Some couples cannot handle the day to day grind of life and feel the need to inject excitement into their routine. During the catch portion of the relationship, there was alot of excitement as the game of cat and mouse was played. But just as with the playful cat, what do you do with the mouse once you have finally caught it? I have seen ours release the somewhat injured mouse and try to get it to run away so that there would be that thrill of having to catch it again.
Apparently, we humans (natural man) are not a whole lot different in our desire to keep it fresh and exciting. In our world where everything has to be bigger and better and more tantalizing and over the top than the last thing, we are approaching a point of no return and it is part of what causes man to move forward in debauchery until they are past feeling and have committed the unpardonable sin that Cain and others arrived at in their lives. This tendency is hard-wired into the males, most of all. I often tell my wife when I am displaying aspects of my maleness in the "wanderlust" as I call it (I am talking about stuff like getting a new car or making my family situation better - not other stuff), that if it were not for that trait in males, she would still be sitting in a way over-populated England staring off into the Atlantic and wondering if there might be something out there for her impoverished and over-crowded kids to have. Guys are always pushing for the final frontier - its part of the testosterone thing which I call the "stupid drug" - and the reason you ladies were so impressed with our bravado. Yep, its the reason we do what we do - and you are hard-wired to fall for it. The stupider and more brazen we are in our bravado, the more you love us. Some are drawn to it like moths to flames and it leaves the better of us males wondering why the "goody two-shoes" female of our affection blindly walked past us to go hang out with the "James Dean" bad-boy behind curtain number two. Before I get some angry comments at the end of the article, I have to caveat here that it was Eve who initially pushed the envelope in the Garden, and it was my wife who pushed the button on the decision to move to Montana and boldly go where no family had gone before, whilst I was madly protesting the insanity of it...... I have since come around......
I dare say - part of putting off the natural man is finding joy in the simple things found in the day-to-day routine and being content with our lot in life - while still striving according to the promptings of the Spirit so that we can progress back into Christ's presence. Part of the reason I DO NOT like video games, extreme shows like Survivor, television, pornography, cell phones, drugs and alot of other addicting stuff is that it drives the human trait to up the ante on everything until it leaves you exhausted and unfulfilled because you simply cannot take it to the next level. The old Eagles song, "Life in the Fast Lane" kind of sums that lifestyle up in a nut shell; it will surely "make you lose your mind".... Our kids are suffering terribly because they feel the intense pressure to be like everyone else around them stuck on this treadmill - but knowing they are the backward ones who do not have TV, the latest smart phone, the latest clothes, the newest car, doing all the coolest things. The anti-dote for that is the coming destruction - and I cannot wait. It will fix every complaint I still have after doing everything I have striven to do to position my family with the "bow into the wave"..... I know it will eventually fix all of society's ills - and knowing the medicine is much better than the illness, I just wait and attempt to be as much of a force for good as I can while I wait, wait, wait.....
So, after all this back-ground, I was shocked to find out that there may be a reason behind the coming Draper Lake. Man, if this stuff is going on around you, all I can say is get out now or make sure your house is to seismic code or you have your food storage in a large boat that will be able to withstand what is coming.... If you are into this debased stuff (anyone who is on this site, unless by chance, surely is not unless it is to mock....), you need to repent immediately!
Here is the article and e-mail from a friend that got me spun up. I was kind of blind-sided after reading this.
I do not put this out there to be salacious or open people up to temptation - but we do need to be aware that it is going on and then to run the other direction. My sister said they have friends who are into this and that they had been invited. She and her husband actually were kind of asking me if I thought this was okay or where on the spectrum they thought it fell..... They got an ear-full, of course. They probably had not read my post on human BBQ to get a feel for what comes next...... Yup, we are livin in the last days.....
WOW!!!! I had no idea!
Well, that kind of stuff is definitely "lake-worthy" kind of stuff! I have to say, if that IS going on in a ward, it would definitely be AWKWARD on a Sunday morning with the Sacrament tray rolling around......

