CALL TO DESTROY THE SECRET COMBINATIONS AMONG US

The secret combinations among us must be destroyed - or it will bring down this entire nation.  While this is not a political blog - the line between politics and spiritual matters is often blurred because nothing that is temporal was not first created or conceived spiritually.  They are intertwined - one cannot be touched on without touching the other one.  This is from a Facebook post from a group called "Latter Day Saints for Ron Paul" and this commenter relies heavily on quotes from President Ezra Taft Benson - which I heavily endorse!

I too, have to plead guilty of being a bit of a "conspiracy" kook on this one, as a prior poster has said they are. There is a malignant thing behind the scenes, and we have good history documenting just such evil.

Congressman Larry McDonald, a John Birch Society guy, super well informed, was murdered by the Establishment Moneychangers (who bankroll[ed] Communism all over the globe---with US Taxpayer support, of course. His message was much too potent for it to be tolerated. He pulled the curtain back on the FED for all to see how wrong it was, and that it was private. Yes, they "disappeared" him into oblivion, along with the rest of that flight from South Korea on a Boeing 747 in the early 1980's. Amazingly, the media just couldn't report who it was that was aboard that flight---a Congressman deeply hated by the CFR Moneychangers. The report was that it was shot down by the Russians for going into their airspace, but indeed that was the cover for something even more sinister. It was forced to land on an island, according to John Birch Society people who have sent and shared articles, and it's crew and passengers were never heard or seen again, for they had been "shot down." The plane however was never found, nor it's wreckage, nor bodies, nor anything whatsoever. (I should go find links and articles, but I won't now, people can go look themselves for the info.)

Then there was a congressman from idaho, I've heard people talk of how they set him up, he was a vocal opponent to the fed, and they destroyed his life and he spent most of his last years in Prison and they tortured him there brutally, destroying his ability to walk correctly and his health was a shambles as a result of the brutality and abuse. I'll have to go re-read and freshen up on details. Congressman Hansen, I think it was?

Gary North speaks of a conversation with W. Cleon Skousen talking about Reagan having the CFR Moneychangers bringing him to heel, letting him know that if he did not choose G. H. W. Bush as his running mate, he would never see the White House as President. And what happened at the RNC in 1980 when Reagan announced CFR Bush as VP? People were stunned. Bush had been a vicious opponent to Reagan, a very harsh critic, and then at the last minute, Reagan would be stupid enough to choose this monstrous man as his VP? This was the "voodoo economics" guy who trashed Reagan constantly, a man who was CIA director, and we even have evidence was part of the nasty operation in the Kennedy assassination. (I hope I'm not opening up too many cans of worms here, there are books and documentaries on all these topics.)

Then, the globalists shot Reagan and miraculously he survived. With that bullet, they had given him warning and put him on alert, he was not in the driver seat. It was the CFR who surrounded him along with his VP who were running the show, along with the shadow government behind the scenes.

And who runs the shadow government of the Moneychangers? Well, here we have the real statement---a statement that a friend shared in his Highland, Utah ward back in the Bush years which upset many in the combined Priesthood and Relief Society meeting where he, as High Preist Groupleader gave the lesson:

“The United States is not the kingdom of God, neither is England, Germany, or France….Satan has control now. No matter where you look, he is in control, even in our own land. He is guiding the governments as far as the Lord will permit him. That is why there is so much strife, turmoil, and confusion all over the earth. Today, this "secret combination" that seeks the overthrow of all nations, lands and countries has had over 25 years of strengthening since Ezra Taft Benson in 1988 stated it was/is "increasing its evil influence and control upon America and the entire world."

