STATE PREPARING FOR ECONOMIC/SOCIAL COLLAPSE

Folks, this is serious as a heart attack. We now have members of the Union (including Texas) making solid plans to deal with the contingency of a total collapse that would largely spare them from the chaos.

I cannot believe this is happening in my lifetime:

Wyoming lawmaker introduces doomsday bill

CHEYENNE – Fearing an economic and political collapse nationwide, Wyoming lawmakers are moving ahead with legislation to deal with a doomsday scenario -- complete with plans to create a state currency.

“Things happen quickly sometimes — look at Libya, look at Egypt, look at those situations,” the bill’s GOP sponsor State Rep. David Miller told the Star-Tribune in Casper. “We wouldn’t have time to meet as a Legislature or even in special session to do anything to respond.”

According to the Star-Tribune, House Bill 85 would create a state-run “government continuity task force,” to prepare Wyoming for potential disruptions in food and energy to a complete breakdown of the federal government.
Miller is also asking for the task force to look into creating its own state currency in the event the dollar loses value entirely.

The Wyoming House of Representatives advanced the legislation on Monday, but eliminated language calling for plans to implement its own military draft, army and acquire an aircraft carrier.

The bill now must pass two more House votes before it would head to the Senate for consideration.

“I don’t represent people in Illinois or New Jersey. I represent people in Wyoming,” Miller said. “And I want them to be protected from any catastrophic events that may beset the rest of the country.”

ORSON HYDE - FIRST JEWISH ADHERENT AND FAITHFUL SAINT

I have to say I am totally impressed with Orson's life. He spent time with some of the best early leaders in the Church - what an enviable life!:

ORSON HYDE (1805-1878)


This is the modern Apostle who was assigned by direct revelation to dedicate Palestine for the return of the Jews and the other tribes of Israel.
Orson Hyde was born January 8, 1805, in Oxford, Conn. His mother died when he was age 7 and he was therefore raised by Nathan Wheeler until he was 18 years of age.

Striking out on his own, he reached Kirtland, Ohio, where Sidney Rigdon converted him to the Campbellite Church. Orson became a diligent worker and an intense student of the scriptures and was therefore made a "pastor" in 1830. When he first read the Book of Mormon he preached against it, but feeling he had done something terribly wrong, he decided to study it more thoroughly. He was further shaken when he learned his friend, Sidney Rigdon, had become a "Mormon." After an intensive investigation, Orson Hyde was baptized by Sidney Rigdon and confirmed by Joseph Smith in the fall of 1831. During the confirmation Orson Hyde was told that one day he would dedicate the Holy Land for the return of Israel. He was ordained a High Priest in 1831 and immediately started out on several tremendously successful missions, traveling without purse or scrip. His companions on these various missions included such outstanding men as Hyrum Smith, Samuel H. Smith, Parley P. Pratt, and Orson Pratt.

In 1835, Orson was ordained one of the first Apostles in this dispensation. In 1837, he went with the other Apostles to England where they converted and baptized 1,500 people in one year. In 1840, he was sent on his mission to Palestine. His companion abandoned him, but he went on alone and, after much privation and suffering, dedicated that land on October 24, 1841. Upon returning home, he was evicted with his family from Nauvoo, and was asked by the Church leaders to leave his family with friends on the frontier while he went to England to set the Church in order there.

When Orson returned from England he was placed in charge of the way station at Winter Quarters (later Kanesville) and did not move to the mountains himself until 1852. Upon arrival in the mountains, he was instructed to take a company to settle Fort Supply, Wyoming. In 1855 he was given a company to open up Carson Valley, Nevada. Then he was placed in charge of the settlement in San Pete County, Utah. He made his home in Spring City, helped build the Manti Temple, served in the legislative assembly, and died at Spring City on November 28, 1878.

With his mission completed, Orson Hyde made his way slowly back to America and thence to Nauvoo. When Joseph Smith received Orson Hyde's report he was highly pleased. The tiny acorn had been planted for the gathering and growing of a mighty oak of Judah.

In 1845, following the death of Joseph Smith, the Quorum of the Twelve issued a proclamation to all the world.1 After bearing witness of the restoration of the Gospel, the proclamation read:

"And we further testify that the Jews among all nations are hereby commanded, in the name of the Messiah, to prepare to return to Jerusalem in Palestine, and to rebuild that city and temple unto the Lord.

"And also to organize and establish their own political government under their own rulers, judges, and governors, in that country.

"Be it known unto them that we now hold the keys of the Priesthood and kingdom which are soon to be restored unto them. Therefore, let them also repent, and prepare to obey the ordinances of God."

This Apostolic proclamation warned the rulers of nations that they must not "stand as idle and disinterested spectators" but help expedite the work of the Lord in the latter days and thereby reap a great blessing. They were told that they would "either be led by the good spirit to cast in your lot, and to take a lively interest with the Saints of the Most High, and the covenant people of the Lord; or on the other hand, you will become their inveterate enemy, and oppose them of every means in your power."

The proclamation then continued:

"To such an extreme will this great division finally extend, that the nations of the Old World will combine to oppose these things by military force. They will send a great army to Palestine against the Jews, and they will besiege their city, and will reduce the inhabitants of Jerusalem to the greatest extreme of distress and misery.

"Then will commence a struggle in which the fate of nations and empires will be suspended on a single battle.

"In this battle the governors and people of Judah will distinguish themselves for their bravery and warlike achievements. The weak among them will be like David and the strong among them will be like God or like the angel of the Lord.

