The Hill Cumorah is
the ultimate war memorial. It is the site of the final battles of the
Jaredites and the Nephites.
As a military
veteran myself, I pause to remember all those who have served in the
military, both those alive today and those who have passed on.
As a blogger here,
I pause to remember all those who have participated in the discussion about
the Hill Cumorah, including those who have spoken, written or taught about
the location of Cumorah, both those alive today and those who have passed on.
Below is a list of
some of those involved, grouped by where they taught the real Cumorah of
Mormon 6:6 is located. Their credentials are indicated.
Everyone on the
list is an exemplary individual, faithful, devoted, educated,
well-intentioned, etc. They have made their respective positions crystal
clear for everyone to see, as plain as words can be in all cases.
And there is no overlap between
these two groups. They are as distinct as it gets.
Every member of the
Church is free to choose which group to believe and follow when making a
decision about the location of the Hill Cumorah of Mormon 6:6.

I think this table is completely fair and accurate, but I know there are some individuals in the Mexico column who object to this classification.
However, they know as well as
everyone else that the teachings about Cumorah in each column of the table
are specific and clear. These are facts easily found and verified.
The most common rationalization
among those in the Mexico column is that the people in the New York column
were merely stating their opinions as men.
Everyone is welcome to accept that
interpretation.
Of course, that interpretation would
apply to anything the prophets teach that one wants to reject.
Some of those in the Mexico column
have persuaded themselves that the New York Cumorah is inconsistent with a
Mesoamerican setting for most of the events in the Book of Mormon, which they
take as a given.
But we all see the logical fallacy
there.
The Mesoamerican setting is a mere
assumption, based on a subjective interpretation of the text designed to fit
the assumption. It’s pure circular reasoning.
And, everyone is welcome to accept
logical fallacies, including circular reasoning.
But at the same time, everyone is
welcome to accept the teachings of the prophets.
No one is bound by the teachings of
the intellectuals, except those who don’t know what the prophets have taught.

A DREAM I HAD - TEL AVIV
So, when I dream, I rarely come out of it to take note and then immediately fall back into a dream state to finish it. But this one last night, I did.
I think it will happen as proscribed. Time will tell - and please take it with a grain of salt. Not trying to become a JR.... Thus the reason I am "the Wood Zone guy".... Anonymity has it's rewards, including saying what has to be said and no one being able to accuse me of slander. Love the blog.
The other day, some co-workers asked my opinion on doubage now that it is legal here in Canada. All three were trying to sell me on it. I explained how it probably would not hurt some strong people - but it is the addictive personality folks like me that could have a problem with it.
I was very clear that (other than a few exceptional medical cases), nobody I know has ever gotten into it and become a better person by the use of it. NO ONE! ZILCH! NADA! NO ONE!
I basically said that anyone I knew that got into it became what I call a Loser for having embibed (no drive, no goals, no life). Just enough drive to get the means (including stealing) to get the next hit.
Pathetic crap that makes you a slave. The adversary loves to see us addicted and abusing our mortal tabernacles. Yep - he loves to see us as losers in this high-stakes game.

Israel was about ready to put the hurt to Iran. Iran knew they had few options left (that Israel would succeed at what they were doing), so Iran was set and pre-empted Israel by firing on Tel Aviv, which caused the start of the 13 month war.I became lucid enough to be aware of what the dream was about - and then promptly fell asleep again. I remembered it in detail when I awoke.

JULIE ROWE IS OUT
Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later.
I am not sad. I have no interest in or sympathy for the energy healing crowd. Just as with Denver (testimony) Snuffer, she sought a following that eventually would eclipse loyalties to the pure doctrine of Christ, as taught by His faithful servants. No man can serve two masters.... Energy healing was a way to make money - and a form of Priestcraft. Julie used the good name of the Church to promote herself and increase her following.
Problem is, Elder Ballard did everything but actually name her in his talk denouncing the practice, etc. She still persisted. The right thing happened and she is now where she needs to be - in a place where she can evaluate her stance and make corrections, as she sees fit. She is at defiance with the 12 Apostles. Not a good place to be.
If I can find the Eric Smith podcast, I will post it.
Can people NOT see that what they are doing is Priestcraft? Do they not see that it is akin to what the d'evil did when he sought to deviate from Father's plan? Can they not see that they are part of the sifting - and that those that they cause to fall from the truth, will be upon their own heads? All of those sins?
I do not have those kinds of credentials, that paygrade to chip away at the Lord's chosen plan for the last days. What kind of pride or deception is it?
I suspect there is grandiosity involved. I suspect there is delusion involved. I suspect, as things were manifested in Ogden several years ago, that she is suffering a serious mental illness. Just sad to watch!

