So, if alot of stuff on this blog is correct, then BHO is the anti-Christ leading Babylon in a bid to dominate the world and subjugate the people monetarily, spiritually, mentally, militarily and from a governmental standpoint. For many, learning or accepting that their nation (which used to be the most lofty and amazing beacon of hope to the distressed, poor and downtrodden) is now on the brink of disaster and destruction for her willfulness and disobedience to God and His chosen servants; that is a difficult thing to comprehend. But then, I have never shied away from saying or doing the unpopular thing in my life.
The next bitter pill for many in the LDS Church should be that the Book of Mormon was written not necessarily for the Catholics or Jews (unless they are in the process of becoming converted to the true and everlasting gospel through the reading of that book) - but for those who would read it; or should be reading it regularly - us active Latter-Day Saints. All of the shreds in the end of 2 Nephi and 4 Nephi and Mormon and Moroni are calls to us (the readers) to repent and come unto Christ. It is to point out that WE are in the gall of bitterness and not under the pall of betterness - like we should be. That is a sobering realization when it finally dawns on us. It did for me right around 2005 - and it floored me and shook me to the core. I was (and probably still am) among the arrogant who would read 2 Nephi 28-29 and then turn and rail on the Catholics or some other religion (whose adherents will most likely never read the book in this life) for their slothfulness and backwardness. Oh, how I was wrong. Mormon saw my day and my situation - not necessarily theirs.
This is the message of Denver Snuffer. My wife and I have talked much about whether he is a true messenger or a charlatan. She has even written him and corresponded with him. Our jury is still out. I hope the best thing comes out of this Church Court on September 8th. If he is justified, I pray that he will speak boldly and clearly and leave those in attendance speechless. If he is not justified in what his intentions are, I hope he has the insight and discernment to see things as they really are. At the very least, he has well over 300 followers on his blog - and we do not need another splinter group called the Snufferites of the Latter-Days. It simply does not have a good ring to it.....
And, as an afterthought, here is something from LDSAVOW that I happen to agree with. Now, after ALL this offensive war-mongering we have engaged in for decades, we are about to have our goose cooked and it will not be good.
Beware:Like the Nephites, we may have lost the right to protection from our GodI can't take my mind off the situation in the middle east. The fact that we're about to start another unrighteous war with a nation in the middle east is beyond frightening. But this time, I think the ramifications are more serious than we imagine. The Book of Mormon explains why...
The Book Of Mormon contains a 1000 year history of two groups of people named the Lamanites and the Nephites who were descendants of the Tribe of Manasseh. In short, The Nephites were God fearing people who worshiped Christ and were "the other sheep" that Christ said "should hear his voice" (see St John 10:16). The Lamanites did not believe in Christ and continually sought to destroy the Nephites. Throughout the entire Book Of Mormon, the Lamanites sallied into Nephite territory and launched preemptive wars against the Nephites, and the Nephites, with the help of God, were supported and victorious in defending themselves against those who sought their destruction.
The Nephites never sent their troops into Lamanite territory to launch a preemptive attack, nor did the Nephites police or occupy the land of the Lamanites(Even though they believed the Lamanites to be a blood-thirsty and violent people, and could have gone in as "saviors" and liberated the Lamanites!). From 200 AD until around 400 AD, the Nephites turned from a state of Righteousness and loyalty to Christ and his teachings to a state of wickedness. At the end of The Book Of Mormon, the Lamanites attacked the Nephites on Nephite soil and the Nephites beat the Lamanites, and the following was written:7 And it came to pass that in the three hundred and sixty and first year the Lamanites did come down to the city of Desolation to battle against us; and it came to pass that in that year we did beat them, insomuch that they did return to their own lands again.
8 And in the three hundred and sixty and second year they did come down again to battle. And we did beat them again, and did slay a great number of them, and their dead were cast into the sea.
9 And now, because of this great thing which my people, the Nephites, had done, they began to boast in their own strength, and began to swear before the heavens that they would avenge themselves of the blood of their brethren who had been slain by their enemies.
