Folks - they have the U.S. outgunned in nuclear warhead technology. They have us clearly humbled in this arena. NO BUENO! Sorry if I laugh at our arrogance! We tell Russia to stay the hell out of the Ukraine's business after we send in operatives to destabilize, then overthrow the Ukrainian government with a pro-NATO junta, and then we send our destroyer over there when they do not do as they are told like good little kiddos (who the heck are we, anyway?) - and then they SCHOOL us. Our best equipment in our vaunted Navy - how humiliating! They could have sunk the ship had they wanted. All they had to do was hit the "for realz" button and it would have been over. OUCH!!
So when the actual nuking occurs and our pants are down around our waist and we are told bend over...... Folks - not going to be pretty by any stretch of the imagination. What Spence spoke of is spot on the money. I have a friend I work with who is a premiere engineer. The elite among the elite - and he says Russia can kick our can. He studied at the elite academy over there on an exchange with his college. He knows their systems and when at they can do. He also is a very red-blooded American. But it does not change his frank assessment. I believe him.
The State Department acknowledged that the crew of the destroyer USS
Donald Cook has been gravely demoralized ever since their vessel was
flown over in the Black Sea by a Russian Sukhoi-24 (Su-24) fighter jet
which carried neither bombs nor missiles but only an electronic warfare
device.
On 10 April 2014, the USS Donald Cook entered the waters
of the Black Sea and on 12 April a Russian Su-24 tactical bomber flew
over the vessel triggering an incident that, according to several media
reports, completely demoralized its crew, so much so that the Pentagon
issued a protest.
The USS Donald Cook (DDG-75) is a 4th
generation guided missile destroyer whose key weapons are Tomahawk
cruise missiles with a range of up to 2,500 kilometers, and capable of
carrying nuclear explosives. This ship carries 56 Tomahawk missiles in
standard mode, and 96 missiles in attack mode.
Meanwhile, the
Russian Su-24 that buzzed the USS Donald Cook carried neither bombs nor
missiles but only a basket mounted under the fuselage, which, according
to the Russian newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta, contained a Russian
electronic warfare device called Khibiny.
As the Russian jet
approached the US vessel, the electronic device disabled all radars,
control circuits, systems, information transmission, etc. on board the
US destroyer. In other words, the all-powerful Aegis system, now hooked
up - or about to be - with the defense systems installed on NATO’s most
modern ships was shut down, as turning off the TV set with the remote
control.
The Russian Su-24 then simulated a missile attack
against the USS Donald Cook, which was left literally deaf and blind. As
if carrying out a training exercise, the Russian aircraft - unarmed -
repeated the same maneuver 12 times before flying away.
After that, the 4th generation destroyer immediately set sail towards a port in Romania.

thank you for the heads-up about the book. I just ordered a copy from
Barnes and Noble. 2 things: 1) I haven't seen that you've mentioned
Julie Rowe's latest book. I read it on Kindle the day it came out. Would
love to hear your impression of it. I enjoyed it! 2) I always get the
feeling that you are looking forward to people being wiped out or
destroyed. For example, this quote from your above article: "Welcome to
the great sift, folks. This whole marriage thing (including the gay
mess) is really getting juicy! Enjoy the foray. Take bets on which of
your friends and family will not make it thru the doctrinal and
testimonial maelstrom." Wow, using words like "welcome to," "getting
juicy," "enjoy," "take bets" sounds anything but charitable to me. Just
my opinion...but aren't you heartbroken at the thought of loved-ones and
friends being on the "outs?