"In that day the Lord will pour upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of grace and supplication and they shall look upon the Messiah whom they have pierced.

"For lo! he will descend from heaven as the defender of the Jews, and to complete their victory. His feet will stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives, which shall cleave asunder at his presence, and remove one half to the north, and the other to the south, thus forming a great valley where the mountain now stands.

"The earth will quake around him, while storm and tempest, hail and plague, are mingled with the clash of arms, the roar of artillery, the shouts of victory, and the groans of the wounded and dying.

"In that day, all who are in the siege, both against Judea and against Jerusalem, shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth should be gathered together against it.

"This signal victory on the part of the Jews so unlooked for by the nations, and attended with the personal advent of the Messiah and the accompanying events, will change the whole order of things in Europe and Asia, in regard to political and religious organization and government.

"The Jews as a nation become holy from that day forward, and their city and sanctuary become holy. There also the Messiah establishes his throne and seat of government.

"Jerusalem then becomes the seat of empire and the great center and capital of the world."

While all of this is transpiring, the Lord will have directed the building of the New Jerusalem in America. There Ephraim and Manasseh of the Tribe of Joseph will have their inheritance. The world will then be prepared for the Millennial reign with the house of Judah and house of Joseph combining their efforts to spread the Gospel and the government of the Lord to the four corners of the earth. Truly, in that day, "Ephraim shall not envy Judah and Judah shall not vex Ephraim."2

LIVING IN A SLAVE STATE

April 15th is coming and I was just curious about options if the tax burden is too high this year. If I wasn't convinced before, I am convinced now that I am living in a slave state, where at one point when our federal taxes were implemented to support what seemed to be a just war, we were asked that we contribute a meager 1% in order to pay down the war debt. That with a promise that it would never increase. And here we are.....

The Worst Thing You Can Do Is To Do Nothing
What happens if April 15th rolls around and you just can't come up with the money to pay your Federal income tax? There are separate penalties for filing late and paying late, and the "failure to file" penalty is much worse than the "failure to pay" penalty:

(Please note that the interest rates used in these examples vary each quarter). Failure to file on time penalty: 5% of the balance due per month as of the time of this writing

Failure to pay on time penalty: up to 1% of the balance due per month,up to a total of 25% of the balance due

To reduce your penalties and interest, file your income tax return by the due date. You'll still incur interest, but you'll avoid the 5% per month penalty for failure to file on time.

For example, if you don't file your return by the due date, and you owe $2,000, you'll pay a combined failure to file and failure to pay penalty of $120 per month until paid in full, up to a maximum of $500. If you owed $10,000, the penalty would be $600 per month, up to a maximum of $2,500.

If you file on time but don't pay on time, you'll incur a late payment penalty of 1% of the tax owed for each month, or part of a month, that the tax remains unpaid, up to a maximum of 25%.

For example, if you file your return by the due date but don't pay your balance of $2,000, you'll pay a late payment penalty of $20 per month. If your balance due is $10,000, your penalty will be $60 per month. As you can see, your penalties are significantly lower if you file your return on time even if you don't pay the taxes due

The penalty is only part of the problem. In addition to the non-payment or late-payment penalty discussed above, you'll also incur interest on the balance due at the rate of 6% per year (as of January 2006. Rates can change quarterly).

Consider Your Alternatives

Consider the alternatives available to you. If your cash shortage is a temporary one, can you get a pay advance at work? Do you have family members who would be willing to lend you the money? Do you have something of value that you could sell to raise the cash? Can you take a draw on your home equity line of credit?

Use a Credit Card

You can charge your taxes on your credit card (American Express, MasterCard, Visa or Discover Card) by contacting a service provider approved by the IRS. You'll be charged a convenience fee of around 2.5% of the amount you're paying, so if you owe $2,000, the fee will be around $50. If you owe $10,000, the fee will be around $250. Don't forget that you'll incur interest charges if you can't pay your credit card balance off quickly.

Negotiate an Installment Plan

If you simply can't come up with the money to pay the taxes when due, you may be able to negotiate an installment payment plan with the IRS. Complete Form 9465, Installment Agreement Request, and attach it to the front of your income tax return. Include the amount you propose to pay each month and the day of the month you'd like to make your payments. The IRS will notify you if you're approved.

There's a $43 fee for setting up the installment agreement,and you'll incur interest on the balance due.

What If You Just Can't Come Up With the Money Now, or in the Foreseeable Future?

If you owe so much that there's no way you'll ever be able to pay it, the IRS may accept less than the full amount through a program called Offer in Compromise. Complete Form 656, Offer in Compromise, and Form 433A, Collection Information Statement and submit them to the IRS with the $150 application fee.

You'll have to provide a complete personal financial statement including everything you own of value, all the debts you owe, your income, and the amount you're prepared to pay immediately in order to settle your account.

The IRS will evaluate your financial situation and future income potential to determine whether to accept your settlement offer. If the IRS believes it won't be able to collect the full amount, your offer may be accepted. This program is for people in dire financial straits.

Regardless of an installment plan or Offer in Compromise agreement, the IRS will require you to pay all your federal tax liabilities on time for the next five years or until the amount you settled on is paid in full, whichever is longer. If you default on the terms of the Offer in Compromise agreement, all of your back taxes will once again be due in full. The IRS may file a lien on your property to ensure payment, and this will show up on your credit report.

The Bottom Line

This can all be very confusing, but the bottom line is this: even if you can't pay your taxes due, don't compound your problems by failing to file your income tax return. You could end up paying penalties totaling half the amount you owe, before interest is even added on!