10 And they did swear by the heavens, and also by the throne of God, that they would go up to battle against their enemies, and would cut them off from the face of the land.
11 And it came to pass that I, Mormon, did utterly refuse from this time forth to be a commander and a leader of this people, because of their wickedness and abomination.
(Book of Mormon | Mormon 3:7 - 11)
14 And when they had sworn by all that had been forbidden them by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that they would go up unto their enemies to battle, and avenge themselves of the blood of their brethren, behold the voice of the Lord came unto me, saying:
15 Vengeance is mine, and I will repay; and because this people repented not after I had delivered them, behold, they shall be cut off from the face of the earth.
16 And it came to pass that I utterly refused to go up against mine enemies; and I did even as the Lord had commanded me; and I did stand as an idle witness to manifest unto the world the things which I saw and heard, according to the manifestations of the Spirit which had testified of things to come.
(Book of Mormon | Mormon 3:14 - 16)
4 And it was because the armies of the Nephites went up unto the Lamanites that they began to be smitten; for were it not for that, the Lamanites could have had no power over them.
5 But, behold, the judgments of God will overtake the wicked; and it is by the wicked that the wicked are punished; for it is the wicked that stir up the hearts of the children of men unto bloodshed.
(Book of Mormon | Mormon 4:4 - 5)
After the decision of the Nephites to change their policy to one of Preemptive war, they were not supported by God anymore, and the Lamanites destroyed the Nephites, and the Lamanites who were not completely destroyed are the descendants of the American Indians.
All recent presidents and presidential candidates (with the noted exception of Ron Paul), including Mitt Romney, have admitted no problem committing our troops without a Congressional declaration, and they are ok with and passionate about us attacking nations that have not attacked us. This is not a matter of the people's voice being split on this matter... The vast, VAST majority of the American people are supportive of these policies -- democrat and republican alike. Mormon and non-mormon alike.
Our Constitution is hanging by threads. Our nation has shifted our war policy from one that gave protection to the Nephites, to one that caused the swift destruction of the entire Nephite nation.
Syria presents a particularly difficult problem for the U.S. Syria has been a state-sponsor of terrorism for 30+ years. If attacked, Syria will no doubt use whatever means available to them to defend themselves, INCLUDING TERRORISM, and multiple direct attacks against the U.S. people.. and the attacks won't stop because the U.S. won't stop. Once Syria uses terrorist attacks as a means to defend itself, the American people will back a bigger, more advanced war against nations all across the middle east. Banks and the military industrial complex will profit. The American people will suffer GREATLY because Syria is likely capable of bringing war and death to our doorstep in ways we cannot imagine. The attack on the World Trade Center represented a defensive strategy on the part of the proverbial Lamanites. (Read up on how the United States has invaded the Middle East and killed hundreds of thousands of civilians over the last 30+ years... and read up on WHY Al Queda says they attacked the World Trade Center. I'll give you a hint: It had nothing to do with the idiotic and insulting republican rhetoric that they "hate our freedoms").
I am proposing that a shift has occurred since those attacks. I am proposing that we might no longer be under the protection afforded to righteous nations by our Heavenly Father. I am proposing that if we do not repent, as a nation, that our destruction is imminent -- and the war against Syria presents an opportunity for that destruction to play out.
I believe those who support the actions of nations who invade or provoke war against other nations -- those who voted for the politicians (Bush, Obama, and others) who led and continue to lead these initiatives.. and those who verbally defend these horrific events will be held accountable before God.
This was an excellent post. Especially the discussion about us invading other countries that have not come upon us. It always amazes me the amount of LDS that say something like this..."maybe the Lord would have us go to these countries to "free" them from oppression so that they can hear the Gospel." Our Father in Heaven would NEVER have his Gospel carried forth to another nation or body of people through invasion and force. He does not work this way, this is not the concept of agency, but, that thought process the work of darkness instead. Hearing all of the chatter that is in the news from other nations, I do believe that what you said in this post could very much be true. Many are breaking away from the USA, they are angry, not willing to help us, sick of the arrogance and world police view points, along with the manipulation type tactics we try to enforce over their countries over things because of things like the petro dollar etc. because of our greed and thirst for power. In the end, we will have to pass through much sorrow, much trials and tribulations before we make it to the other side of this situation. Thankfully though, the Lord has promised that those who believe, try their best to keep the commandments, and are ready looking and watching for the day that the Lord will come, will not be deceived and qualify for the Lord's protection that he has promised. The scriptures say that we shall barely escape, but, that if we are prepared, we shall not fear. Yes...excellent post indeed!
