AARON'S WALKING STICK WAS NOT THERE

This is interesting.  The Rod of Aaron was in possession of Oliver Cowdery and Brigham Young.  When Brigham Young thrust his "walking stick" or "cane" into the ground to declare the location of the SL Temple, it was the Rod of Aaron, referred in the D&C as the "Gift of Aaron":