THE DEDICATION OF JERUSALEM BY ORSON HYDE

Accept, therefore, O Lord, the tribute of a grateful heart for all past favors, and be pleased to continue Thy kindness and mercy towards a needy worm of the dust.

"O Thou, Who didst covenant with Abraham, Thy friend, and who didst renew that covenant with Isaac, and confirm the same with Jacob with an oath, that Thou wouldst not only give them this land for an everlasting inheritance, but that Thou wouldst also remember their seed forever. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob have long since closed their eyes in death, and made the grave their mansion. Be Thou to them a sun and a shield, their strong tower and hiding place; and in the time of distress or danger be Thou near to deliver. Also the quorum of the Twelve, do Thou be pleased to stand by them for Thou knowest the obstacles which they have to encounter, the temptations to which they are exposed, and the privations which they must suffer. Give us, [the Twelve] therefore, strength according to our day, and help us to bear a faithful testimony of Jesus and His Gospel, to finish with fidelity and honor the work which Thou hast given us to do, and then give us a place in Thy glorious kingdom. And let this blessing rest upon every faithful officer and member in Thy Church. And all the glory and honor will we ascribe unto God and the Lamb forever and ever. Amen."

ANOTHER CONFIRMATION THAT THEY ARE READY TO BUILD THE THIRD TEMPLE IN JERUSALEM

Bumped into a guy at work tonight that knows what the "Black Irish" are. He and I were carved out of the same block of wood. While conversing on some topics we are mutually fascinated about, he told me about the 'hooked X'. I plan on doing some more research on it.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE UNITED ORDER AND SOCIALISM

There are alot of people within the Church that confuse the two lines of thinking - and its a dangerous trend:

President Wilkinson, faculty members, students, brothers and sisters all. First I want to thank that choir. I am not sure it isn't a body of angels-I can't see behind this screen. That was a marvelous rendition. This last song (O My Father) is my favorite hymn.
I have been asked to talk this morning about socialism and the United Order. I assure you that I approach this discussion with a great deal of trepidation.

Socialism Defined
Perhaps an appropriate first step in comparing socialism and the United Order would be to define the terms. Webster defines socialism as: A political and economic theory of social organization based on collective or governmental ownership and democratic management of the essential means for the production and distribution of goods; also, a policy or practice based on this theory. (Webster's New International Dictionary, 2nd Ed., unabridged, 1951.) George Bernard Shaw, the noted Fabian Socialist, says that: Socialism, reduced to its simplest legal and practical expression, means the complete discarding of the institution of private property by transforming it into public property and the division of the resultant income equally and indiscriminately among the entire population. (Encyclopedia Britannica, 1943 Ed., p.295.)

George Douglas Howard Cole, M.A., noted author and university reader in economics at Oxford, who treats socialism for the Encyclopedia Britannica, says that because of the shifting sense in which the word has been used, . . . a short and comprehensive definition is . . . impossible. We can only say [he concludes] that Socialism is essentially a doctrine and a movement aiming at the collective organization of the community in the interest of the mass of the people by means of the common ownership and collective control of the means of production and exchange. (The quotations on pages 2, 3, and 4, unless otherwise indicated, are from George Douglas Howard Cole, M.A., and are found in the Encyclopedia Britannica, Vol. 20.)

Socialism arose "out of the economic division in society." During the nineteenth century its growth was accelerated as a protest against "the appalling conditions prevailing in the workshops and factories and the unchristian spirit of the spreading industrial system." The "communist manifesto" drafted by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, for the Communist League . . . in . . . 1848 is generally regarded as the starting point of modern socialism. (Ibid.)

Distinction Between Socialism and Communism
The distinction between Socialism, as represented by the various Socialist and Labour Parties of Europe and the new world, and Communism, as represented by the Russians, is one of tactics and strategy rather than of objective.

Communism is indeed only Socialism pursued by revolutionary means and making its revolutionary method a canon of faith. Communists, like other Socialists, (1) believe in the collective control and ownership of the vital means of production, and (2) seek to achieve, through state action the co-ordinated control of the economic forces of society. They differ from other Socialists in believing that this control can be secured, and its use in the interests of the workers ensured, only by revolutionary action leading to the dictatorship of the proletariat and the creation of a new proletarian state as the instrument of change. (Ibid.)

Major Forms of Socialism
A major rift between so-called orthodox socialism and communist socialism occurred in 1875 when the German Social Democratic Party set forth its objective of winning power by taking over control of the bourgeois state, rather than by overthrowing it. In effect, the German Social Democratic Party became a parliamentary party, aiming at the assumption of political power by constitutional means. In the 1880's a small group of intellectuals set up in England the Fabian Society, which has had a major influence on the development of modern orthodox socialism.

Fabianism stands "for the evolutionary conception of socialism . . . endeavoring by progressive reforms and the nationalization of industries, to turn the existing state into a 'welfare state.'" Somewhat on the order of the German Social Democrats, Fabians aim "at permeating the existing parties with socialistic ideas [rather] than at creating a definitely socialistic party." They appeal "to the electorate not as revolutionaries, but as constitutional reformers seeking a peaceful transformation of the system."

The differences in forms and policies of socialism occur principally in the manner in which they seek to implement their theories. They all advocate: (1) That private ownership of the vital means of production be abolished and that all such property "pass under some form of co-ordinated public control." (2) That the power of the state be used to achieve their aims. (3) "That with a change in the control of industry will go a change in the motives which operate in the industrial system . . ." So much now for the definition of socialism.

