One of the great initiatives given by EJ Wood was to get a satisfactory vote in during the Prohibition years. It was a thing during those years in this area, as well as in the States. To this day, Cardston remains a "dry" town after they drove the saloons out.
There is a place south and east of us known as Whiskey Gap where the hooch was smuggled in the dry years of Prohibition.
My Grandfather, Earl Woodward was a freighter to the mining towns in Montana and this region. It was a tough life filled with hardened people who were versed in gambling and addictive substances. My Gpa picked up a smoking habit in that line of work, and eventually settled down and married a non-Mormon girl that has a striking resemblance to my oldest daughter. President Wood's brother was their home teacher - and she was pricked by the HG while he was in their home and took the request to get her life in order and be baptized. She did - but my Gpa struggled with this addiction and could not take her to the temple. My mother, the oldest, was not born under the covenant due to this. One day, President Wood came up to my grandfather on Main St in Cardston (who had a cigarette in his hand) and told him that he needed to quit the habit. He was promised that if he would give it up, all of his children would follow his good example and serve missions.
He did, and took my Gma to the temple having my mother sealed to him as a young child. My mother served a teaching mission to the Maori along with my dad in 1958 as they helped establish the Church college next to the temple in Auckland, NZ. They were called personally (in a face to face meeting) by the Prophet, David O McKay. My dad taught shop and my mother taught home economics for three years. I have three siblings born in NZ from that adventure. My parents came back by boat and my father bought a white dinner jacket in Hong Kong (personally tailored). My mother wanted my dad to wear it to dances and formals she expected him to take him to as he went on to get his Phd in Industrial Engineering. He ended up teaching at Western Washington for several years until he tired of the politics of campus life and left for the private sector. I wore that coat in the 1980's to several formals and wore it the day I was married in 1992. It made my mother happy to know that I got some good miles out of it.
My two uncles both served honorable full-time proselyting missions. The youngest, my Aunt Kaye served a full-time mission after her husband finally converted to the church as a married adult. I figure she always knew he would come around from that prophecy made earlier.
This prophecy was fulfilled perfectly - just one of many of that honorable man; EJ Wood.

A PROPHECY OF THE TEN TRIBES COMING THROUGH CARDSTON
I have taken a much-deserved vacation with my family to visit family in Eastern Washington and then for a few days camping and enjoying Silverwood Resort with my own family. It has been wonderful. If you want a real family experience without the lines of Disneyland, Silverwood is a great value and a good time was had by all. The six man water slide tube was our favorite - my wife would almost get tossed every time and just seeing the sheer terror on her face was worth the hike to the top of the hill each time. Priceless. The roller coasters are also pretty good and the food cheap and of good quality. It cannot be beat for value.
While on this relaxation, my goal was to finish the book, A Treasury of EJ Wood. It is over 700 pages long. I found it in a Cardston bookstore as a second hand. I am hoping to glean some of the things from President Wood's life. His life was one filled with service - he simply loved people. He led these people through so much hardship in two world wars and the Great Depression. It is amazing how strong of a leader he was. He had the gift of prophecy in spades and was loved by thousands. I would be happy to have the affection of dozens or hundreds in my insignificant lifetime.
His prophecies include some still to come about. Old Chief will crumble in the Great EQ (Matthew 24, I believe) and it will signal to the Cree (of the Great Lakes tribes that are the remnant of Lehi), that they are to gather at Waterton Lakes, west of Cardtson.
Here is a little gem from page 541 of the book:
"A prophetic outlook was given the people just a few years ago in one of the Church conferences of the area by one of the present Apostles of the Church. ELITE PEDOPHILE RINGS - GET THE WORD OUT
This stuff needs to be trumpeted from the rooftops until it is common knowledge. I have been talking about it forever. It is insidious and at every level of government and usually involves the pillars of most communities.
I was first exposed to this dark side of life when I was working summers during college in Eastern Washington. A woman, the wife of my coworker had this sordid tale of this kind of thing going on in a ward (a counselor to the Bishop and the EQ and RS presidencies and others in the inner circle) were involved. It left her very messed up - but he stuck with her. He was an amazing good man; very gentle of spirit. We talked for weeks during lunch as he filled me in. Glenn L Pace was involved in the investigations at the highest level of the Church. Hopefully, they caught these swine and not only threw the book at them ecclesiastically, but legally as well.....
My wife is a victim of sexual abuse at the hand of her step-dad who was a branch president of a very small Colorado town at the time (he was asking to be released due to his struggle with sexual addiction - which only fueled the abuse, I am sure). I am VERY vocal about it - open about it and I have been called out MANY times for not "hush-hushing" it. Of course, I call bullshit on anyone who attempts to shut me down - for I will bring this stuff to light and will not back down from a challenge or fight about it. It thrives in the dark and sodden places, and shrinks and sublimates in the light of day. Truth loves light, and error darkness.