Your post on the coming Draper lake and why it should happen there reminded me of an article I read a few years ago in the Deseret News about Draper and the south valley being the center of swinger groups. There is even a hookup site that lists the couples in Draper (and other places) that want to "get together" to break their vows of chastity.
I used to live in Riverton across I-15 from Draper/Sandy and I have to say that it's not hard to feel the wickedness and worldliness of that area. Even most members of the Church there seem to be spiritually dead. We struggled mightily for 2 1/2 years there because our ward was so plagued by apathy and lack of commitment. Just before we arrived, there had been a couple of scandalous divorces due to infidelity and it had had a real impact on the ward. My buddy who lives in Sandy reports that his ward is much the same, spiritually dead, people just going through the motions.
As you know Brigham young had a new foundation built for the Temple after they covered it when Johnson's army came.. it was repositioned over a massive rock that now acts as a pendulum.
ReplyDeleteOKAY this entire concept about something bad happening to an entire city because some people in a city are wicked is ABSOLUTELY UBSURD and makes me laugh at the self righteousness of the concept. However, lets follow this concept a little shall we?
ReplyDelete1. Apia Samoa temple burns in 2009 = It must have been because the people were worldly and wicked and not deserving a “House of the Lord” RIGHT?
2. Katrina flood in New Orleans = People must have been wicked and asking for it RIGHT? Addressing this issue Pres. Hinckley said "Now, I do not say, and I repeat emphatically that I do not say or infer, that what has happened is the punishment of the Lord. Many good people, including some of our faithful Latter-day Saints, are among those who have suffered.” Gen. Conf. 2005
3. Twin towers on 9/11 – I know someone was having an adulterous relationship that worked in the building – so the Lord punished everyone. Had they been righteous like me they would have been sick that day or their car would not have started allowing them to get to work on time, etc. etc.
Fact of the matter is that Draper has some FANTASTIC saints who live there, old farmers that work hard, a temple with many HUNDRED temple workers, several full time Missionaries, 30 or so bishops and 3 stake presidents and many humble people that live in small homes and apartments. Does it have worldly people, yep. Does it have adultery, yep. JUST LIKE EVERYWHERE ELSE.
Does your town have a temple with many HUNDRED temple workers, several full time Missionaries, 30 or so bishops and 3 stake presidents? Better watch out!
I've lived on the "EDGE" for several years in the Air Force flying RF-4Cs. I know what an adrenalin rush is... it almost took my life. I've done some amazing things flying low level. But, now, I simply do not need that adrenalin rush to make my life worthwhile. The "World" would make you think it so. Getting shot at is an adrenalin rush… I don’t recommend it!
ReplyDeleteMost people who play a lot of gaming usually get a "sense of accomplishment" out of the game they are playing... but have nothing to show for it except... playing a game… NO ACCOMPLISHMENT. This is one of Satan's way of seeing that you do not accomplish your mission on earth... distracting you.
If you want to have a sense of accomplishment, do a little HARD work. Yes, the body is tired and sweaty... but you accomplished something. Not just play a game.
If you want something to be "special", do it less often AND ON SPECIAL OCCASIONS so that it doesn't become common place. You will enjoy it more.
Endorphins are not the spice of life. I treat myself to something NEW twice a year... My Birthday and Christmas... Yes, I buy myself a Christmas present and a Birthday present… I know what I want. My birthday happens to be in June. I know that my desires for new "stuff" in insatiable, therefore, I can't possible afford new stuff all the time. I am appreciating this more than if I got them every week.
There is a saying, "May you have enough"... enough pain to enjoy pleasure, enough rain to enjoy the sunshine, enough sunshine to enjoy the rain, enough work to enjoy rest... etc.
When I work at the temple, I help about 25-30 people each time to have the potential of obtaining the Celestial Kingdom. Now, can you accomplish anything better?
Draper Lake… I believe Draper Lake happens because the Saints will need fresh water when the “Saints are gathered in.”
Sorry for my rant.
May you have enough...