ReplyDeleteNailed it again! Those of us in the Church who look outward for the "whore" miss the mark completely. A whore is a two-timer. Someone who made sacred promises with their master/king/husband/etc and then has broken them. The biggest "whores" of them all are those of who profess and take the Lord's name, but do so in vain. And those whores are right in our Church.
ReplyDeleteWe need to think of who in our lives would be considered the biggest whore. Without question, it would be our wives (or husbands, considering this from a woman's perspective). We are "married" to Christ. He is the bride-groom, we are the bride. Who's the biggest whore in that perspective? We are.
And members of our Church need to get that through their heads. WE are the whores. We swear deceitfully by making sacred promises in the Temple and then NOT keeping them. We keep asking God for things in the Temple, but no wonder we don't get answers. We haven't figured out that the key to "asking and receiving" is actually keeping our covenants, and keeping them RIGHT NOW... not "when the prophets ask us to" (thinking of the law of consecration). We are all whores when we make sacred covenants and don't keep them... When we walk out of the Temple and back into our Babylonian lifestyles without a second thought.
How are the sons of Levi (Moses and Aaron were levites. We become sons of Levi when we obtain the priesthood of Moses and Aaron, the Melch. and Aaronic priesthood) ever going to offer an acceptable offering unto the Lord if we don't keep our covenants but instead keep our whorish lifestyles? An offering from such a two-timing people will never be acceptable to God.
We promise to keep certain laws when we go through the Temple, such as the law of Chastity and Consecration. Will it do us any good to keep the law of Chastity "when the prophets tell us to"? No. We must keep it now. The law of Consecration isn't any different. Though the Church as a whole can't keep the law of Consecration in America right now (the government has stopped us every time we've tried), we can and must keep it individually. We have to actually help the poor and needy, not just promise to do so and instead build up our portfolios and our estates. Lipservice is cheap. All of God's true messengers "have sufficient for their needs", not a lavish lifestyle and then some. The excess in our lives shouldn't be squandered on things of Babylon but rather used in helping to build God's Kingdom. That's part of how we remove our "whore" status.
Truly the scriptures leave no room for guessing who will make it through the coming cataclysms - those who are FIRM, STEADFAST and IMMOVABLE in KEEPING the commandments. And even then, the Lord will say to them, "O all ye that are spared because ye were more righteous than they, will ye not now return unto me, and repent of your sins, and be converted, that I may heal you?"
Excellent post again, Eric!
You do realize that taking the Book of Mormon seriously and realizing that it is written to us (i.e., LDS who, by and large will be the only ones to ever read it) is what Denver's being summoned to a church court for.
ReplyDeleteHis book, Passing the Heavenly Gift is predicated on viewing the history of the Church through the lens of 3 Nephi 16 (esp. verse 10... Christ specifically delivering a message THE FATHER wanted us to have. Note the tense of the verbs!), D&C 124 (verse 28, the Lord is saying the fulness of what had been restored had already been lost again! verse 45 says if they do what the Lord is commanding ASAP they will not be removed out of their place [Nauvoo]). We know how that worked out...
Of course, the Lord chastens those he loves, so even our collective failings are evidence of God still striving with us.
I find it interesting that the 3rd generation since the restoration had largely passed away when President Benson re-iterated that the Church was still under condemnation (D&C 84:57).
Now the 4th generation has all but passed...
We certainly live in interesting times.
I think Denver wouldn't have gotten in trouble with persons unnamed in the COB or his Stake President if he had espoused a belief that all those warnings in the BoM were about non-members.
Really, Eric, you should read PtHG.