I was just reading in D&C 77 this morning and expect that those two prophets will be of Hebrew origin (most likely similar to Orson Hyde - of Jewish descent, but having the Holy Priesthood):

Folks, my wife suffers from this condition. It was a struggle for her as an abuse survivor at the hands of her step-father. From that, I believe she had PTSD based on certain physical markers I observed while we were dating but I had no data to go on in my naive 20's. She suffered a further blow with the loss of our son and our subsequent attempt to "catch up" when our family had a huge hole in it. We effectively had three kids 18 months apart on each one.
During the last pregnancy, I believe her body became depleted of basic nutrients - most likely B-12 and she descended into a state of post-partum at birth and then chronic lack of sleep with the last one being a fidgety baby in the night, led to hospitalization. If you have too many babies, the mother's body simply will deprive the mother to ensure the forming baby gets enough building blocks to sustain it's growth.
So, while she was recovering from her first bout with mental illness, I came across Tony Stephan's story (his wife, with nine kids, committed suicide). He is an amazing man - and when I met him at a meet-n-greet here in Cardston, I was floored that I met one of my inspirations in life.
And he truly is inspiring; he can preach a mean sermon. He UNDERSTANDS that the Book of Mormon was written for us as LDS. He understands we are close to the Lord's coming. He is one that questions orthodoxy that the MSM and the gubmint throws down our throats (propaganda), therefore, I hold him in esteem and respect him.

Anyone who knows me knows that I despise sports. Not that I did not embibe a little when I was a kid. I think they are great for exercise and building skills and young bodies and minds.
BUT - we have taken it to an art-form in these last days and it has become our idol; a big dumb, senseless, time-sapping idol. We now worship it in place of Sabbath. I have a family member who had a good marriage, but it kind of fell apart due partly to sports. I noticed on FB that this family was foregoing church to go to Sunday sports engagements. It seemed to increase until I found out that the marriage had fallen apart. Not saying there was a direct cause - but the two seemed to correlate. I was profoundly saddened by it.
And the flip side, is the despising of the root cause of much woe in the world today. I never participate in sports convos at work. I just state that I am not into it and walk away. That is not cool in Canada where hockey is king. It is an obsession. I just cannot help but think about how idolized these sports celebs are - and how little people know about the life and works of Jesus. Usually, the two are inversely proportioned. The thing that we spend the most time and mental exertion on, is our idol (it could be a house, car, career/job or any other thing that we deem important).

Before the 1990s, the deterioration of the weather in the early 1810s was considered by climatologists as normal for the Little Ice Age. A study of Greenland and Antarctic ice cores in the 1990s found markers that implied that a massive volcanic eruption had occurred in early 1809. The problem facing climatologists and volcanologists was that there were no recorded eruptions of the order of significance needed in this period.[4] Further research and bristlecone pine tree ring data pointed to the eruption being in 1808.[5]

Adding to the mystery was the expectation that any eruptions of that magnitude should have been noticed at the time. Records from the time throughout the world were checked but nothing appeared viable until the summer of 2014, when PhD student Alvaro Guevara-Murua and Dr Caroline Williams of the University of Bristol discovered an account of atmospheric events consistent with such an event by Colombian scientist Francisco José de Caldas.
De Caldas served as Director of the Astronomical Observatory of Bogotá between 1805 and 1810 and in 1809 reported a transparent cloud that obstructs the sun's brilliance at Bogotá. It had first been observed by him on 11 December 1808 and was visible across Colombia.[3] The cloud might have been a "dry fog", which is a sulfuric acid (H2SO4) aerosol.[3] He also reported that the weather had been unusually cold, with frosts.
To the south, in Peru, similar observations were made by physician Hipólito Unanue of Lima.[3] These reports led those involved to suggest that the window of the eruption was within 14 days of 4 December 1808.[3] De Caldas' and Unanue's accounts indicated the existence of a stratospheric aerosol veil spanning at least 2600 km into both northern and southern hemispheres. The only likely source for this would be a tropical volcano, most likely located in the southern hemisphere but not likely further than 20 degrees south longitude.[3]
An area in the tropics to the west of Colombia and Peru with candidate volcanoes and with little reporting at that time is the south-western Pacific Ocean between Indonesia and Tonga. This area had no European settlements at the time. Apart from the occasional sighting by European explorers, most of the reporting on volcanic activity, such as that in the Rabaul area, which has had VEI 6 eruptions, went back only to the mid-19th century.[6] There were oral histories of eruptions among the indigenous populations in these areas but these could not be dated with any degree of certainty.[7]
Known significant eruptions in 1808[edit]
In 1808 there were major eruptions in Urzelina, Azores in May (1st to 4th), and in Taal Volcano, Philippines in March.[8] Neither of these occurred within the correct time period for the visual observations.
It is known that the Chilean Putana volcano also had a major eruption around this time with an approximate date of 1810 (with a 10-year margin of error).[9]