Why are we to "awake to a sense of our awful situation" as commanded in Ether 8 of the Book of Mormon? Because, we have indeed permitted and suffered this secret combination to be built above us, and it will not tolerate a Ron Paul for president, as it would not tolerate a Ronald Reagan implementing his campaign promises. It will not sit back with all the murders and devastation it has done to date, and let the Paul's continue to be the focal point of a mass movement running against their control grid and rising tyranny. No. There has been a private conversation and/or meeting of some sort with the Paul's. They've surely been spoken to and given the terms laid out in how the game is played. Perhaps they've been threatened with the murder of family members? Perhaps they've been given threats of a myriad types that one can speculate on? Something has happened, there is something that has occurred of malignity and threat. Rand Paul now flees interviewers that hitherto he was most gracious with. (Luke Rodowsky.)

Truly, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against evil wickedness in high places, and until the vast majority repent and change their upholding of these moneychanger backed, CFR politicians, this secret combination will grow and strengthen until it unleash a blood bath, and surely, the blood bath will ultimately be turned upon the heads of all those who have sworn allegiance to it, for God has decreed that all who suffer this secret combination to be built up above us, will be overthrown to their own destruction when it is fully accepted and spreads into the whole country. When this country begins to murder those resisting this secret combination, then will surely the judgements of God fall in righteous wrath upon this nation and break it to pieces like a "potters vessel" as has been prophesied by Wilford Woodruff, unless this nation of people repent of their political sins and otherwise.

Thank goodness that despite all of the evil, all of the sophistry and lies, there has been enough of support of right by enough citizens to have actually sparked the "Ron Paul Revolution" and the remarkable way it has spread. There is a “remnant in the land” who value freedom and liberty, who are versed in the principles of the US Constitution, and they do not accept, but resoundly reject the sophistry of “ambitious and scheming leaders” who bring us the Warfare/Welfare statism and its growing oppression and tyranny, taxes from which there is little or no relief.

For this freedom movement it to succeed, however, and the US Constitution to be once again enthroned as "inviolate," the "more part of the righteous" need to awake from the sleep of hell and cease upholding evil and wickedness---cease upholding evil schemers and incumbent traitors to the US Constitution, such as Orrin Hatch, Mitt Romney and others who uphold ghastly abominations like the NDAA with its provisions to murder US Citizens and strip them of their due process. These men indeed, "wear the mask of honesty" and deceive many good intentioned people to surrender principle for sophistry.

LDS Church President, Ezra Taft Benson, plead with the church to re-read once again the account of 3 Nephi in the Book of Mormon---or rather, it was the Lord ultimately making the plea---then likening and paralleling that book to our time with this critical point of many points made:

“Secret combinations flourished because, as Helaman tells us, the Gadianton robbers ‘had seduced the more part of the righteous until they had come down to believe in their works and partake of their spoils’ (Helaman 6:38). . . even as today.” (Conference Report, April 1987, Ensign, May 1987, p. 4.)

Benson, like Gordon B. Hinckley years later, tried to wake the people, for the Book of Mormon, they both asserted, is “as current as the morning newspaper.”

Sadly, not enough in the LDS church "know and love" the Book of Mormon. But a Seer, standing before the church, clearly stated the consequence between those who did know and love the book, versus those who do not. This he did in the First Presidency Christmas Devotional of 1986:

"I have noted within the Church a difference in discernment, insight, conviction, and spirit between those who know and love the Book of Mormon and those who do not. That book is a great sifter." THE VISION OF GENERAL GEORGE MCLELLAN

