Thus the analogy to those who have fallen into a deep sleep - it is intoxicating.

So, back on topic. My sister-in-law was telling my wife and I last night that as a 15 year old (living in the Portland area), she had a very vivid dream of a massive wave topping the coastal range and sloshing into the Willamette valley. That is a massive wave in order to get over those hills. She, for months, has been worried about her family here on the west coast. I now am just as incrementally concerned just a little bit more when that sounds in. My Catholic friend who had the incredible three nephites healing and conversion to God said it would make it as far inland as Eastern Washington and slosh around in that basin. My MIL had a similar dream where she was barely above the level where she was affected - I do not think that something under 2500' would be enough.

One more little piece of data with interesting implications. I think this M12.5 may come about, just as predicted.

JAPANESE EQ IS PRECEDED BY HEATING IN THE ATMOSPHERE

I have a wild-eyed guy at work who blames everything in the world on HAARP (High Altitude Aural Research Project) - but then the tin foil hat may be a little loose-fitting these days.... I think he is into the little green men "crop circles are real, man" bull puckey, as well.

Anyway, if I am correct that it may be more of an external factor such as gravitational effects of other bodies on our own, etc - this may be another piece of the puzzle. So Hoshanah Rabbah is a day of divine judgement - and a potential date for the "BIG ONE" in Utah with the Elenin alignment date. Interesting times we live in......

GAYLE'S NDE - EARTHQUAKE PROPHECY THAT FITS IN WITH ELENIN'S SCHEDULE

A friend of mine in Utah brought this to my attention. I forgot that Gayle had a significant experience and describes the event, time (of year) and location that all dove tail in perfectly with the events coming this fall. I still have to dig up the other corroborating stories (from my Dreams and Visions books) that led me to say with a level of certainty that there would be an earthquake on those late September and October dates - that later were discovered to be the Elenin alignments. What can someone say after reading this stuff?? Another slam dunk for the date, event and locations. Way too random to dismiss - and too many unassociated different voices to let slide.

Gayle also nails the time of year and event when Apophis comes in around 22 years after this thing and it nails us with a direct hit on Passover (and get this - Friday 13th, 2036). That is the curtain call for the wicked before we settle in for the 1000 years. Repentance is in order for all of us no matter where we are at in our personal progression to prepare to meet God - and our great Aunt Dinah..... If there is something in your lives that is not right, now is the time to get things in order. Time is short - and, if this stuff is spot on; what a unique thing to know and be able to use the little time that is left to prepare. Most people will just get bowled over and, for the most part, not even know what hit them. In some ways that would be more merciful - but I have a great sense of adventure and like messing with the odds to see what God can do for me, my wife and my little ones in punching through the eye of the needle into the Millennium. After it is all over, I want to be able to wear the t-shirt that says, "I survived Elenin, Apophis and the Anti-Christ". The stories that come out of the whole ordeal will make for killer "around the campfire" fare. That has been the purpose of this whole blog and preparedness - to figure out what is coming and be at the ready - not from a temporal "arm of the flesh" standpoint, but from a "watching and waiting with anticipation" standpoint. I am as excited as I can be for this stuff. I have no fear - I have been on the hoary edge of death many times - so I am running on life's reserve tank and just taking it one day at a time.

When I see the sign of the Son of Man coming (the one spoken of by Joseph Smith and in D&C), I will look to the New Jerusalem for his arrival because it happens before the 1/2 hour of silence. When you see the sign of the coming of the Son of Man, you will be looking at Old Jerusalem and will think you missed the boat because the 1st trump in your mind will already have sounded and the first resurrection will have already occurred because Christ comes to the Old Jerusalem with the seventh trump.
There are three appearances of Christ as you know. Take a look at when those three signs are given. One before the 1/2 hour of silence, which is the signal of the opening of the seventh seal, one at the sound of the trumpet to Old Jerusalem, well after the 1/2 hour of silence, and one after that when he appears to all the world. We have not even seen the first one yet. The half hour of silence has not begun yet. The opening of the seventh seal has not happened yet.
I know we are all anxious to have it happen, but it has not.
Take a look at this sign I speak of. Joseph Smith spoke of it. The D&C teaches of it. It happens before the 1/2 hour of silence. Even everyone on this forum speaks of it as if it has not happened. That is because it hasn't.