The United Order Defined
The United Order, the Lord's program for eliminating the inequalities among men, is based upon the underlying concept that the earth and all things therein belong to the Lord, and that men hold earthly Possessions as stewards accountable to God.

On January 2, 1831, the Lord revealed to the Prophet Joseph Smith that the Church was under obligation to care for the poor. (See D&C 38.) Later He said, I, the Lord, stretched out the heavens, and built the earth, . . . and all things therein are mine. And it is my purpose to provide for my saints, for all things are mine. But it must needs be done in mine own way. (D&C 104:14-16.)

The Lord ' s Way
On February 9, 1831, the Lord revealed to the Prophet what His way was. (See D&C 42.) In His way there were two cardinal principles: (1) consecration, and (2) stewardship. To enter the United Order one consecrated all his possessions to the Church by a "covenant and deed which" could "not be broken." That is, he completely divested himself of all of his property by conveying it to the Church. Having thus voluntarily divested himself of title to all his property, the consecrator received from the Church a stewardship by a like conveyance. This stewardship could be more or less than his original consecration the object being to make "every man equal according to his family, according to his circumstances and his wants and needs." (D&C 51:3.)

Right to Private Ownership Preserved
This procedure preserved in every man the right to private ownership and management of his property. At his own option he could alienate it or keep and operate it and pass it on to his heirs. The intent was, however, for him to so operate his property as to produce a living for himself and his dependents. So long as he remained in the Order he consecrated to the Church the surplus he produced above the needs and wants of his family. This surplus went into a storehouse, from which stewardships were given to others, and from which the needs of the poor were supplied.

The United Order and Socialism Compared
These divine principles are very simple and easily understood. A comparison of them with the underlying hallmarks of socialism reveal similarities and basic differences. The following are similarities: Both (1) deal with production and distribution of goods; (2) aim to promote the well-being of men by eliminating their economic inequalities; (3) envision the elimination of the selfish motives in our private capitalistic industrial system.

Now the differences: (1) The cornerstone of the United Order is belief in God and acceptance of Him as Lord of the earth and the author of the United Order. Socialism, wholly materialistic, is founded in the wisdom of men, and not of God. Although all socialists may not be atheists, none of them in theory or practice seek the Lord to establish His righteousness. (2) The United Order is implemented by the voluntary free-will actions of men, evidenced by a consecration of all their property to the Church of God. Socialism is implemented by external force, the power of the state. (3) As to property, in harmony with Church belief, as set forth in the D&C, "that no government can exist in peace, except such laws are framed and held inviolate as will secure to each individual the free exercise of conscience, the right and control of property" (D&C 134:2), the United Order is operated upon the principle of private ownership and individual management. Socialism is operated on the principle of collective or governmental ownership and management. Thus in both implementation and ownership and management of property, the United Order preserves to men their God-given agency, while socialism deprives them of it. (4) The United Order is non-political. Socialism is political, both in theory and in practice. It is thus exposed to, and fiddled by, the corruption which plagues and finally destroys all political governments which undertake to abridge man's agency. (5) A righteous people is a prerequisite to the United Order. Socialism argues that it as a system will eliminate the evils of the profit motive.

Socialism Is Not the United Order
The United Order exalts the poor and humbles the rich. In the process both are sanctified. The poor, released from the bondage and humiliating limitations of poverty, are enabled as free men to rise to their full potential, both temporally and spiritually. The rich, by consecration and by imparting of their surplus for the benefit of the poor, not by constraint, but willingly as an act of free will, evidence that charity for their fellow men characterized by Mormon as "the pure love of Christ." (Moro. 7:47.)

No, students, socialism is not the United Order. Distinguishing between these two systems need be no more difficult than solving the problem of the farmer who couldn't tell one of his horses from the other. They weighed the same, pulled the same load, ran at the same speed; from the looks of their teeth they were the same age. Finally, as a last resort, he measured them, and, sure enough, the white horse was six hands higher than the black one.
Socialism Wave of the Present and Future
Notwithstanding my abhorrence of it, I am persuaded that socialism is the wave of the present and of the foreseeable future. It has already taken over or is contending for control in most nations. At the end of the year [1965] parties affiliated with the [Socialist] International were in control of the governments of Great Britain, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Israel, and the Malagasy Republic. They had representatives in coalition cabinets in Austria, Belgium, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, and Switzerland; constituted the chief opposition in France, India, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand and West Germany; and were significant political forces in numerous other countries. Many parties dominant in governments in Africa, Asia, and Latin America announced that their aim was a socialist society. (Encyclopedia Britannica, 1965 Book of the Year, pp. 736.)

The United States Converting to Social Welfare State
We here in the United States, in converting our government into a social welfare state, have ourselves adopted much of socialism. Specifically, we have to an alarming degree adopted the use of the power of the state in the control and distribution of the fruits of industry. We are on notice, according to the words of the President, that we are going much farther, for he is quoted as saying: We're going to take all the money we think is unnecessarily being spent and take it from the "haves" and give it to the "have nots." (Congressional Record, 1964, p. 6142-White House Speech, March 24, 1964.) That is the spirit of socialism: "We're going to take." It isn't the spirit of "We're going to give."

American Free Agency Abridged
We have also gone a long way on the road to public ownership and management of the vital means of production. In both of these areas the free agency of Americans has been greatly abridged. Some argue that we have voluntarily surrendered this power to government. Be this as it may, the fact remains that the loss of freedom with the consent of the enslaved, or even at their request, is nonetheless slavery.