The Vision of General George McClellan

Closely related to George Washington's Vision, but not as well known is a vision given to General George B.
McClellan, one of the generals who took part in the second peril against America ( see George Washington's
Vision. ) The only source I know concerning this Vision is the Evening Courier of Portland, Maine. It carries
a lengthy account of a vision purporting to be the General's own words. The General was alive at the time and
could have reputed the account and demanded an immediate retraction if it were false! General McClellan is
not as well known as other military leaders, in America, but he did serve his country well, despite his faults
and his disagreements with President Lincoln which eventually led to his removal from his Command. At the
time of this vision, McClellan had gone to Washington, D.C. to take over the command of the United States
Army. This being the third day since his arrival, he was working, at two o'clock at night, over the reports of
scouts and checking his maps. Being weary from work he leaned his head on his arms on the table and fell
asleep. In about ten minutes the locked door suddenly opened, and in strode someone right up to him and in
a voice of authority said: "General McClellan, do you sleep at your post? Rouse you, or ere it can be
prevented, the foe will be in Washington. The General then gives some details of his strange feelings.
Seemingly suspended in infinite space from a hollow distance above him, he heard a voice. He started up - not
really knowing whether he was awake or not. The walls of the room, with its furniture and other objects were
no longer visible, but the maps covering the table were still before him. Then, he was gazing upon a living
map of America from the Mississippi river to the Atlantic Ocean. The General was unable to identify the
being standing before him, only a vapor having the general outline of a man. Then he looked at the
mysterious map before him and was amazed to see the movements of the various troops and had a complete
picture of the enemy's lines and distribution of forces. Being greatly elated, he felt he now knew what
strategy to use to end the way speedily and victoriously. But then the elation gave way to great
apprehension, because on this moving map, he saw the enemy's soldiers moving to the very position he had
intended to occupy in a few days. He then knew that the enemy was aware of his plan of attack. Then the
voice spoke again, "General McClellan, you have been betrayed. And had not God willed otherwise, ere the
sun had set the Confederate flag would have waved above the Capitol and your own grave. But note what you
see. Your time is short." Noting the movement of troops of on the living map- he took his pencil and
transferred their position to the paper map on his desk. Then McClellen was aware of the figure near
becoming luminous with light and glory, bright as the noonday sun. Then raising his view he looked into the
face of George Washington. Sublime and dignified our first President looked upon the bewildered General
and spoke the following: "General McClellan, while yet in the flesh, I beheld the birth of the American
Republic. It was indeed a hard and bloody one, but God's blessing was upon the nation and therefore, though
this, her first great struggle for existence, He sustained her and with His mighty had brought her out
triumphantly. A century has not passed since then, and yet the child Republic has taken her position of peer
with nations whose pages of history extend for ages into the past. She has, since those dark days, by the favor
of God, greatly prospered. And how, by very reason of this prosperity, has been brought to her second great
struggle. This if by far the most perilous ordeal she has; passing as she is from childhood to opening
maturity, she is called on to accomplish that vast result, self-control, self rule, that in the future will place
her in the van of power and civilization... "But her mission will not then be finished for ere another century
shall have gone by, the oppressors of the whole earth, hating and envying her exaltation, shall join
themselves together and raise up their hands against her. But if she shall be found worthy of her high calling
they shall surely be discomfited, and then will be ended her third and last great struggle for existence.
Thenceforth shall the Republic go on, increasing in power and goodness, until he borders shall end only in the
remotest corners of the earth, and the whole earth shall beneath her shadowing wing become a Universal
Republic. Let her in her prosperity, however remember the Lord her God, her trust be always in him, and
she shall never be confounded." After this, Washington raised his hand over the General's Head in blessing
and immediately a peal of thunder rumbled through space. McClellan awoke with a start and found himself in
his room and spread out before him on the table were his maps. In viewing the maps, he noticed a
difference, for they were covered with marks, signs, and figures which he had made during the vision. The
General had to walk around the room to realize he was actually awake. Then, taking another look at the
maps he found the markings still there. Realizing this experience was Divinely given, he ordered his horse
saddled and went from camp to camp ordering changes to be made, which were necessary to frustrate the
enemy's planned offensive. The strategy was successful and prevented the City of Washington from being
captured. The Confederate Army, at that time was so close that Abraham Lincoln sitting in the White House
could hear the roar of Confederate artillery. Thus the Union was saved and General McClellan concludes his
account of his Vision with these words.: "Our beloved, glorious Washington shall again rest quietly, sweetly
in his tomb, until perhaps the end of the Prophetic Century approaches that is to bring the Republic to a third
and final struggle, when he may once more laying aside the cements of Mount Vernon, become a Messenger
of Succor and Peace from the Great Ruler, who has all Nations of this Earth in His keeping. "But the future
is too vast for our comprehension; we are children of the present. When peace shall have folded her bright
wings and settled our land the strange, unearthly map marked while the Spirit eyes of Washington looked
down, shall be preserved among American Archives as a precious reminder to the American nation what in
their second great struggle for existence, they owe to God and the Glorified Spirit of Washington. Verily the
works of God are above the understanding of man!"

