THE LOCATION OF ANCIENT ZARAHEMLA - THE CENTER TEMPLE AND THE RESTORATION OF ALL THINGS

We can ignore the words of Joseph at our own peril - but he said that the modern town of Zarahemla was to be built up on the foundations of the Book of Mormon city of Zarahemla.  Here is an excerpt from our Church history manual:

https://www.lds.org/manual/doctrine-and-covenants-and-church-history-student-study-guide/the-church-in-nauvoo-illinois/doctrine-and-covenants-125-zarahemla-iowa?lang=eng

Now, if this is correct, would there not have to be a temple there?

Indeed, there appears to have been one there with the approximate foundation outline to that of Solomon's Temple (120'x180') with three distinct areas within those walls, including berms where the outer courtyard walls would be:

Here is the article where I got the above graphic from:

Considering the fact that I found a near perfect copy of a Solomonic Temple in Hawaii when I was over there, it would indicate that Hagoth took a perfect copy of what Nephi took from the Holy Land and kept perpetuating the model (with slight variations and imperfections, of course - not to mention variations in building materials to suit local conditions).  The thing that did not change was the basic scale and outline as given to Moses.  There are many temples in the Holy Land (as far south as Egypt and up north towards Syria), with the basic design and standard model being the "home base temple" in Jerusalem, which was based on the model of the first nomadic tent structure.

Here is the write-up on what I found in Hawaii:

Yep - there are many temples that used to dot the earth.  We are just building them back up as part of the restoration of all things.  I would not be too surprised to one day (once this land is again filled to capacity after the cleansing), that a temple will again be built in this location (Zarahemla).

If you care to read, here is more material on quotes about the fate of Hagoth and his descendants:

  1. After reading some comments under one who is watching, it seems some commenters...not all...and some bloggers...not all...are used as hook-up sites. Check out JennyP1969's comments and the blogger's comments back to her...then their communication at least in that venue ends....