After a second read the day following the writing, it did sound kind of harsh to me, as well. I guess you could say I have gotten extremely fed up with people who have called Joseph a pervert after finding this stuff out - instead of giving him the benefit of the doubt after having judged the mountain of other evidence to the contrary. I have a few close family members who have done just this - and generally, who have been otherwise hard hearted and faithless in their walk. This despite my best efforts to try and get them to see the light. After frustrating year after frustrating year of watching them kick against the pricks (and even attack my character in a similar vein to the spirit in which they attacked Joseph's - calling me an animal, adulterer, etc etc etc), I say burn in hell for a little while until you figure it out. The best way to reform somebody is to take away even that which they have (in the case of criticizing some of the best people to walk the face of the earth - the would be the removal of the Holy Ghost). Once they have marinated in their own misery, they will finally come crawling back and admit the mess they created. Martin Harris comes to mind. In the case of my loved ones - that would include their fruits which includes the other destroyed lives and wreckage they left behind. Which they will be responsible for - as "a generation of vipers shall not escape the damnations of hell". Yep, it was a little uncharitable, but you have to understand that I have seen someone with Stage 1 cancer remove the breast or nodes and have bad scars and some pain. I have also seen those who left the cancer to fester until it reached a Stage 4, and then they had hundreds of times the cancer growth and pain - and a grisly death to show for it. In my analytical mind (a little cold or unfeeling at times), it is MUCH better to deal with the hurt up front than to deal with a world of hurt later on. In the war in heaven, we lost a third of our spiritual siblings - but who knows how much more wreckage would have ensued had they gone on yet another eternity before they were cast out. The whole bickering mess must have been too much for Parents who are ordered, clean, and not used to drama in the Celestial Home. To have it gone would have been priceless.
When I speak of family members who have fallen over this concept, both are probably struggling with unrepented sexual sin, yet would be the first to start lobbing stones at Joseph Smith for his "sexual deviancy" of plural wives. From what I understand, one of these individuals in my family even had an affair with a BYU professor years ago when she was a student...... Yet, would accuse me of being less than a perfect person in this area, etc. Would not give Joseph Smith, etc the benefit of the doubt in this case. We excised these two from the family - and the drama suddenly died and normalcy has returned to the "castle". Identical (in my mind) how it must have been those millennia ago in the courts of heaven when satan and his minions were cast out...... Peace at last.
I see this timing as an excising within our Church. We have way too many who are "social mormons" but who have no real deep and abiding foundation. This makes for an inherently weak whole body. I would prefer the tree hacked down to the root, but that comes back stronger than one that is weak and infested with defects in it's trunk. I think the first one will make out better, longer over time.
Am I sad that all are not saved? Yep - this is God's stated work. But - I also know that there are wolves lurking and they do so among the luke warm members of the Church. A good purge is necessary, now and again..... This most likely will be it.
There were seven women (and one man - I thought the number was odd, and so did my wife) who made it into a Priesthood session in Ogden, UT and they made it into the news. Probably the SLTrib (the nasty rag that it is)...... One of the women was my wife's former BYU room mate who is a managing editor of the Sunstone (another lovely rag....). Real rif-raf that needs to just self-excise from the Church already.... The Koriwhores are going out the door with the rest of the trash. Indeed there will be mourning that they did not get it turned around in time to work out their salvation, but no love lost over the lack of peace that was experienced before the purge.
It is all part of the plan. The good, the bad. The ugly, the pretty. I guess I have more or less consigned myself to the inevitability of it all......
Folks - the reason you stockpile gold is to bolster your currency reserves or prepare so you can buy those strategic materials needed for your war machine. If hitler had not had the infusion of gold and cash from the Jewish banksters (and Ford, Rockefeller, etc) that were supporting that side of the war, there would have been no way he could have stayed in the game as long as he did with so few resources in the original Germany. His other option was to invade and acquire oil fields, mines and human capital that he needed to keep going. Not to forget the banks and the contents of their vaults and personal fortunes of jewels/precious metals/paintings of those deemed sub-human, as he ploughed through new territory.
It is the THE best book (other than scripture) that I have ever read. Just pure intellectual eye candy and delicious to the taste.
I have tried to find a copy of this in vain for 5 years since I first discovered it. There was one that because available at a book store for around $500 and I almost paid the dollars for it. Now Amazon has it available for $60 including shipping and I just gave myself an early Christmas present..... WOOHOO!!!!!
