So president Nelson's coronation (sustaining) happened on the beginning of the counting of the Omer of Barley which happens for 49 days. This observance was given to the Israelites when they left Egypt, with a promise that on the 50th day they would be given the law. (They got the law in Sini but blew it and go the lower law)
Were we just put on notice? It will be very interesting what else is going to happen 50 days from now. Clearly we are leaving the Aaronic priesthood era, the day of the gentiles, and the wheat harvest. 50 days from now is Shavuot, the day of the wheat offering. Me thinks we are entering the millennial era, being prepared for terrestrial priesthood responsibilities, and the cleansing of the earth to prepare it for the King. The church follows a pattern. From Joseph Smith to Brigham Young we have the barley harvest. Barley is the first fruit. Weak, susceptible to damage, just like the early church. With Brigham Young we entered the wheat harvest. This is the majority of the growing season for the church. It lasts a long time, even into the grape harvest. The wheat and the tares grow together. The majority of the growth of the church happened during this time. So did the secret combinations.
When president Monson changed the missionary age, we entered the hastening oft he work phase. This is where the wheat is laid up in store and the workers wait for the Lord of the vineyard to tell them it is time to harvest the grapes. This was called the hastened harvest because it had to happen fast or the grapes would turn. When the hastened grape harvest began to wind down, the wheat would be offered in the temple, the wine would be stored, and the olive harvest would begin. The olive harvest was characterized by the SHAKING of the trees to get the olives out. This is the part where the Lord preaches his own sermons, shakes the earth and puts the olives (his people) through the olive press to purify them. Then he returns.
In my humble opinion, President Nelson and others just put us on notice that the new law is about to be given, that the wheat and grape harvests are just about over, and the olive harvest is about to begin.
All I can say is hold on tight.
The 9th of Av this year could be a rough ride.
We had two brothers who were called outside the normal "Ephraimitic" group. I feel that the brother of Chinese descent can help us when we have to deal with the "heathen Chinese from beyond the mountains where we were driven" (that come off the West Coast). We are indeed moving into the cessation of the "times of the Gentiles" that I have long awaited. President Nelson will take us to the gates of this disaster - a Priesthood that is ready to use their power in that Priesthood to rise up and neutralize those who seek power in satan's kingdom. This thing is coming to a head, folks! It gonna pop and the Saints will come out on top when they are forced to call upon the boys from the mountains to solve the problems! But the ride will indeed be a rough one!
As Bishop Koyle used to say, the wild colt will be brought up against the snubbin' post until it learns who it's master is.
We were taught to use PERSONAL REVELATION to get through our trials. To NOT be afraid to use the power we have been given - and the whole feast was topped off with an Apostolic Blessing from our Prophet. Truly the best Conference that I can remember since President Benson's talk on Pride that hit me so deeply back in the 1980's. An amazing feast - and I shared with the best people on the face of this earth that I have run into. What a joy!
I too feel that great things are about to happen. I plan on spending much time in the Temple getting ready for it, just as I did before we lost our Dallin. The more we are pointed in that direction, the better prepared we will be for great things (whether we choose to see them as great, or not....). It is our choice - and our privilege; or our personal tragedy. It all comes down to perspective and levels of wisdom, which is the proper application of knowledge and learning.
The comment was made more than once and by several speakers that these changes would provide a "holier" way to do the work, and also the phrasing that these changes would prepare us for the coming of Jesus Christ.
ReplyDeleteThis was such a great article and I so loved it. Thanks for sharing this with us.
ReplyDeleteisn't it interesting also that President Nelson is fluent in mandarin Chinese? Because of all of his heart surgeon work in China, it would be good to learn their language....