WE SHOULD ALL SHAKE THE VERY FOUNDATIONS OF HELL

I have been ruminating on this scripture the last few days. The words that have popped out at me have been those that describe knowing when to stay and fight and when to run from evil and aggression. I think these words will come in handy as we see tyranny raise its ugly head all around us - and from surprising sources.....but, then; this is not a political blog....

LIVING IN A SLAVE STATE

April 15th is coming and I was just curious about options if the tax burden is too high this year. If I wasn't convinced before, I am convinced now that I am living in a slave state, where at one point when our federal taxes were implemented to support what seemed to be a just war, we were asked that we contribute a meager 1% in order to pay down the war debt. That with a promise that it would never increase. And here we are.....

The Worst Thing You Can Do Is To Do Nothing
What happens if April 15th rolls around and you just can't come up with the money to pay your Federal income tax? There are separate penalties for filing late and paying late, and the "failure to file" penalty is much worse than the "failure to pay" penalty:

(Please note that the interest rates used in these examples vary each quarter). Failure to file on time penalty: 5% of the balance due per month as of the time of this writing

Failure to pay on time penalty: up to 1% of the balance due per month,up to a total of 25% of the balance due

To reduce your penalties and interest, file your income tax return by the due date. You'll still incur interest, but you'll avoid the 5% per month penalty for failure to file on time.

For example, if you don't file your return by the due date, and you owe $2,000, you'll pay a combined failure to file and failure to pay penalty of $120 per month until paid in full, up to a maximum of $500. If you owed $10,000, the penalty would be $600 per month, up to a maximum of $2,500.

If you file on time but don't pay on time, you'll incur a late payment penalty of 1% of the tax owed for each month, or part of a month, that the tax remains unpaid, up to a maximum of 25%.

For example, if you file your return by the due date but don't pay your balance of $2,000, you'll pay a late payment penalty of $20 per month. If your balance due is $10,000, your penalty will be $60 per month. As you can see, your penalties are significantly lower if you file your return on time even if you don't pay the taxes due

The penalty is only part of the problem. In addition to the non-payment or late-payment penalty discussed above, you'll also incur interest on the balance due at the rate of 6% per year (as of January 2006. Rates can change quarterly).

Consider Your Alternatives

Consider the alternatives available to you. If your cash shortage is a temporary one, can you get a pay advance at work? Do you have family members who would be willing to lend you the money? Do you have something of value that you could sell to raise the cash? Can you take a draw on your home equity line of credit?

Use a Credit Card

You can charge your taxes on your credit card (American Express, MasterCard, Visa or Discover Card) by contacting a service provider approved by the IRS. You'll be charged a convenience fee of around 2.5% of the amount you're paying, so if you owe $2,000, the fee will be around $50. If you owe $10,000, the fee will be around $250. Don't forget that you'll incur interest charges if you can't pay your credit card balance off quickly.

Negotiate an Installment Plan

If you simply can't come up with the money to pay the taxes when due, you may be able to negotiate an installment payment plan with the IRS. Complete Form 9465, Installment Agreement Request, and attach it to the front of your income tax return. Include the amount you propose to pay each month and the day of the month you'd like to make your payments. The IRS will notify you if you're approved.

There's a $43 fee for setting up the installment agreement,and you'll incur interest on the balance due.

What If You Just Can't Come Up With the Money Now, or in the Foreseeable Future?

