"If America is destroyed, it may be by Americans who salute the flag, sing the national anthem, march in patriotic parades, cheer Fourth of July speakers - normally good Americans who fail to comprehend what is required to keep our country strong and free - Americans who have been lulled away into a false security." (April 1968, General Conference Report)
We are there. ETB and Cleon Skousen have both warned and forewarned. Then they were pulled from the scene. Next comes destruction and usually a few people to observe from a distance and record what happened for the next generation (think Ether and Moroni).
Is there some reason why the leadership of the Church are so silent on warnings? We have to look to prophets of the past? Does the Church really know how to warn? I am afraid that when disasters happen, most of the membership of this Church will be lost.
ReplyDeleteIn Lehi's day as other prophets; they were warning the people until their lives were threatened. We are not talking about a few nut cases wanting to kill them, it is the general populace who were after these prophets. Because they talked so plainly to the people. I don't see the similarities here today, people must look into past talks such as this one in 1968 to find a warning. Is that really a warning for us today?
The good people will be caught flat footed, mostly the loyal youth, and I am talking of those in their 20's 30's and 40's are so distracted today by Babylon, as to not pay attention to the events around the world threatening our national financial security, or at the very least they are in a state of denial.
Elder M Russell Ballard in a 2014 jan. Ensign In an article "Face the Future with Faith and Hope" Tells the people to "face the future with optimism". ( which I can agree to some degree) "I believe we are standing on the threshold of a new era of growth, prosperity, and abundance. Barring a calamity or unexpected international crisis, I think the next few years will bring a resurgence in the world economy as new discoveries are made in communication. medicine, energy, transportation, physics ect..
I really want to believe in that story.
Maybe we should face the future with optimism anyway regardless of what comes.
We can't weave our lives around the future of destruction can we?
I am simply trying to be objective here.