We read in the scriptures (Daniel ch. 7) that there is to be a grand council in the valley of Adam-ondi-Ahman, at which will be gathered all those who have held keys of dispensations, and a multitude of others. At this council reports will be given of stewardships by these servants who held the keys, Jesus Christ will come to take his rightful place as King of kings on the earth. At this council Adam will deliver up his stewardship along with the others, but will retain his standing as the head, or presiding officer, over the human family. Adam is named the "Ancient of Days," because, as the Prophet says, "Daniel in his seventh chapter speaks of the Ancient of Days; he means the oldest man, our father Adam, Michael, he will call his children together and hold a council with them to prepare them for the coming of the Son of Man." This is the opening of the seventh seal, the Millennium. Christ will have the keys, He will reign, but the earth will not know it because it all happened in a Priesthood Meeting at Adam ondi Ahmen.

Children of the Light?
Latter-day Saints' opinion on the subject of potential planetary near impacts, past and present, differs little from that of the general public. Sadly, most Mormons seem as indifferent to this concept as their secular and sectarian contemporaries. Yet, it probably should not be so.

Joseph Smith clearly held a catastrophist view of history and prophecy that included disasters originating in the heavens, which would have had devastating effects here on Earth. Speaking of the Second Coming, he said, "It is not the design of the Almighty to come upon the Earth and crush it and grind it to powder . . . ." (History of the Church, 5:337.) These words are not those of a gradualist or uniformitarian. They bespeak a catastrophist point of view. It is well established by this author that Joseph Smith's teachings on past and future events are patently catastrophist. (See The Prophecy Trilogy, Vol. 3, Ch. 1.) Given that fact, why are so many Latter-day Saints loath to accept this interpretation of history and prophecy? For the answer to that question, we will have to examine history.

Abandoning our roots

The restoration of the gospel began at the same time as a revolution in geology and biology. Popular opinion in Joseph Smith's day held that the Creation and Noah's Flood had largely shaped the world. Today they would be called creationists. Geologists like Hutton and Lyell disputed that view, noting that a rational interpretation of the geologic record argued for a very old planet altered only by slow processes over eons of time. They were gradualists.

In Joseph Smith's day, the gradualists were a minority, but by the latter half of the 19th century, the scientific and academic communities had spurned creationism and catastrophism to embrace gradualism completely. The general public was somewhat slower to shift opinion. Still, by the turn of the century, gradualism dominated the thought of the general public since it was, by that time, the only way the subject was taught in almost all academic settings.

Mormons in flux

This ideological shift presented a problem to Mormons who were in the process of trying to integrate with the larger American culture. Historically, the church and the government had been at odds, as any student of early church history knows. The Saints' exodus to the Great Salt Lake Valley originally put them outside the confines of the United States. However, they eventually found themselves once again within its boarders due to the westward expansion of the nation. This left the Saints with a difficult decision: move yet again, just as they had left Jackson County and then Nauvoo, leaving behind another city and temple erected from raw land, or accommodate the laws and cultural standards of the United States so they could keep their new desert home. The decision to remain and conform prevailed, and the Saints undertook the daunting task—-as history records that painful adversarial process—-of qualifying for statehood and citizenship.

To diminish tension and facilitate the process, Mormons sought to emphasize cultural similarities with the rest of America and suppress dissimilarities in hopes of reducing the antagonism of earlier days. This, they trusted, would help avoid further confrontations—-like the Johnston's Army incident, for example—-and ease tensions so that the church could finally put down permanent roots and better carry out its revealed mandate to preach the gospel.

Like the larger American population, the Mormons eventually embraced gradualism and for much the same reasons. Even though the position of the Prophet and early church members had been catastrophist, Mormons eventually found the idea of gradualism irresistible.

As a result, a new generation of Mormons did not entirely share their forefathers’ worldview because of the pressures from the greater society around them to conform to the common precepts taught by almost all educational institutions, including gradualism.

This ideological reversal on the Saints' part produced the desired effect. It opened doors to Mormons in American society that had formerly been closed, allowing them to pursue careers in politics, science and education; some eventually even attained tenure in prestigious institutions. There was now one less difference between Mormons and their American contemporaries.

A split personality

Yet, all this progress came at a price. The Saints' ideological shift to gradualism created an intellectual dichotomy in the 20th century. Their scriptures—-especially those new revelations that came with the restoration—-tell of a catastrophic Earth history. They also proclaim, emphatically and dramatically, a catastrophic future. Yet, the cultural beliefs Mormons had adopted to "fit in" with the rest of the Americans precluded such notions, categorically denying any such possibility.
This produced an intellectual dichotomy in the Saints’ worldview, creating a spiritual and academic scotoma that has only grown larger in the many years since.