If you owe so much that there's no way you'll ever be able to pay it, the IRS may accept less than the full amount through a program called Offer in Compromise. Complete Form 656, Offer in Compromise, and Form 433A, Collection Information Statement and submit them to the IRS with the $150 application fee.

You'll have to provide a complete personal financial statement including everything you own of value, all the debts you owe, your income, and the amount you're prepared to pay immediately in order to settle your account.

The IRS will evaluate your financial situation and future income potential to determine whether to accept your settlement offer. If the IRS believes it won't be able to collect the full amount, your offer may be accepted. This program is for people in dire financial straits.

Regardless of an installment plan or Offer in Compromise agreement, the IRS will require you to pay all your federal tax liabilities on time for the next five years or until the amount you settled on is paid in full, whichever is longer. If you default on the terms of the Offer in Compromise agreement, all of your back taxes will once again be due in full. The IRS may file a lien on your property to ensure payment, and this will show up on your credit report.

The Bottom Line

This can all be very confusing, but the bottom line is this: even if you can't pay your taxes due, don't compound your problems by failing to file your income tax return. You could end up paying penalties totaling half the amount you owe, before interest is even added on!

Ayn Rand who authored "Atlas Shrugged" was from a communist country and was an atheistic (she spouts the korihorean brand of religion and I am sure is enjoying some nice R&R in the spirit pokey to cool her heels) philosopher who extolled the free market but predicted that socialism would strangle the free market due to greed and other forces of human nature. AMERICA'S FUTURE

The future of the United States is glorious, but a cleansing must precede its final destiny.

As has been seen, the establishment of this nation was a necessary early step toward the final acts of the great latter-day drama of the Lord. The restoration of the gospel and the kingdom of God is, of course, likewise prologue to the coming of the Savior.

To restore the kingdom of God is one thing; to bring its mission to fruition is quite another. But it will come—and on this land. Indeed it will be glorious.

The kingdom of God is now on earth. It is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The kingdom of heaven is yet to come, to be merged with the kingdom of God when Christ reigns.

President Joseph F. Smith defined the kingdom of God like this: "What I mean by the kingdom of God is the organization of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, over which the Son of God presides, and not man. That is what I mean." (Gospel Doctrine, p. 72.)

In October of 1831 the Lord gave a revelation to the Prophet Joseph Smith, section 65 of the Doctrine and Covenants, in which he said: "Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight."

It was like the message of John the Baptist heard again in modern times.

Giving an insight into the future events and the meaning of it all, the Lord then continued:

The keys of the kingdom of God are committed unto men on the earth, and from thence shall the gospel roll forth unto the ends of the earth, as the stone which is cut out of the mountain without hands shall roll forth, until it has filled the whole earth.

Yea, a voice crying—Prepare ye the way of the Lord, prepare ye the supper of the Lamb, make ready for the Bridegroom.

Again how like it is to the Baptist's warning at the first advent of Christ. The Lord then added:

Call upon the Lord, that his kingdom may go forth upon the earth, that the inhabitants thereof may receive it, and be prepared for the days to come, in the which the Son of Man shall come down in heaven, clothed in the brightness of his glory, to meet the kingdom of God which is set up on the earth.

Wherefore, may the kingdom of God go forth, that the kingdom of heaven may come, that thou, O God, mayest be glorified in heaven so on earth, that thine enemies may be subdued; for thine is the honor, power and glory, forever and ever. (Italics added.)

It is a remarkable revelation, and it will be fulfilled here in America. The great modern city of New Jerusalem will be built in Jackson County, Missouri (see D&C 57), in the heartland of America. That is what the centuries of preparation were all about.

The Prophet Joseph declared that "the whole of America is Zion itself from north to south, and is described by the Prophets, who declare that it is the Zion where the mountain of the Lord should be, and that it should be in the center of the land." (History of the Church, 6:318-19.)

Jackson County is equidistant from coast to coast and from border to border in the United States. It is the center of the land, and there the city of Zion, or the New Jerusalem, will be built, a place of refuge and peace for the latter days.

