GREAT fireside last night. Probably the best I have ever been to. Very informative and lots of great background on the House of Israel and our role in the gathering.
It was basically a follow-up of the Youth Fireside from a week ago and we learned more about how it went with the visit to Israel.
President Nelson mentioned that we will have a "glorious future". That word "glory" keeps coming up. I think they know something that we do not generally know about..... Kind of like when you are keeping a secret and people can tell there is something different about you - an energy or excitement and you are not letting on with all the details - but you would tell if they could.
That is what I sensed last night.
President Nelson's wife is delightful and shared much of what it was like to be at his side as he has had increase in heavenly communications. It would be a similar experience to what Emma Smith experienced. You would be able to discern the obvious changes in a person's language, demeanor and general comportment. She was married to him for 13 years prior to him receiving the mantle - and so she knows and said that her testimony of his calling would hold up in any court of law, if she were asked to give it. One day, she may just have to do so.
This weekend was also notable in that the local chapter of the rainbow people showed up and had a parade in Cardston. I was unaware of it until we went to a function later in the afternoon with our favorite preparedness people and we got the scoop.
All I know is that my daughter and I got pelted on our job site with a deluge for 20 mins. I was asking why we had to have that particular rain at that particular time (could it not be saved for the middle of the night?). I had to repent when I found out it also rained on their parade as they made their way through downtown, soaked boas and all. Could that not be construed as harassment as there are few to no packers in our town?? Even the local meat packing plant across from the cement plant shut down years ago from the looks of it, and you cannot get a locally-made sausage stuffed here any more.... It really is tantamount to the KKK doing a rally in the middle of a Baltimore or Chicago suburb.... NOT EXACTLY welcome..... and you may want to consider the audience..... or how stupid you look.
REALLY, please just leave us alone to do our thing - and we promise we will just leave you alone to do your thing including your secret acts in the dark - while still holding our ground on our value set. COVFEFE....
So yeah..... Knowing what I found out, a nice dousing with 1/2" diameter drops of rain was worth knowing that a "boy george's" mascara ran and got on the boa, whose purple was bleeding into the pink just below it.....
And to add insult to injury, the whole gay mafia - smarting from not being able to force a Christian couple with a conscience from decorating a rainbow cake for them - is now lashing out at Chic-fila and the twitter dude (who caved). I happened to enjoy them ALOT while I was down in TX. Come to think of it, I might never have gone there if it had NOT been for the mafiaggeri trying to take them down. I even took pleasure in seeing that I had to sit in a line for 20 mins with the drive-thru line circling around the building twice and into the adjacent parking lot, in order to eat my cross-cut fries....:

Wasn't that fireside awesome! I felt like I could have listened to him speak for hours. How many languages does he speak? ..and it was great to know that he was right here in southern Alberta, just down the road a ways..
ReplyDeleteI didn't hear the one from last Sunday, but the previous one where Sister Nelson identified the 12 Tribes was very interesting. It seemed that they were directing the youth to help gather Israel by focusing on Temple work and Family History research.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that seemed odd though was that President Nelson never mentioned preparing for a mission.
I don't know that I've ever heard an address from the Prophet where young men ages 12 to 18 were present that didn't include some encouragement to prepare for a mission. Maybe I've just not noticed it before, does it seem unusual to anyone else?
I think he has eight languages. He learned Spanish more recently in his 80s. Was it a specific regional fireside for CAN or was it global? Here in MEX we had crickets...