As to the fruits of socialism, we all have our own opinions. I myself have watched its growth in our own country and observed it in operation in many other lands. But I have yet to see or hear of its freeing the hearts of men of selfishness and greed or of its bringing peace, plenty or freedom. These things it will never bring, nor will it do away with idleness and promote "industry, thrift and self-respect," for it is founded, in theory and in practice, on the principles of the evil one.

The Fruits of the United Order
As to the fruits of the United Order, I suggest you read Moses 7:16-18 and Four - 1 Ne. 2, 3, 15, 16. If we had time we could review the history, what little we know, of Zion in the days of Enoch and about what happened among the Nephites under those principles of the United Order in the first two centuries following the time of the Savior.

What We Can Do About It
Now what can we do about it? As I recently reminded my wife of the moratorium on the United Order, that socialism is taking over in the nations, and that its expressed aims will surely fail, she spiritedly put to me the question: "Well, then, what would you suggest, that we just sit on our hands in despair and do nothing?" Perhaps similar questions have occurred to you. The answer is, "No, by no means!" We have much to do, and the Lord has definitely prescribed the course we should follow, with respect to socialism and the United Order.

The Lord's Prescribed Course He has told us that in preparation for the restoration of the gospel, He himself established the Constitution of the United States that there might be a government which "according to just and holy principles" would preserve to men their God-given agency. This He did because the whole Gospel of Jesus Christ presupposes man's untrammeled exercise of free agency. Man is in the earth to be tested. The issue as to whether he succeeds or fails will be determined by how he uses this agency. His whole future, through all eternity, is at stake. Abridge man's agency and the whole purpose of his mortality is thwarted. Without it, the Lord says, there is no existence. (See D&C 93:30.)

This He explained in the revelation in which He instructed the Prophet Joseph Smith to appeal for help: According to the laws and constitution of the people, which I have suffered to be established, and should be maintained for the rights and protection of all flesh, according to just and holy principles; That every man may act in doctrine and principle pertaining to futurity, according to the moral agency which I have given unto him, that every man may be accountable for his own sins in the day of judgment And for this purpose have I established the Constitution of this land, by the hands of wise men whom I raised up unto this very purpose (D&C 101:77-78, 80.)
Previously He had said: And now, verily I say unto you concerning the laws of the land, it is my will that my people should observe to do all things whatsoever I command them. And that law of the land which is constitutional, supporting that principle of freedom in maintaining rights and privileges, belongs to all mankind, and is justifiable before me. Therefore, I, the Lord, justify you, and your brethren of my church, in befriending that law which is the constitutional law of the land; And as pertaining to law of man, whatsoever is more or less than this, cometh of evil. I, the Lord God, make you free, therefore ye are free indeed; and the law [that is, constitutional law] also maketh you free. Nevertheless, when the wicked rule the people mourn. Wherefore, honest men and wise men should be sought for diligently, and good men and wise men ye should observe to uphold; otherwise whatsoever is less than these cometh of evil. (D&C 98:4-10.)

The Constitution a Divine Document
These scriptures reveal the fact that the Constitution is a divine document. They tell us that "according to just and holy principles" "the constitution" and "the law of the land which supports the principle of freedom in maintaining rights and privileges, belongs to all mankind, and is justifiable before" God; that, "as pertaining to the law of man, whatsoever is more or less than this, cometh of evil." They remind us that the Lord has made us free, and that laws which are constitutional will also make us free.

A Warning
Right at this point, almost as if He were warning us against what is happening today, the Lord said: "Nevertheless, when the wicked rule the people mourn." Then, that we might know with certainty what we should do about it, He concluded: "Wherefore, honest men and wise men should be sought for diligently, and good men and wise men ye should observe to uphold."

Seek to Support Wise Men in Government
In its context this instruction can only mean that we should seek diligently for and support men to represent us in government who are "wise" enough to understand freedom-as provided for in the Constitution and as is implemented in the United Order-and who are honest enough and good enough to fight to preserve it. ."Under no other government in the world could the church have been established," said President J. Reuben Clark, Jr., and he continued: . . . If we are to live as a church, and progress, and have the right to worship as we are worshipping here today, we must have the great guarantees that are set up by our constitution. There is no other way in which we can secure these guarantees. (Conference Report, October 1942, p.59.)

What We Should Do About the United Order
Now, not forgetting our duty to eschew socialism and support the just and holy principles of the Constitution, as directed by the Lord, I shall conclude these remarks with a few comments concerning what we should do about the United Order. The final words of the Lord in suspending the Order were: And let those commandments which I have given concerning Zion and her law be executed and fulfilled, after her redemption. (D&C 105:34.) Further implementation of the Order must therefore await the redemption of Zion.

Here Zion means Jackson County, Missouri. When Zion is redeemed, as it most certainly shall be, it will be redeemed under a government, and by a people, strictly observing those "just and holy principles" of the Constitution which accord to men their God-given moral agency, including the right to private property. If, in the meantime, socialism takes over in America, it will have to be displaced, if need be, by the power of God, because the United Order can never function under socialism or "the welfare state," for the good and sufficient reason that the principles upon which socialism and the United Order are conceived and operated are inimical.

WE MUST SUFFER IN ORDER TO BECOME A ZION PEOPLE

I may be a hopeless romantic - too idealistic to function in today's fallen world - or I am a realist.