This resulted in church members shifting ideological gears on a consistent basis. In a religious setting, they read and mouthed an ideology with catastrophist underpinnings; in a secular setting, such as the public and private educational system, they espoused the opposite ideology of gradualism. This has endured, strangely, to the present. It has become institutionalized, resulting in a sort of intellectual and religious schizophrenia.

In addition, there may have been one other, even more profound loss: Mormons no longer understood their scriptures as they were meant to be understood. While Joseph Smith's interpretation of prophecy and history may not seem essential to our salvation, it performs a vital function in our interpretation of revealed knowledge. Revelation regarding past or future events comes from a perspective that acknowledges the role of planetary catastrophes in Earth's past, present and future. The language of the prophets is steeped in it. So, if our paradigm does not include this perspective, we have no frame of reference with which to completely understand the revelation.

This is what the Apostle Peter meant when he wrote, "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." (2 Peter 1:20,21.) If the parties involved in any exchange do not share a common understanding—if one is a gradualist and the other a catastrophist—there will be a fundamental misunderstanding in the exchange of information. They do not share a common view, background or experience. Therefore, they do not interpret the data, information or truths, in the same way. Hence, there can be no "private interpretation" of the scriptures or prophecy. Both parties must have the same frame of reference. The fallible "will of man," or opinion of man, will only lead to misunderstanding.

To correctly understand the scriptures, prophecy or revelation itself, one must have the same frame of reference as the text itself, which is catastrophist. Thus, it may be that this paradigm shift in the last century left Mormons incapable of properly interpreting what had been given them by revelation regarding historic and prophetic events.

A systematic method of interpretation

The systematic method for interpreting historic and prophetic events, given us by Joseph Smith, is based on symbolism. (See The Prophecy Trilogy, Vol. 1, Ch. 3, for a list of such metaphors and their origins.) This puts the prophet squarely in the center of ancient prophetic tradition. In both the revelations he communicated to us and in the sermons he gave, Joseph used these symbols correctly and consistently.

For example, history speaks of water turning to blood, of stars falling from the heavens, of migrating seas and oceans. Knowing what has occurred in the past to give birth to such descriptive metaphorical phrases, one can determine what is meant by the same metaphor in another context—-prophecy, for example. That knowledge allows a consistent system of interpretation, rather than the extravagant guesswork and speculation engaged in by most scriptural exegetes. It also acknowledges a celestial origin for most religious iconography, ritual and metaphor.

The two faces of symbolism

Such symbolism has two aspects or facets: one literal, the other metaphorical. The literal aspect in the water-turned-to-blood example refers to a time in the past when Earth's waters were polluted by exogenous, ferriferous dust. Its use in prophecy refers to a repeat of this phenomenon. Its metaphorical aspect is simply a rhetorical, poetic representation of a physical event or phenomenon. The water does not turn into anything, much less blood. Such is the nature of all metaphor.

This aspect is also a reflection of the ancient mind that turned to dramatic imagery in order to describe the inexplicable. This does not imply that the ancients were somehow less intelligent, that they could not discern the reality in what they saw. Indeed, some—-Plato, for example, or Mormon—-clearly grasped the true nature of catastrophic events and so described them. (See Helaman 12: 8-17.) However, the extraordinary nature of the events ensured that most of the time they would be characterized in symbolic terms, as opposed to analytical terms. The colorful nature of metaphor is always more dramatic and appealing than cold, dispassionate analysis. In any case, the imagery of past catastrophes captured the imagination of the masses, leading to its widespread adoption and use.

The past is the key

It is vital that one have a firm grasp of the events and conditions in antiquity that produced gospel symbolism. The Lord alluded to that fact when he revealed that ". . . truth is knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come." (Doctrine & Covenants 93:24.) The intimate relationship between past, present and future events implied here must be recognized in order to correctly understand the truth when it is presented. This tripartite concept (past = present = future) is often repeated in the scriptures, especially in prophecy.

Undoubtedly, one of the functions of the School of the Prophets, if not the primary function, was educating the brethren in the many prophetic metaphors and symbols employed anciently, their variations, elaborations, their proper application and interpretation. By teaching the systematic interpretation of scriptural metaphors, religious rituals and iconography, the prophet ensured that the priesthood brethren understood their proper use and interpretation. They could interpret this symbolism wherever they came across it and not be misled by doctrinal distortions.