I am sure the timing of this edition was set to coincide perfectly with this announcement about Joseph and the wives of many varieties. If you still have any questions about polygamy after reading this, you do not belong in the Kingdom anyway. Sorry - but this is definitive. No stone is left unturned. Get them while they are hot. I have heard the assessment that the Mormons were next on the list after the Jews, the Jehovah's Witnesses and a few other groups. Not a good place to be in. This article seems to talk of a glowing relationship with the Nazi's. Me? I would have high-tailed it out of there.....

In December of 1933, a newspaper article
was written in the Church News section of The Deseret News. The title
of the article was “Mormonism in the New Germany.” This article praised
the new regime of Adolf Hitler and sought to compare the glory of LDS
teachings with the new doctrine of Nazism that was spreading across the
German nations. The article’s author, Dale Clark, was not the only
Mormon to openly praise Hitler and Nazi Germany. Many other Mormon
publications, including The Millennial Star, were used to compare and
contrast Mormonism with Nazi Germany.
The first correlation of
the LDS church with Nazism centered on the dynamic leader of Germany,
Adolf Hitler. He was charismatic, strong, dedicated to his beliefs, a
great orator, and was widely viewed as a savior figure to the
Fatherland. Many Mormons could appreciate the qualities of a figure like
Hitler, as these characteristics were the same ones valued in a General
Authority of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Those
traits continued to stretch into more concrete beliefs that Latter-Day
Saints could identify with, namely the Word of Wisdom.
Dale Clark described Hitler’s dedication to principles found in Doctrine and Covenants section 89 in the following manner:
There
is another noticeable trend in the “Mormon” direction. It is a very
well known fact that Hitler observes a form of living which “Mormons”
term the “Word of Wisdom.” He will not take alcohol, does not smoke and
is very strict about his diet, insisting on plain and wholesome foods,
largely vegetarian.
When compared with verses from section 89 it is easy to understand how Clark came to that conclusion:
5 That inasmuch as any man drinketh wine or strong drink among you, behold it is not good…
7 And, again, strong drinks are not for the belly, but for the washing of your bodies.
8 And again, tobacco is not for the body, neither for the belly, and is not good for man…
10 And again, verily I say unto you, all wholesome herbs God hath ordained for the constitution, nature, and use of man—
11 Every herb in the season thereof, and every fruit in the season thereof; all these to be used with prudence and thanksgiving.
12
Yea, flesh also of beasts and of the fowls of the air, I, the Lord,
have ordained for the use of man with thanksgiving; nevertheless they
are to be used sparingly;
His praise continues; Clark focuses on
the product of obeying a Mormon lifestyle. He shows that due to Hitler’s
clean living he has a superior mind and body that allowed him to rise
above the struggles of the great depression in Germany. His dynamic
leadership and choosing to live the principles of the Word of Wisdom
have set an example for the youth. This insinuates that as a result of
obeying a higher law that Hitler has been blessed by God:
“These
two colorful leaders (Adolf Hitler & Joseph Goebbels) of the new
Germany, in their gigantic struggle for political supremacy have needed
capable bodies and clear brains and have trained like athletes. Their
very popularity is making intemperance more unpopular. The fact that
they are worshiped may be one big reason for a growing dislike for
smoking and drinking in Germany today.”
These are not the only
comparisons that Clark draws between Mormon doctrine and Nazi culture.
Under the direction of Hitler, National Socialism seeks to care for the
needs all German citizens, much like the welfare programs of the church.
Clark describes one of the new programs implemented by Hitler as an
idea that has long been a central component of the LDS religion and thus
further proof that Germany is preparing itself for the Gospel:
“Their
trump card to show the originality and political genius of the Hitler
party was the brilliant method they have under taken to put over the
charity drive for this winter. To them it was phenomenal; to the friend,
however, it was just another application of the effective method that
has been in use in the ‘Mormon’ church for decades. The Nazis have
introduced ‘Fast Sunday.'”
