When you delve into sexual immorality, pornography, illicit drugs or alcohol or other things which deaden your spirit, and grieve the Holy Spirit - this is often the result. My MIL was into much of this stuff and I could see the "snap change" in her when an entity would take control of her tabernacle after she was pretty much fully hedonistically engaged in evil (two decades ago). Not much different than what I witnessed in the gal who was possessed on my mission - whom we cast a spirit out of several times until we purged the house. Fascinating study, these things. Though, it is simply best to run the other way from it. The spiritual parasites tend to never leave once they attach themselves - and you can really have a "devil of a time" working to get rid of them.
thecatsstaff - 23 Hours AgoI did an internship with a drug rehab when I was in school. Many, if not all, of the clients had evil spirits with them. When I ran the group sessions, I would put my elbow on my arm rest (think raise my arm to the square ish) & cast the evil out by saying silently, in the name of Jesus Christ, I command all evil spirits to leave & not come back! Within a few seconds you could feel a difference in the room. Many clients looked startled & scared because they're little "friends" were gone
Here is a past blog post that touches on the subject:

I also had the opportunity to cast out evil spirits while on my mission in Brazil, on a few occasions. After the first time, I tried to find what information I could to learn more about how to go about the process of casting out evil spirits. The Church doesn't really have a set procedure. I spoke with a church leader who said not to have conversation with them, and to remain worthy. The name of Christ carries power. On one occasion, my companion and I cast out a host of evil spirits from a young man. It was just as effective to speak in English as it was to speak in Portuguese, because spirits can understand all languages. One thing I later learned was that by explicitly commanding the evil spirit to outer darkness, that spirit can no longer torment man. I'm not 100% on that, but it makes sense. Scary stuff, but it solidified my testimony of the power of the priesthood.
ReplyDeleteThere is an LDS author who writes about this, one problem with todays world is even the Elders in the church seem to scoff at casting out spirits, they go along with the world, its just all in your head. I wish they would do this more and it might clean up the world!
ReplyDeleteWho is the author? I have had experiences with rebuking evil spirits, of necessity. And what Joseph Smith explained, about how he felt powerless to speak, and felt about to be overcome is true. Even barely an audible whisper of the name of Jesus Christ and the evil spirit departs and the darkness with them. They truly have NO light in them. I wish more men would understand the Priesthood power. If they did, perhaps they would carry themselves differently. I had a Bishop, years ago who gave a friend of mine, a blessing. Her ex-husband's mother was very big into vodoo (from Guyana). My friend was terrified of her ex. She knew he was looking for her and it was only a matter of time. I convinced her to get a blessing. We spoke to the Bishop and he immediately pulled the last remaining Elders in the building to give her a blessing. Those poor missionaries had no clue. Wow, were they ever surprised when the bishop blessed her, telling her not to fear, that all she had to do was to rebuke the evil and it would "wither and die!"; and even if it was on the phone. Do any of us truly realize the goodness of God? I love my Savior and my Father in Heaven.
DeleteThanks for this post. I deal with youth would are possessed with evil spirits all the time and had not considered casting out the spirits anonymously. Last week I instructed one girl how to command in the savior's name because she was hearing voices.