Equipped with this knowledge, any Latter-day Saint can also see that temple and religious iconography is the physical counterpart to rhetorical metaphor. That is to say, the metaphor reflects the meaning of the icon and the icon reflects the meaning of the metaphor. Those things depicted in religious art, architecture, rite and ritual, can also be found in religious rhetoric.

Knowledge: a key to discernment

Indeed, this is one of the keys used to discern a false prophet in a day and age when the meaning of these symbols and metaphors is largely unknown. Because a false prophet is not schooled in the knowledge of these things, he or she lacks the ability to properly use and interpret such symbolism and metaphor. Thus, the pretender's "revelations" and teachings lack these elements. They fail to properly employ the time-honored literary devices known to all true prophets because they are ignorant of the iconography of antiquity. Hence, they interpret prophecy no differently than any run-of-the-mill evangelical exegete.

For much the same reason, the apostate who has turned against the true religion can be a threat. Once intimately schooled in this knowledge of symbolism, the perpetrator has the power to do tremendous damage because he or she can deceive even the "elect," or those who know these symbols and their proper use.

This, too, is an excellent test for a true prophet: He will employ this symbolism properly and in a manner consistent with ancient tradition. While only the whisperings of the Spirit can completely confirm a prophet's claim to revelation, this is additional, intellectual confirmation, if you will. A true prophet will easily and correctly employ traditional, scriptural symbolism in his teachings, and that symbolism will certainly be present in all revelation he passes along to the Saints. In this respect, as in every other, Joseph Smith passed the test successfully.

Left to their own devices

Once the Saints had abandoned Joseph Smith's symbolism-based interpretation of scripture and prophecy, a vacuum appeared in their theology. They no longer had a yardstick or touchstone for interpreting most gospel symbolism. Since nature abhors a vacuum, a ready replacement was soon found in the eschatological thinking of sectarian Christianity. Mormonism, therefore, has largely adopted the prophetic interpretation of sectarian Evangelism, epitomized today by the writings of Hal Lindsay in his book, The Late, Great Planet Earth, or the teachings of Herbert W. Armstrong, a popular millennialist and radio evangelist of the 1950s, in his radio program, "The World Tomorrow." One can see evidence of this when comparing the views of the aforementioned evangelists with those of recent Mormon writers Cleon Skousen and Dwane Crowther. As one aphorism has it, "There ain't a dimes bit of difference between 'em."

Hence, we find Mormons generally interpreting prophetic utterances, ancient and modern, in remarkably similar ways to their evangelical, Christian cousins: metaphor is made literal and symbol is made modern. This leads to gross distortions in the interpretation of prophecy. For example, consider the unfounded interpretation of the year 2000 as the date for the second coming or the obsession with the number 666. It also leads to the creation of fictitious characters such as the Antichrist and fictitious events such as the Rapture. It seems apparent to this author that we may have allowed harmful sectarian notions to find their way into our catechism, just as Elder McConkie repeatedly warned before his death.

Time to reevaluate

Given all the recent discoveries coming out of the sciences regarding impacts and the prophetic warnings that repeatedly forewarn us of spectacular celestial events before the Second Coming, would it not be prudent for Latter-day Saints to reexamine our views? Would it not be wise for us to acknowledge, as modern science already has, that such things may happen? Should we not want to return to our roots in catastrophism, given us by Joseph Smith? If it was once our desire to conform to a trend that led us to abandon our catastrophist base, then why not conform to the newest trend of science, neocatastrophism, in order to return to our former beliefs?

Signs, ancient and modern, in the heavens

When we consider the magnitude and import of seeing the Shoemaker/Levi comet impact giant Jupiter in our own time, one wonders if this astronomical visual aid might not have been God's way of making a point. Was it done merely to amaze or amuse us? Was it done to keep the astronomers, scientists and scholars busy? Or was it, indeed, a sign, meant to awaken us from our apathetic complacency about the times we live in and the planet we live on? Should not Latter-day Saints be the first to recognize this?

The Nephites were given a sign of the Savior's birth. “. . . for behold, at the going down of the sun there was no darkness; . . . . And it came to pass that there was no darkness in all that night, but it was as light as though it was mid-day. And it came to pass that the sun did rise in the morning again, according to its proper order; and they knew that it was the day that the Lord should be born, because of the sign which had been given. . . .