How important this is! What a great destiny! How wonderful is the future of America!

It is just as we say in our tenth Article of Faith:

We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion will be built upon this [the American] continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

And it is as Isaiah said so long ago when he looked to our day: ". . . for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem" (Isaiah 2:3), and this to all the world.

By revelation in July 1831, the Lord designated Jackson County as the place for the city of Zion. (See D&C 57 and 58.)

The presiding brethren went from Kirtland to Independence, Missouri, where, under the direction of the Prophet Joseph, that land was dedicated by Sidney Rigdon on August 2, 1831. The Saints from Colesville, who had settled in Kew County, Missouri, were directed by the Prophet in laying the first log "for a house, as a foundation of Zion, in that place." The log was carried by twelve men representing the twelve tribes of Israel.

Wrote the Prophet: "It was a season of joy to those present, and afforded a glimpse of the future, which time will yet unfold to the satisfaction of the faithful." (Joseph Fielding Smith, Essentials in Church History, Deseret Book, 1974, p. 110, Italics added.)

The words of President Rigdon as he consecrated the land are the interesting: "I now pronounce this land consecrated and dedicated unto the Lord for a possession and inheritance for the Saints, and for all the faithful servants of the Lord to the remotest ages of time. In the name of Jesus Christ, having authority from Him. Amen." (History of the Church, 1:196. Italics added.)

The faithful Saints made a heroic effort to build the city at that time, as the Lord had directed. Great divine promises were made to them if they would do so faithfully. But there were dissonants among them who hedged up their way and who caused discontent and even enmity among some of the Saints, and this was displeasing to the Lord.

It was the plan of the Lord that the city of Zion should actually be started at that time, or he would not have called his people there for that purpose. But he can only work on righteous principles, and when his people do not observe his commandments, he cannot work through them.

As he projected the city of Zion at that time, he said that "the city of New Jerusalem shall be built by the gathering of the saints, beginning at this place, even the place of the temple, which temple shall be reared in this generation." (D&C 84:4.) That was his instruction. He was ready to proceed with this great undertaking—if the people were worthy and able. He had given revelation commanding the Saints to gather there to build the city and the temple. Many had already arrived, and many more were expected.

As the Lord described the temple to them—the building they were invited and commanded to erect—he said that "this generation shall not all pass away until an house shall be built unto the Lord, and a cloud shall rest upon it, which cloud shall be even the glory of the Lord, which shall fill the house." (D&C 84:5.)

Some of those Saints were later to see this very thing take place at the Kirtland Temple, where indeed the glory of the Lord was present.

But the promises thus made by the Lord for Jackson County rested upon the obedience and righteousness of the Saints. He gave them the opportunity, one of the most blessed in the latter days, to erect the temple and city of Zion. But they could not—or did not.

A number of the brothers and sisters became rebellious and by doing so made it impossible for the Lord to use them in this holy enterprise, the building of Zion. Their stubbornness cancelled out all of the sacred promises so far as they themselves were concerned and forced an indefinite postponement of their fulfillment.

Hence, in their day neither the city nor the temple could be built as the Lord had promised them if only they had been faithful. By their wickedness they forfeited this great privilege. The work now must await a later and more righteous generation of Saints.

Because of the Saints' lack of harmony, the Lord allowed the mobs to come upon them all, worthy and unworthy alike, and the whole colony was driven out, the obedient, as usual, being compelled to suffer with and because of their disobedient brothers and sisters.

Since such impressive promises had been made concerning the building of the city and its temple at that time, and since now all seemed to be lost, the Prophet Joseph was deeply disturbed. He could not understand why the Lord had allowed the mobs to so afflict the Saints. He pleaded in humble prayer for an answer and was told:

1, the Lord, have suffered the affliction to come upon them, wherewith they have been afflicted, in consequence of their transgressions.

