HOW TO SURVIVE NUCLEAR FALLOUT

I snagged this from Davedan on LDSFF and thought it was timely considering N. Korea has threatened to blow us to kingdom come, if we do not quit doing joint military exercises in their back yard.  It fits in with what I have read on surviving fallout in other articles:

protection against nuclear war:

1. dont live near a nuclear target (like Hill AFB which services ICBMs). Russia tested a 50MT nuclear bomb but found out you dont get much more bang for the buck over 10MT. However, researchers have found the most efficent bombs are to use multiple 1 MT independent warheads peppered over a target area.
2. gamma radiation (x-rays) are short-lived (2 weeks) and confined mainly to blast area.
3. gamma is difficult to protect against unless you have a underground bomb shelter, however, most gamma passes through you without interacting.
4. the best way to avoid gamma is to avoid living next to a nuclear target but then again, the blast and thermal effects of the bomb would get you first before the gamma did.
5. beta radiation (electrons) is harmful if inhaled, ingested or gets on your skin causing thermal beta-burns.
6. beta radiation is easily blocked by plastic and avoiding contamination (shelter in-place), inhalation (n95 mask), and ingestion (food and water storage).
7. radioactive iodine is a beta/gamma emitter, so providine-iodine painted in skin can protect thyroid by saturating thyroid with good iodine. Dont need to buy expensive KI pills.
8. alpha radiation (helium 2+ ions like super fluoride ions) are the most toxic form of radiation but only if inhaled or ingested. Alpha cannot penetrate skin or even paper and only a limied amount of air.
9. the best way to protect against alpha, like beta is to avoid contamination (shelter in-place), inhalation (n95 mask), and ingestion (food and water storage).
10. Using water storage and deep well water will avoid drinking contaminated water.
11. Cold-processed whey protein is cyesteine rich which increases glutathione in cells. Glutathione is the main antioxidant in cells which can protect against radiation toxicity.
12. Warning: Glutathione supplementation (like what Alex Jones sells) inhibits glutathione production.
13. Fallout will have washed away and and radiation levels will pretty much fallen off in 3 months time.

Other Points if you are close to a blast
14. Don't look at the fireball. The flash and fireball is giving off x-rays and UV causing blindness and corneal burns.
15. Wear natural fibers and white cotton underclothes. Synthetic fibers will immediately melt onto your skin. White will reflect thermal effects and prevent burns.
16. At the flash, you may have 10 seconds before the thermal wave and shockwave reach you. Basement of reinforced concrete building probably is best

Surviving the aftermath:
1. Do not engage invading Chinese and Russian troops. This is not the time to get patriotic. Job says the invading heathen armies will not "break their rank". If you want to save the Constitution you need to survive and not stand up in the way of an advancing army that has been planning their offensive strategy for decades.
2. Avoid conflicts with FEMA and HLS who will come to confiscate everything.
3. Avoid conflict with brigands, looters, and gangs.
4. Do not isolate yourself. you will be found. You can't fight looters off forever and there will be no-one to come to your rescue.
5. If you live outside of Utah, take all your remaining resources and head for a safely-located LDS Meetinghouse. Gather together with other surviving members and convert your meeting house into a redcross shelter.
6. Converting the LDS meetinghouse into a redcross shelter has many advantages:
a. maintains contact with LDS leadership, information, evacuation plan, and resources.
b. strength in numbers. Looters and gangs exhibit pack mentality and prey on the weak.
c. consecrating resources to the group avoids having to deal with a parade of beggers who come knocking at your door every day asking for a handout.
d. as a redcross shelter you hide in plain site against FEMA and, Chinese. FEMA won't have a basis for confiscating from a group because you dont have more than you need.
7. During the nuclear aftermath; the Earth will witness the most vile acts of violence, inhumanity and butality in its entire history. Having read books on China, they specifically warn just how inhumanly brutal the Chinese can be and have been in war. All those deplorable details at the end of the Book of Mormon are there for a reason. Unfortunately, just like the Nephites, I do not doubt many American's will not be out-done when it comes to taking revenge.