Kudos to Dr Phil for shining a bright light on this stuff. It is disgusting and must be stamped out. In the destruction that comes, it will all be expunged. And it cannot not happen soon enough so that we can have a day of rest from this and raise our children and grandchildren as calves in the stall.
It is in all levels of the government - as the combinations that promote it have "gotten above us" - or out of the ability to control or stamp it out. The only option when this happens, is to hit the reset button as we have ripened in iniquity as a people. In some ways, the Tribulation will be a blessed event, precisely because they will not be able to hide in their holes in the rocks and they will be hunted from place to place until they are no more for one thousand years of rest of them.

AN HISTORIC FAMILY - FAMILIA HELVECIO MARTINS
When it comes to some of my most fond memories, this is it: being associated with this man.....
President Martins was my Mission President. I was in the office serving as AP when he received his call to the 70's. I was there to help him with his overly strong Carioca accent as he worked on his first Conference talk in English. It seemed overwhelming - and he struggled mightily. He was a self-made man. From the slums of Rio to an executive position at PetroBras. From a good but not LDS home, to the history books within the LDS Church as the first black 70 and whose son served the first LDS mission.
I cannot say for sure - but I believe it was the tender moment in the Celestial Room of the Sao Paulo Temple (under construction at the time), that President Kimball witnessed and was resolved to put the question and plea to fervent prayer. Remember that Bruce R. McConkie had famously said that blacks would not receive the Priesthood until the Millennium (and also said that man would not be allowed to walk on the moon) - so there were some difficult moments as the 1978 Revelation came through a unanimous vote in the affirmative. The hard-liners had been moved upon by something.
There was a faction within the Church who fell by the wayside (just as there is in this whole "marriage" thing). As a 10 year old kid, I still remember the excitement and general confusion at the same time. My folks were kind of middle of the streamers.
Out in Pennsylvania, I remember as a kid driving past an old mansion that was hosting a wedding of a black man and a white woman and hearing my father (cannot remember what my mother said), saying that intermarriage was wrong. I do not fault them - we had just come through the sixties with all that upheaval and controversy. I still maintain the belief that there was a full spectrum in the pre-existence as there is in any grouping of sensiate things (animals, insects, humans) and even in my work in the Quality (product performance). You simply have bell curves on everything. Students, breeding stock at the dairy; whatever. So, in order to produce something less than pure chaos, you have strains of the best to take the lead (you take the most capable and make Him a Savior). You take the best woman and make her the head of the human race - rinse and repeat with Sarah and Mary. The infusion of that goodness leads the herd and helps those who are less inclined spiritually, or physically or mentally. We call them teachers or guides. There is no offense in this. I am considered a "gentile". I find no offense in that. Had I lived in Samaria as a "half breed", I would find no offense in Christ's mandate to take it to the House of Israel first (who qualified in the pre-existent realms for the privilege) - and then to others. It is a principle.
In each grouping, you have pre-eminent ones like Helvecio. Forerunners - those who were sent before to prepare the way.
So, I salute a great man who was a very positive influence in my life and his dear wife, Ruda who is still alive. May I see her next year at the Fortaleza Temple dedication - where I am sure she will be in a position of honor as one who helped lay the foundation of a great work in that part of the vinyard:

GROWING UP AS CALVES IN THE STALL
I love this statement from Isaiah. It plants a perfect picture of Millennial life.
Where we have parents who care and who teach only good principles - and successive generations who espouse and teach good principles.
This is part of the reason Pres. Nelson and those leading have talked about spiritual preparation as much as physical preparation. We just moved in Cardston and live literally in the shadow of the temple. My aunt just moved and also lives in the shadow of the temple. Cardston is not a perfect place, nor the people - but this is the best shot I can give my kids for growing up as calves in the stall. The High School is just behind the youth entrance to the Baptismal and the children often go on their half days of school to perform youth baptisms. It is an amazing place to be with youth.

My wife approached her room one day and she was busy saying stuff that undermined our value set, to the two oldest children. I have not been made privy to what it was exactly - but it made my wife very upset. When she gets upset, I know to be upset along with her because she gets along with everyone and everyone loves her for her gentle demeanor.
For this and other reasons, we punched out and moved to Cardston. It cost our family in the tens of thousands of dollars in the fire sale and run for the border - but a line had been crossed and you do not put a price on salvation of innocents. There are physical pedophiles (that can harm the body - and thus the mind and subsequently the spirit) - and there are those who can harm the spirit in a frontal assault. I am not sure which one I would rather take my chances with - if I were forced to choose, but I never stuck around long enough to attempt to figure that one out. We were gone in a way that still takes my breath away; we accomplished the inhuman in record time. I am not sure I will ever accomplish anything with as much energy ever again. It was akin to all the effort put into my mission or getting an engineering degree in about a four month period. I was motivated as never before.
Last night, in the cool of the evening, I ran into a young family who have the light of Christ in their countenance. The wife taught a sour-dough class that my wife attended. We chatted briefly and I asked the usual question (had they read VoG?). The answer was yes - so I walked with them until I had given my whole "spiel" on the matter (defended Spencer, etc and laid out the facts as they are, and not as the FAIRisees have portrayed him).
One of my parting statements was that I do not care the consequences, but that I would like to raise my kids as "calves in the stalls" devoid of predators who would steal innocence, sap faith, break down truth or lay waste to good reason. As we "call ourselves out" of Babylon and work to strengthen those around us, may we all be part of this great and glorious future. May we live up to our potential and throw off our shackles, no matter what they may be as we bring in Zion.
May we one day be able to live in the shadow of the temple of the "Center Stake" of Zion.

