This is something a friend of ours smuggled across the border for us and a bunch of other people in a bulk buy. Should be good for the plague along with yarrow.
Lots of steeping when the purple sores show up in the next couple of iterations:
Also known as Brigham or Mormon tea, ephedra nevadis is a non-stimulating ephedra plant (cousin to Ma Huang) that has been used since the dawn of time by the Native Americans in the western states.
It gained its nickname due to the fact that the natives in Utah and Nevada taught the Mormon pioneers how to use it...and they used it for all sorts of things!
Brigham Young was so impressed with the plant's versatility, he named it in a short list of herbs every person should know how to use in "the last days".
There have been no reported undesirable side effects when the plant is used in its wholesome state.
Brigham tea has been used for a wide variety of ailments, including: asthma, hay fever, and other allergies for the first stages of a cold or influenza, arthritis, fluid retention, coughs, malarial and other fevers, headaches, rheumatism, syphilis, boils, acne, a digestive tonic, and many others. Brigham tea has been historically used by frontiersmen to treat venereal diseases, such as syphilis and gonorrhea.
Brigham tea has an affinity to copper, so you'll often find it growing near the copper mines in Utah. But it does fine in most dryer climates and in depleted and compacted soil. You learn quickly that you can't plant Brigham tea in a planter in your house with potting soil. Instead, throw the seeds in the crappiest soil and water minimally. Sorta like lavender.
You can get seeds and growing instructions from Caleb Warnock!
To prepare it as a respiratory support:
Trim a handful of the plant's stems and chop into inch chunks. Place the pieces in a small sauce pan and cover with approximately 4 cups water. Simmer on stovetop (not in microwave!) for 10-15 minutes. Strain and drink the tea.
You can buy it from Western Botanicals in several forms. I often buy the powdered Brigham tea and make my own capsules.