Behold, I say unto you, there were jarrings, and contentions, and envyings, and strifes, and lustful and covetous desires among them; therefore by these things they polluted their inheritances.

They were slow to hearken unto the voice of the Lord their God; therefore, the Lord their God is slow to hearken unto their prayers, to answer them in the day of their trouble.

In the day of their peace they esteemed lightly my counsel; but, in the day of their trouble, of necessity they feel after me. (D&C 101:2, 6-8.)

Thus the Lord withdrew his promised blessing, allowing the mobs to prevail, and the Saints were forced to leave their Zion.

Were the plans of the Lord then to be frustrated? No! They never are! But in this, as in other instances where the people have disobeyed, he simply postponed his plans. And so he said: "Therefore, in consequence of the transgressions of my people, it is expedient in me that mine elders should wait for a little season for the redemption of Zion." (D&C 105:9.)

So all was postponed: the building of the city, the construction of the great temple, the gathering of the people to that place. The promises that had been made were for the time being suspended.

But all this was only a postponement. Otherwise, plans were not changed. "Zion shall not be moved out of her place," the Lord promised; the Saints will yet return "to build up the waste places of Zion—And all these things that the prophets might be fulfilled. And, behold, there is none other place appointed; neither shall there be any other place appointed. . . ." (D&C 101:17-20.)

So in the Lord's own time the city will yet rise in its glory. In the Lord's own time his temple will yet be erected. A new generation will be allowed to carry on instead of those who began it, but who, "because of transgression," were not permitted to continue it. Transgressors cannot build the city of Zion nor its temple, for "Zion cannot be built up unless it is by the principles of the law of the celestial kingdom; otherwise I cannot receive her unto myself." (D&C 105:5. Italics added.)

But Jackson County—in the United States—is still the place for it, and its development will be a part of the future destiny of America.

In writing to N. E. Seaton, a publisher in Rochester, New York, on January 4, 1833, the Prophet Joseph said:

The city of Zion spoken of by David, in the one hundred and second Psalm, will be built upon the land of America. "And the ransomed shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads" (Isaiah xxxv: 10); and then they will be delivered from the overflowing scourge that shall pass through the land. But Judah shall obtain deliverance at Jerusalem. See Joel ii:32; Isaiah xxvi: 20 and 21; Jeremiah xxxi:12; Psalm 1:5;Ezekiel xxxiv: 11, 12 and 13. These are testimonies that the Good Shepherd will put forth his own sheep, and lead them out from all nations where they have been scattered in a cloudy and dark day, to Zion, and to Jerusalem. . . . (History of the Church, 1:315. Italics added.)

In the same letter he predicted that the United States will be cleansed of the wicked by pestilence, hail, famine, and earthquake "to open and prepare the way for the return of the lost tribes of Israel." (Ibid.)

The overflowing scourge he refers to is mentioned by the Lord in section 5 of the Doctrine and Covenants, wherein he says:

For a desolating scourge shall go forth among the inhabitants of the earth, and shall continue to be poured out from time to time, if they repent not, until the earth is empty, and the inhabitants thereof are consumed away and utterly destroyed by the brightness of my coming.

Behold, I tell you these things, even as I also told the people of the destruction of Jerusalem [Matthew 24]; and my word shall be verified at this time as it hath hitherto been verified. (D&C 5:19-20.)

It is referred to likewise in Doctrine and Covenants 45:31.

But the Prophet, as above quoted, says the righteous will be delivered from this affliction. Also in the United States, the Ancient of Days, Father Adam, who is Michael the archangel, will come prior to the final day, there to meet the Saints and the Savior. That will be at Adam-ondi-Ahman, which again is in Missouri.

President Wilford Woodruff quoted Brigham Young as saying, "Joseph, the Prophet, told me that the Garden of Eden was in Jackson County, Missouri. When Adam was driven out he went to the place we now call Adam-ondi-Ahman. Daviess County, Missouri. There he built an altar and offered sacrifices." (Matthias F. Cowley, Wilford Woodruff: History of his Life and Labors, Bookcraft, p. 481.)