God WILL have a Zion people that will be caught up into the heavens to meet Him when he comes in glory. In my opinion, this people has gone "a whorin' after Babylon" just a little too much and is filled with pride to the point that the mighty gulf between where we are now as a people, and where we need to be as a people is just too much to deal with unless there is a radical intervention.

WHAT IS THE RELIGION OF THE ANTI-CHRIST?

When thinking on the subject of what faith the anti-christ will try and push down everyones' throats, I was stumped up until I went on my mission down to Brazil and ran into the "unconvertables". These people were very smart, extremely nice and extremely resistant to conversion. Why were they? Because their religion "borged" every doctrinal set that I am aware of. It didn't matter whether you were Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, or animist, you were automatically accepted into their fold and invited to join - regardless of clashing doctrines. I have read their founding teachings and the Spirit does not witness to them in any way - and I say that matter-of-factly, not to belittle them. If you cannot exploit what makes your religion different than another religion, you have no basis for attempting to convert that person to your line of thinking. At the very least, you have to have some common ground to start with - thus the difficulty in talking religion with someone who is Buddhist, there is no basis for a need for an atonement because there is no (clearly defined) sin and the Hindus are difficult to teach because if you get it wrong, you will just come back as a different form until you get it right (no need for the resurrection, either....). I personally hung with the Jews and the rest of the Christians - no matter how hard the punishment, because I just simply could not rationalize with someone who did not even begin to see the need for a Savior to begin with.

However, when you tangle with someone of the Bahai faith (and to a lesser degree, an adherent to the Muslim faith), no matter what you say its all good because Jesus was a nice teacher and so was Joseph Smith, so: LETS ALL JUST SING KOOMBIAH AND PASS THE BREAD AND CHEESE.... With Mormonism, you have a clear shot at attempting to convert everyone because, out of the blocks, everyone else is in some form of apostasy and needs the cleansing waters of baptism. The Bahai's, no. Its the doctrinal equivalent of trying to catch the greased pig at the county fair - you just will never get your hands on it.

So, with the proliferation of the new ager movement (which makes me ill with all the feel-good BS), the PERFECT religion to bring all peoples of the earth together in the false feel-good millennial d'evil duplicate, I vote for either Bahai or Islam to do the trick. I have been carefully scrutinizing how those two groups work and I think either one would be the religion of choice by someone (in the Herodian motif - who was Persian, not a Roman, BTW) who wanted to even appease the Jews and cruise on into the third temple and declare himself "da man". However it goes down, it will have to be some slickster that would put the best polyester-suited used car salesman to shame in order to pull it off - without just having to lob a few billion heads off in order to bring it down. Right now we have the leader of Iran vying for the title as the twelfth mahdi who will unify Islam and then lob heads of other non-compliants until world "conversion" has been achieved. I vote against that because I like my neck as a one-piece unit, thank you very much.....

We got rid of Saddam Hussein who fancied himself to be the one (true story - thought he was the modern Nebuchadnezzar). And then we have this Bahai fellow is out pounding the pavement to make it happen for his group. COMFREY AS A NON-ANIMAL SOURCE FOR VITAMIN B-12?

Got this tip today from an herbalist. I thought I knew volumes about B-12 after much study since it had such a profound effect on my wife's health (Click on the B12 label at the end of the post for more back-ground on that wild ride). Apparently not....

B-12 is a very difficult thing to get into our body due to its complex nature - as a metal-based amino acid. Cobalt is pretty rare and the manufacture of the amino acid requires synthesis (typically in the gut) of a living organism such as a cow or sea creature. We have a difficult enough time getting it out of the food we eat and apparently cannot synthesize it ourselves in our own guts. Apparently, we do not have the right set-up. However, bacteria in the soil can do that, and the comfrey plant can exploit that with its extensive root system. I also note that it loves cow manure (which probably contains B-12 from its manufacturer which is one of the best sources for B-12 when its red meat is consumed).

I remember reading as a kid, that the early pioneer women used the plant to make tea that would calm nerves, etc - which is what a B-12 injection does. It was noted for fixing "womens' complaints" back in the day - whatever that entailed.....?
I am still trying to figure out how to fix those - and after nearly 20 years of marriage, I am happy to report, I am still a complete failure....LOL

But I digress, I am fascinated with what this plant can do and I would like to plant quite a bit of it in a "well watered" spot of our paradise to have on hand in difficult times.

Here is some more info on it:

Cultivation

The comfrey bed should be well prepared by weeding thoroughly, and dressing with manure if available. Offsets should be planted 2-3 feet apart with the growing points just below the surface, whilst root segments should be buried about 2" deep. Keep the bed well watered until the young plants are established. Comfrey should not be harvested in it’s first season as it needs to become established. Any flowering stems should be removed as these will weaken the plants in it’s first year. Comfrey should also be regularly watered until well established. Comfrey is a fast growing plant, producing huge amounts of leaf during the growing season, hence is very nitrogen hungry. Although it will continue to grow no matter what, it will benefit from the addition of animal manure applied as a mulch, and can also be mulched with other nitrogen rich materials such as lawn mowings, and is one of the few plants that will tolerate the application of fresh urine diluted 50:50 with water, although this should not be regularly added as it may increase salt levels in the soil and have adverse effects on soil life such as worms. Mature comfrey plants can be harvested up to four or five times a year. They are ready for cutting when about 2ft high, and, depending on seasonal conditions, this is usually in April. Comfrey will rapidly regrow, and will be ready for further cutting about 5 weeks later. It is said that the best time to cut comfrey is shortly before flowering, for this is when it is at it’s most potent in terms of the nutrients that it offers. Comfrey can continue growing into November, but it is not advisable to continue taking cuttings after September in order to allow the plants to build up winter reserves. As the leaves die back and break down in winter, nutrients and minerals are transported back to the roots for use the following spring. Comfrey should be harvested by using shears or a sickle to cut the plant about 2" above the ground, taking care handling it because the leaves and stems are covered in hairs that can irritate the skin. It is advisable to wear gloves when handling comfrey. Despite being sterile, Bocking 14 Russian Comfrey will steadily increase in size. It is therefore advisable to split it up every few years (and at the same time propagate more plants that can be shared with fellow gardeners!). It is however difficult to remove comfrey once established as it is very deep rooting, and any fragments left in the soli will regrow. rotovation can be successful, but may take several seasons. The best way to eradicate comfrey is to very carefully dig it out, removing as much of the root as possible. This is best done in hot, dry summer weather, wherin the dry conditions will help to kill off any remaining root stumps. Comfrey is generally trouble free once established, although weaker or stressed plants can suffer from comfrey rust or mildew. Both are fungal diseases, although they rarely seriously reduce plant growth and thus do not generally require control. However infected plants should not be used for propagation purposes.


Medicinal Uses

Rosemary Morrow writes that "Russian comfrey and garlic could together, according to natural health usage, cure almost half the present ills of western civilisation" (The Book Of Herbs, Pan 1976). An extravagant claim perhaps, but it does indeed have a wealth of medicinal uses. One of it’s country names was ‘knitbone’, a reminder of it’s traditional use in healing. The herb contains allantoin, a cell proliferant that speeds up the natural replacement of body cells. This means that it will promote the swift healing of damaged or injured tissues, as well as maintaining cell growth and preventing diseases. Comfrey has been used to treat a wide variety of ailments ranging from bronchial problems, broken bones, sprains, arthritis, gastric and varicose ulcers, severe burns, acne and other skin conditions. It is also said to have bone and teeth building properties in children, and have value in treating "many female disorders". In past times comfrey baths were popular to repair the hymen and thus ‘restore virginity’. Constituents of comfrey also include mucilage, steroidal saponins, tannins, pyrrolizidine alkoloids, inulin, vitamin B12 and proteins.

Excessive internal usage of comfrey should be avoided because of pyrrolidizine alkaloids, which have been linked by some research to cancer in rats. Avoid using comfrey on dirty or deep wounds, as the rapid healing properties of the allantoins may trap dirt or pus, leading to the formation of absesses.


Fertiliser Uses

Comfrey is a particularly valuable source of fertility to the organic gardener. It is very deep rooted and acts as a dynamic accumulator, mining a host of nutrients from the soil. These are then made available through it’s fast growing leaves (up to 4-5lb per plant per cut) which, lacking fibre, quickly break down to a thick black liquid. There is also no risk of nitrogen robbery when comfrey is dug into the soil as the C:N ratio of the leaves is lower than that of well-rotted compost. Comfrey is an excellent source of potassium, an essential plant nutrient needed for flower, seeds and fruit production. It’s leaves contain 2-3 times more potassium than farmyard manure, mined from deep in the subsoil, tapping into reserves that would not normally be available to plants.

There are various ways in which comfrey can be utilised as a fertiliser, these include:

* Comfrey for potatoes- freshly cut comfrey should be wilted for a day or two, then laid in potato trenches about 2" deep. Avoid using flowering stems as these can root. The leaves will rapidly break down and supply potassium rich fertiliser for the developing potato plants.
* Comfrey as a compost activator- include 2-3" deep layers of comfrey in the compost heap to encourage bacterial activity and help to heat the heap. Comfrey should not be added in quantity as it will quickly break down into a dark sludgey liquid that needs to be balanced with more fibrous, carbon rich material.
* Comfrey liquid fertiliser- can be produced by either rotting leaves down in rainwater for 4-5 weeks to produce a ready to use ‘comfrey tea’, or by stacking dry leaves under a weight in a container with a hole in the base. When the leaves decompose a thick black comfrey concentrate is collected. This must be diluted @ 15:1 before use.
* Comfrey as a mulch- a 2" layer of comfrey leaves placed around a crop will slowly break down and release plant nutrients. it is especially useful for crops that need extra potassium, such as tomatoes, and also fruit bushes like gooseberries and currants.
* Comfrey potting mixture- originally devised using peat, environmental awareness has lead to a leaf-mould based alternative being adopted instead. Two year old, well decayed leaf mould should be used, this will absorb the nutrient rich liquid released by the decaying comfrey.
* In a black plastic sack alternate 3-4" layers of leaf mould and chopped comfrey leaves. Add a little dolomitic limestone to slightly raise pH. Leave for between 2-5 months depending on the season, checking that it does not dry out or become too wet. the mixture is ready when the comfrey leaves have rotted and are no longer visible. Use as a general potting compost, although it is too strong for seedlings.

Allantoin, found in milk of nursing mothers and the fetal allantois, appeared to affect the rate of cell multiplication. Wounds and burns seemed to heal faster when allantoin was applied due to a possible increase in number of white blood cells. Comfrey has been reported to promote healthy skin with its mucilage content that moisturizes and soothes, while the allantoin promotes cell proliferation.