“And it came to pass also that a new star did appear, according to the word.” (3 Nephi 1:15, 19,21.)

Thus, we see that God used the heavens, a celestial canvas, upon which to paint the sign of his Son's advent.

Recent history has given us a rather remarkable sign of our own. “On July 16, 1994, the first fragment of Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 entered Jupiter's stratosphere traveling at the speed of 60 kilometers per second—-that's about 134,000 miles per hour. Seconds later it exploded. A plume of shock-heated cometary material mixed with hot gases from Jupiter's atmosphere soared more than two thousand miles above the tops of Jupiter's clouds. As material from the plume fell back into the stratosphere of Jupiter, it left a large, crescent-shaped dark spot partly surrounding a smaller intense dark cloud that formed along the entry path of the comet.

“Two days later, Fragment G hit Jupiter with such force that its plume was, in some wavelengths of observation, fifty times brighter than the entire planet. By the end of impact week, Jupiter was bruised with the markings of 21 impacts, dark scars larger than Earth. Not in the 400-year history of the telescope has any planet displayed such dramatic new features. Nine months after the impact ended, Jupiter's southern hemisphere was graced with a belt of dark material, still easily visible through small telescopes.

“We are only now beginning to grasp the magnitude of what has happened.” (Cosmic Collisions, pp. 6, 7, from the foreword by David H. Levy and Carolyn & Eugene Shoemaker.)

Was the impact of a comet with Jupiter in our time any less of a sign than that given to the Nephites? The intent of that sign was to verify that, as Samuel the Lamanite had prophesied, the Son of God had been born. Could it be that the Shoemaker/Levi event was a demonstration to a disbelieving world—-Mormons in particular—-that such things can happen—-indeed, will happen—-to us?

Certainly, it was a verification of assertions by this author, the scriptures, the prophets and a multitude of modern catastrophists that such things do happen; that we live in an uncertain solar system that has seen numerous cosmic disasters in historic times; that old assumptions about a steady-state Earth wherein ". . . all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation . . ." (2 Peter 3:5.) are flawed; that we have been "willingly ignorant" in this enlightened, modern age, of the truths that the ancients sought to preserve in ritual and stone; that ". . . the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the Earth, which are now . . . are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment . . . ." (Ibid. 3:5, 6.)

As Latter-day Saints who have been given the restored gospel, we have a greater obligation to recognize and receive these things than does the rest of the world. Are we not designated as the “children of the light?”

My dear little children, praised be Jesus!

Little ones, thank you for coming to pray. Know how much God loves you. He has given you tremendous gifts.

Children, for the last 20 years I have oftentimes spoken of “change.” I have told you that there is no time for fear; there is only time for change. You must know by now that I have recently spoken of an arising of “two suns.” When you see the two suns on the horizon, you must know that this is a time of change, a time of this new beginning about which I have spoken to you before. After you see the two suns, there is only a short time before you will see a tremendous change in weather. After this, as you know, there are more changes to come.

Children, God did not create only the Earth. God is the Creator of the cosmos, with its many galaxies, many orbits, different stars and different planets. God is the Creator! There are other planets like earth, far beyond your understanding.

I can tell you this: Even your governments and the Church authorities already have knowledge of the stars aligning and its implications upon you. You must not fear but must be prepared, primarily spiritually.

After awhile, you will see a time when there is another body in orbit around your solar system, coming between Earth and the Sun and leading to tremendous devastation. Approximately 60-70% of the world’s population, as you know it, will cease. Of those who survive, 60% of them could die of disease and starvation.

Prayer is the answer! Prayer can mitigate much of anything to come. Love and unity must be at the forefront, not survival of the fittest. But I can assure you that secretly those in governmental positions around the world and Church authorities all know. As your Mother and with you as children of God, it is my duty to forewarn you and to draw you to my Son for protection.

Look not too far before you will see two suns (WE HAVE HAD TWO SUNS APPEAR LOW IN THE SKIES OF JAPAN - LINKS LATER). Make my words known to all people: Life is important because God loves you. Those who are in control of the financial world think differently. But I your Mother know what true Life is!

So prepare, spiritually prepare. You will always be with my Son if you trust. God has a special plan, a new beginning! Look to Him; and do not fear, but love with all your heart.

I look to you, and I answer your prayers. Even if you are a sinner, and even if you were wrong, I come for your intercession. Now you must remove your “self” from your desires and look to help all people.