The German version of Fast Sunday is
incredibly similar to that of the LDS Church. The fast is implemented on
the first Sunday of the month and asks those that can afford it to
forgo two meals in order to collect funds to feed the needy in the
country. The idea behind this special fast was to build unity and
alleviate the the suffering of those within Germany.
Clark was
not the only one to make the comparison to “Fast Sunday.” Several of the
LDS missionaries documented the practice in their journals and came to
the same conclusion. One such missionary, Sanford Bingham, wrote in his
journal in 1936 the following account documenting just one of the many
missionaries’ first-hand accounts of how Nazi Germany compared to the
religion they were trying to preach:
“A number of interesting
parallels can be seen between the church and some of the ideas and
policies of the National Socialists . . .The similarities between
Mormons and Hitler ranged from views of the family, the importance of
marriage, the strength of the educational system, the courage of the
Mormon pioneers, the sense of the Word of Wisdom, the wisdom of a fast
day to help the poor, the value of youth programs and the need to do
genealogy.”
The Mormon publication The Millennial Star also
printed their comparison of the two programs, showing unique but united
Mormon perspectives from around the world on Naziism:
“It is
indeed singular that a comparison of the details of the two systems of
organized fasting shows them to be so nearly identical. Perhaps that
part of the message of the Restored Gospel may have been directly or
indirectly the inspiration and the model for the new scheme adopted by
the German Government—perhaps not. But evident, at least, is the fact
that consciously or unconsciously, the people of the world are
discovering that the Lord’s way is best. The leaven of the Gospel is
spreading.”
The comparisons between the two systems extended
beyond the Word of Wisdom. Programs such as the Hitler Youth were
directly correlated to the Boy Scouts, a staple of Mormon youth. Womens
organizations in the church have their counterparts as well; Young
Women’s Mutual Improvement and the Relief Society are Bund der Deutschen
Madel and Frauenschaft, respectively.
Clark continued in his
article to emphasize the similarities with the genealogical program of
the church. As the new idea of Aryan bloodlines began to surface in
Germany, genealogical work for German families needed to be performed to
prove their purity. Genealogy having already been recorded for decades
in Mormon households set the Saints apart from their neighbors. The
German government now set up genealogical facilities making it easier
than ever before to find family records. The German members of the
church were also recognized as patriots for their exceptional
record-keeping:

As
Hitler came to power, like most dictators, he sought to consolidate
that power for himself. Most religions were openly attacked and
outlawed, but Mormonism was allowed to thrive. Missionaries continued to
share their message with others as other minority sects such as the
Jehovah’s Witnesses were banned.
While touring the European
missions President Heber J. Grant visited the church members in Germany.
He recognized the privilege that the Nazis were granting the saints to
continue to practice their religion. There were minor exceptions to what
could be taught, of course, as rhetoric concerning Zion or the New
Jerusalem would not be permitted. President Grant saw an opportunity and
instructed the saints to “Stay here. Keep the Commandments. Try to get
along the best you can, even under some limitations. We want to keep the
Church intact and the missionaries working.”

The
Church then went on a campaign to align itself with the Nazi government
and draw paralellels between the two ideologies. The Church magazine in
Germany, Der Stern, emphasized that the Mormon Senator from Utah, Reed
Smoot, was a longtime friend of Germany. Later, another article was
written in the official paper of the Nazi party, Volkischer Beobachter,
by the mission president of the East German Mission, Alfred C. Rees.
Rees did his best to draw comparisons between the plight of early Mormonism and the struggle of the Nazi party:
“The
Mormon people know what persecution and suppression mean. And the
German people who have gone through the shadow of the valley since the
World War; and who have been forced to rely upon their own strength and
determination, and upon their undying belief in their own ability to
restore their self-respect and their merited place among the mighty
sisterhood of nations, reveal that same progressive character, which
does not shun obstacles. For that reason, to a student of Mormonism,
recent developments in Germany present a most impressive comparison.”