The allantoin applied to external wounds is either a 0.4% solution or a 2% ointment. An effective allantoin formulation is difficult to prepare from comfrey due to the low and variable content of this substance. Hart (1976) reported that dried comfrey leaves contain 0.1 to 1.6% allantoin while dried roots have 0.4 to 1.5%. Since fresh leaves are 85% water, they could not contain more than 0.2% allantoin. It would require anywhere from 8 oz to 8 lb of dried comfrey leaves per quart of water to produce a 0.4% solution that would be effective. Comfrey produces large amounts of foliage from late May until hard frosts in October or November. This crop has been used as a salad green and potherb because it was considered a good source of protein and a rare plant-derived source of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is produced usually by soil bacteria and fungi or in the small intestines of some animals.

The following is from the Chemist and Druggist of August 13, 1921:

'Allantoin is a fresh instance of the good judgment of our rustics, especially of old times, with regard to the virtues of plants. The great Comfrey or consound, though it was official with us down to the middle of the eighteenth century, never had a very prominent place in professional practice; but our herbalists were loud in its praise and the country culler of simples held it almost infallible as a remedy for both external and internal wounds bruises, and ulcers, for phlegm, for spitting of blood, ruptures, haemorrhoids, etc. For ulcers of the stomach and liver especially, the root (the part used) was regarded as of sovereign virtue. It is precisely for such complaints as these that Allantoin, obtained from the rhizome of the plant, is now prescribed. One old Syrupus de Symphyto was a rather complicated preparation. Gerard has a better formula, also a compound, which he highly recommends for ulcers of the lungs. The old Edinburgh formula is the simplest and probably the best: Fresh Comfrey leaves and fresh plantain leaves, of each lb.ss.; bruise them and well squeeze out the juice, add to the dregs spring water lb.ij.; boil to half, and mix the strained liquor with the expressed juice; add an equal quantity of white sugar and boil to a syrup.'

Comfrey roots, together with Chichory and Dandelion roots, are used to make a well-known vegetation 'Coffee,' that tastes practically the same as ordinary coffee, with none of its injurious effects.

Parents Need To Be Informed About Vaccine Content

Recently, I was disturbed to read a report, written by Rene Leiva, MD, entitled, “A Brief History of Human Diploid Cell Strains”. The report was copywrited in 2006 by the The National Catholic Bioethics Center; and appeared in the journal, The National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly, autumn, 2006.

The paper is a seven-page-report that documents how for 35-plus years now, aborted, human fetal tissue has been an integral component in many of our current day vaccines.

In fact an examination of the CDC’s own website, under the vaccine ingredient section, discloses Human Diploid Cells (aborted human fetal tissue) as an ingredient…along with a host of substances known to be highly toxic to the human body, such as formaldehyde, formalin, ammonium, aluminum…and many others.

Recently, I was also disturbed to read a report, written by a very well known, respected investigative journalist…who also happens to have a law degree (“Vaccinations: Deadly Immunity”, by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. …very carefully sourced…and published in both Rolling Stone and Salon). The report cited transcripts obtained through the Freedom of Information Act – about a secret meeting that took place in June of 2000, at an isolated location; a retreat center called the Simpsonwood Conference Center, in Norcross Georgia. The meeting was convened by government officials of the CDC (Center For Disease Control); and included representatives of every major manufacturer, within the multi-billion-dollar vaccine industry.

Those transcripts of the meeting, obtained through the Freedom of Information Act reveal something very disturbing: The topic of discussion was about how they knew the vaccines were harming millions of children…and steps they should take to keep that information from the public.

Sadly, it seems to me – information disclosed to the public about vaccinations is more often than not, information that has been carefully screened and sculpted by those who stand to profit, often to the tune of billions of dollars – by perpetuating certain public beliefs.

It is my belief that parents and grandparents should exercise their right to inform themselves through sources independent from those that stand to profit by their choices – so that they might truly make informed decisions.

THE GATHERING OUT - DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

In times past, I have always wondered about when - and even if - something would occur along these lines. Would it become so unbearable to live among the ungodly, that, out of necessity, righteous Saints would have to flee Babylon in order to live their religion fully?

I keep bumping into people who have elected (even in the face of hardship) to make the jump out of Babylon and who are working on the "old arts" - the things that allowed society to function without all the multiple layers of complexity that we have today. The things that kept people grounded - things like natural medicine, canning, sewing (by hand), animal husbandry, gardening, keeping an orchard, hunting, fixing all things mechanical, woodworking, midwifery, knitting and too many other things to mention.

Somebody in our new abode read the blog, tracked my wife down and, as it turns out, is like-minded and a lover of what is good and right. If you are living your life properly, you WILL be attracted to those things. You will feel a need for them in their proper place in your life and will focus on them. Why, you ask? Because they will keep you alive when times are tough - and it is survival of the spiritual fittest, not of the physical fittest. If you are lulled to sleep by the intoxicating hum and excitement of babylon, you will consider all of these arts non-sense. In fact, you will begin to fight against those who are humbly trying to follow what the Spirit of the Lord is directing them to do. The results of that is: "....And thus the Church began to fail in its progress. (Alma 4:10)"

So, there is a sub-culture within the Church of people who are feeling a little out of the box - and I say - who are actually spot on. They are doing exactly as they have been asked by our leadership since Joseph Smith; and more importantly, have been following the Spirit completely without babylon-clouded thinking. I strongly feel the leadership is at a loss as to what to do, as you can only dumb things down so much before there ain't no more dumbing down to be done.... At those points, its just a matter of time before the hammer falls.

I am grateful for my wife who is valiant enough to be a leader in our family to point out and expose corruption where it is and deal with it the best she can. It truly gives me hope for our future.