Tribulations will not deter the work of the Lord. Both latter-day movements—the pouring out of tribulations upon the wicked and the forward march of the kingdom of God—will go forward simultaneously, neither one obstructing the other.

Said President Joseph F. Smith:

The kingdom of God is here to grow, to spread abroad, to take root in the earth, and to abide where the Lord has planted it by his own power and by his own word in the earth, never more to be destroyed nor to cease, but to continue until the purposes of the Almighty shall be accomplished, every whit that has been spoken of it by the mouths of the holy prophets since the world began. (Gospel Doctrine, p. 76.)

President John Taylor made this declaration:

It has been asked . . . whether this kingdom will fail. I tell you in the name of Israel's God it will not fail. I tell you in the name of Israel's God it will roll forth, and that the things spoken of by the holy prophets in relation to it will receive their fulfilment. But in connection with this I will tell you another thing: A great many Latter-day Saints will fail, a great many of them are not now and never have been living up to their privileges, and magnifying their callings and their priesthood, and God will have a reckoning with such people, unless they speedily repent. (Gospel Kingdom, p. 137. Italics added.)

President Taylor further said:

When the people shall have torn to shreds the Constitution of the United States, the elders of Israel will be found holding it up to the nations of the earth and proclaiming liberty and equal rights to all men, and extending the hand of fellowship to the oppressed of all nations. This is part of the program, and as long as we do what is right and fear God, he will help us and stand by us under all circumstances. (Gospel Kingdom, p. 219.)

President Harold B. Lee said:

. . . this nation, founded on principles laid down by men whom God raised up, will never fail. . . . I have faith in America; you and I must have faith in America, if we understand the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ." (Ye Are the Light of the World, Deseret Book, 1974, p. 351. Italics added.)

If we have any doubt about the part the United States will continue to play in this great unfolding drama, President Brigham Young's words will reassure us:

When the day comes in which the Kingdom of God will bear rule, the flag of the United States will proudly flutter unsullied on the flag staff of liberty and equal rights, without a spot to sully its fair surface; the glorious flag our fathers have bequeathed to us will then be unfurled to the breeze by those who have power to hoist it aloft and defend its sanctity.

How long will it be before the words of the prophet Joseph will be fulfilled? He said if the Constitution of the United States were saved at all it must be done by this people. It will not be many years before these words come to pass. (Discourses of Brigham Young, p. 360.)

After its cleansing, the United States will go on under righteous leadership, as the "home base" of the Lord's latter-day operations, looking toward the glorious coming of the Holy One of Israel.

Through all the tribulations, the Saints who obey the commandments will be preserved to complete their work.

Said the prophet Nephi concerning these days:

For the time soon cometh that the fulness of the wrath of God shall be poured out upon all the children of men; for he will not suffer that the wicked shall destroy the righteous.

Wherefore, he will preserve the righteous by his power, even if it so be that the fulness of his wrath must come, and the righteous be preserved, even unto the destruction of their enemies by fire. Wherefore, the righteous need not fear; for thus saith the prophet, they shall be saved, even if it so be as by fire.

Behold, my brethren, I say unto you, that these things must shortly come; yea, even blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke must come; and it must needs be upon the face of the earth; and it cometh unto men according to the flesh if it so be that they will harden their hearts against the Holy One of Israel.

For behold, the righteous shall not perish; for the time surely must come that all they who fight against Zion shall be cut off.

And the righteous need not fear, for they are those who shall not be confounded. But it is the kingdom of the devil, which shall be built up among the children of men, which kingdom is established among them which are in the flesh. (2 Nephi 22:16-19, 22.)

And then Nephi concludes:

And now behold, I, Nephi, say unto you that all these things must come according to the flesh.

But, behold, all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people shall dwell safely in the Holy One of Israel if it so be that they will repent. (1 Nephi 22:27-28.)