Looking
back on these statements it is hard to imagine that a church of God
would align itself with some of the most despicable leaders of the past
century. It is a lesson, however, in how the Church should conduct
itself in other nations and with other cultures. As the Church continues
to grow and expand their missionary efforts in other countries, they
must be prepared for unsavory and hostile governments. The Church’s past
diplomatic strategy has previously been defined by the twelfth Article
of Faith: “We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and
magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.” By tacitly
endorsing rulers like Hitler and the Nazis, it forever tarnishes the
image of the Church in places like Germany, where such endorsements are
not quickly forgotten.

ARAD,
Romania — He reveled in tormenting members of the Bush family, Colin L.
Powell and a host of other prominent Americans, and also in outfoxing
the F.B.I. and the Secret Service, foiling their efforts to discover
even his nationality, never mind his identity. Early this year, however,
the elusive online outlaw known as Guccifer lost his cocky composure
and began to panic.
He smashed his hard drive and cellphone with an ax.
That
spasm of precautionary destruction, at his home in Romania’s
Transylvania region, did not help him much — especially as he left
pieces of what would later become evidence scattered in the mud.
Two
weeks later, on Jan. 22, a global hunt for the celebrated and
mysterious hacker who first revealed self-portraits painted by George W.
Bush and plundered a trove of personal emails from politicians,
military officers and celebrities finally ended in an early morning raid
of his home.
“I
was expecting them, but the shock was still very big for me,” the
hacker, now serving a seven-year sentence, said. He spoke in an
interview, his first, at the Arad Penitentiary here. “It is hard to be a
hacker, but even harder to erase your tracks.”
In
many ways, however, his two-year rampage through the email accounts of
rich and powerful Americans showed how easy it can be to go rogue on the
Internet and, even when armed with only rudimentary skills, to stay one
step ahead of the law, at least for a while.
The
hacker who signed off as Guccifer (pronounced GUCCI-fer) — a nom de
guerre coined, he said, to combine “the style of Gucci and the light of
Lucifer” — turned out to be Marcel-Lehel Lazar, a jobless 43-year-old
former taxi driver. He had no expertise in computers, no fancy
equipment, only a clunky NEC desktop and a Samsung cellphone, and no
special skills beyond what he had picked up on the web.
Viorel
Badea, the Romanian prosecutor who directed the case, expressed dismay
that Mr. Lazar had gotten so far with so little. “He was not really a
hacker but just a smart guy who was very patient and persistent,” Mr.
Badea said.
Instead
of burrowing into his victims’ email accounts using computer worms and
other hacking tools, the prosecutor said, Mr. Lazar trawled the web for
information about his targets and then simply guessed the right answers
to security questions. “He is just a poor Romanian guy who wanted to be
famous,” said the prosecutor, who leads a cybercrime team in Romania’s
organized crime unit.
It
took six months of trial and error for Mr. Lazar to guess the right
answers and gain access to the emails of Corina Cretu, a 47-year-old
Romanian politician who sent pictures of herself in a bikini and a
flirtatious message to Mr. Powell, the former secretary of state. Mr.
Powell, who has denied having an affair with Ms. Cretu, had urged her to
delete all their messages after he discovered that his own email
account had been hacked.
Mr.
Lazar, who is half-Hungarian, acknowledged that he relied mostly on
educated guesswork. He said he had no training in computers, though he
did work, briefly, in a computer factory. “I got fired after two weeks,”
he said.
To
cover his tracks, he launched most of his raids through a proxy server
in Russia. He figured that would hide any fingerprints leading back to
Romania, where he already had a police record. That followed a 2011
conviction for hacking into the email accounts of Romanian starlets and
other celebrities under the name Micul Fum, or Little Smoke.
Mr.
Lazar was so confident of his ability to elude detection that, late
last year, he started boasting of his exploits to The Smoking Gun, an
American website that on Jan. 6 posted a defiant email message in broken
English from the still unidentified Guccifer: “NO I am not concerned, i
think i switch the proxies go to play some backgammon on yahoo watch
tv, play with my family and daughter.”