WAS AN ATTEMPT MADE TO POISON TRUMP??
If this ever gets out in the open, it will only be if it is leaked because it will be classified to keep the copy catters at bay.
But the SS agent who took sick in GB during this last trip and died two days later was likely a food tester for Trump.
Trump may have dodged a bullet.
He apparently eats a lot of fast food - they may be able to spit on the burger - but for the average burger flipper to who may hate Trump to come up with ricin or some deadly biological or radiological agent to add as a "spice"; EXTREMELY unlikely. I would adopt this very tactic if I were in those large shoes.

A STATE OF AFFAIRS IN THE SL VALLEY
Just how wicked is SLC? I was talking about Spencer's prediction that Sandy and south will fall into it's own lake bottom with someone and I was shocked when they knew about the swinging couples down there. Draper Lake it just a single EQ away....
Totally bad news in parts of town - and then there is the "gay cruising" in City Creek Canyon where people hook up like dawgs in the alleyway for trysts. As youth leaders on a service project, we were shocked that we were finding so many clothes in the bushes until we started putting two and two together. People were losing them in the dark after they had shed them..... Just sick when you think about it. Worse than Sodom and Gomorrah.
And you cannot even bring up talk of the Law of Chastity at work - or you are shut down in QUITE short order. You can - but you will pay a heavy social price when a homosexual is present. No "slut" shaming allowed in the big cities. Even Calgary.
Folks - we are at a critical juncture in history. The people will not repent - nor will they keep a repentant spirit about them and they revile when the topic of sin comes up. I do not care to abrade those who are struggling - we all struggle with human weakness.
As long as we can talk God's position - I am fine with someone. I have a co-worker who would travel to Mexico on business and who has a GF down there. He is single in his mid-40's. We would talk about it - and he knows I am conservative and he would say that he knows he needs to give up the girls and the booze and keep an honest wife. One of the coolest chaps I know. Precisely because he knows his position before God. God can work with that. So can I.
I have a MIL who has made a mess of her life since my wife's biological father died in Vietnam. One day, we had a convo where she was talking about eternal bliss with him after this life is over. I just looked at her with a dumbfounded look. I could not believe what I was hearing. Since the death in Vietnam, this woman was married once and had a ton-load of exploits with other men and she was talking about having an eternal and covenant relationship with the guy she was temple-sealed to after it was all over?? That is a solid case of cognitive dissonance in a massive way.
Similar thing with another sibling who has taken the long detour off the straight and narrow and cannot bear to hear the "talk out behind the woodshed" or "where the rubber meets the road" when it comes to what we are supposed to be doing.
I have no problem with the Prodigal situation - we are all in that boat in one sense or another. I have a major problem with those who think Daddy-O should kill the fatted calf with no change in behavior on their part. The Father only welcomed him back - after blowing his inheritance - when he admitted that he was not worthy to even feast with the pigs at the trough.... Let alone at his table. This shows that the Prodigal was not delusional about the state he was in. According to Scripture, "He came to himself".... He became aware of his awful state as the dissonance dissipated.
The one with the greatest cognitive dissonance ever to live was satan himself. All of us are somewhere on that spectrum all the way up to the Son of God who is on the opposite end of that spectrum - and who has humility in that realization.
On that note, I got some interesting comments on my previous piece on the corruption within the medical system. Truly, it is. Not all of it. I believe that there will be people to set bones and deliver babies in the Millennium - but the current system as it mostly stands, will be destroyed and sent to the trash bin. It is about money, power and control. Along with the medical system, you will have no more banks, lawyers, politicians, corrupt clergy from ALL religions (including our own) and so much else that is set up to get gain and exercise control or compulsion over the children of men. It is a moment that I can hardly wait for.
Lastly - here is the comment I saw that got me spun up on the topic of badness in the SL area:
Totally bad news in parts of town - and then there is the "gay cruising" in City Creek Canyon where people hook up like dawgs in the alleyway for trysts. As youth leaders on a service project, we were shocked that we were finding so many clothes in the bushes until we started putting two and two together. People were losing them in the dark after they had shed them..... Just sick when you think about it. Worse than Sodom and Gomorrah.
And you cannot even bring up talk of the Law of Chastity at work - or you are shut down in QUITE short order. You can - but you will pay a heavy social price when a homosexual is present. No "slut" shaming allowed in the big cities. Even Calgary.

THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY IS MOSTLY EVIL

The AMA symbol or staff of Aesculapius is one serpent around a staff. However there is also the Caduceus which is two serpents around a staff. The caduceus, which was not used to represent medicine until after 1800, is the twin-serpent magic wand of Hermes.
Hermes, also known as the "god" Mercury, was the "Protector of liars, merchants, and thieves".
And we all know what Mercury is used for, in vaccines and dental amalgams.
To give people lifelong chronic ailments that are VERY profitable for the medical establishment.
The medical establishment truly IS demonic.