A
day later, however, Mr. Lazar got a shock when George Maior, the head
of Romania’s domestic intelligence agency, announced that the
authorities would soon catch America’s most wanted hacker, a vow that
suggested they knew he was in Romania. Mr. Lazar, in his prison
interview, said he was also badly shaken by Mr. Maior’s description of
him as “Little Guccifer,” which to him indicated that investigators had
linked Guccifer with Little Smoke, the pseudonym he used before his 2011
arrest.
Thrown
into a panic, he decided it was time to destroy evidence of his hacking
and took an ax to his computer and cellphone in his yard in the village
of Sambateni, about 11 miles east of Arad, the Transylvanian city where
he is now in prison. “I knew they were coming for me,” he recalled. “My
sixth sense told me I was surrounded. I was losing control of the
situation.”
In
reality, the authorities still had little idea who Guccifer was. Mr.
Maior, in an interview in Bucharest, the Romanian capital, said he was
not aware that Guccifer was the same person as Little Smoke, and had
merely called him “little” to “minimize his aura of un-catchability.”
The authorities, Mr. Maior said, did not even know at the time that
Guccifer was Romanian.
But
they had suspected he might be since September, when Guccifer hijacked a
personal email account used by Mr. Maior, the security chief, and then
used it to send Romanian-language messages to Mr. Maior’s official email
account at the Romanian Intelligence Service.
Mr.
Maior promptly ordered an investigation. “It was clear he had broken
into my email,” Mr. Maior said. “He wanted to prove something. I took it
seriously.”
Aided
by American investigators, who had been hunting in vain for Guccifer
for months, the Romanians quickly homed in on Mr. Lazar, who had left a
clumsy trail of clues.
“He made many mistakes,” Mr. Badea, the prosecutor, said.
Mr. Lazar said he could have covered his tracks better if he had had more money — for a more powerful computer, for instance.
“Of
course, I could have stolen money from them,” he said, distancing
himself from the legions of his countrymen who have made Romania, the
second-poorest country in the 28-member European Union, a global leader
in Internet fraud. “I didn’t. Not a single dollar.”
An
American indictment filed against Mr. Lazar in Virginia in June accused
him of trying to extort “money and property by means of materially
false and fraudulent representations, pretenses and promises” to his
American victims, but Romanian investigators say they found no evidence
of extortion.
Romanian
officials say the United States has not asked Romania to extradite Mr.
Lazar but has sent investigators to question him to learn how he managed
to prey on so many powerful Americans. The United States Justice
Department declined to comment.
Before
agreeing to answer questions from The New York Times in prison, where
he shares a cell with four others, including two convicted murderers, he
read out a lengthy handwritten statement that he said explained the
purpose of his hacking.
A
potpourri of conspiracy theories about the terrorist attacks of Sept.
11, 2001, the 1997 death of Princess Diana and alleged plans for a
nuclear attack in Chicago in 2015, it said: “This world is run by a
group of conspirators called the Council of Illuminati, very rich
people, noble families, bankers and industrialists from the 19th and
20th century.”
Mr.
Badea, the Romanian prosecutor, scoffed at Mr. Lazar’s fixation on
so-called Illuminati as a ruse intended to give a political gloss to a
peeping-tom hacking addiction. The hacking exploits that led to his 2011
conviction involved “no Illuminati, just famous and beautiful girls,”
the prosecutor said.
Mr.
Lazar denied any interest in celebrities, asserting that he had only
stumbled on most of the people he hacked as Guccifer, a long list that
included the actress Mariel Hemingway, the “Sex and the City” author
Candace Bushnell, the editor Tina Brown, the comedian Steve Martin, the
author Kitty Kelley and many others.
With
no access to a computer in jail, he now pours out his phobias and
conspiracy theories in notebooks filled with his small, neat
handwriting. “O.K., I broke the law, but seven years in a
maximum-security prison? I am not a murderer or a thief,” he said. “What
I did was right, of course.”
