Here is a quick synopsis of how things go down (according to my somewhat revised timeline):
- 3.5 years of relatively nothing going on in Israel (check - we just ended that phase with our Nobel Peace Prize man, BHO at the helm)
- 3.5 years of badness, aka Tribulation where Israel (including USA) gets rocked (just started IMHO) and Christ comes to save the Jews at the end there (right around the 50th Jubilee where all the captives are set free and a portion of the First Resurrection occurs as part of that) and there is some kind of redemption in the USA by Christ, as well. Rome is destroyed at the end of that. Still wondering how they are going to build the 3rd Temple during all of this mess.....
- 0.5 hour of silence in the heavens (21.5 years of relative calm after getting our world got rocked from the heavens during the previous tribulation period) while the people who remain are gathered to the New Jerusalem and that city is built, etc.
- A period of badness right around 2036 (my guess, as its around 21.5 years after the 50th, 50th Jubilee - just as I had always surmised) when the New Jerusalem is picked up and the fire sweeping action takes place (what people traditionally think of the Second Coming with fire and all the nasty stuff). That has to be related to some kind of coronal mass ejection on a colossal order. It will be intense!

ReplyDeleteIf we are looking at the Book of Mormon as a repeat of what is happening today, I think we are still a little ways away from destruction described in 3 Nephi 8.
I think that we are in borderline Helaman 16 3 Nephi 1 (with the signs in the heavens--I think this could be Ison, Panstarrs, all the comets, plus the blood moons) and the starting of destruction happens shortly afterwards (3 Nephi 2-4 when the Gadiantons threaten the Nephites with absolute destruction.
Then there will be a small period of peace (3 Nephi 5) before even bigger combinations form (this could be Gog Magog in the Old World plus the destruction of the prophets in Jerusalem) (3 Nephi 6-7)
Then comes the destruction of the wicked as Israel will be marveling at the destruction in the valley of Hamongog and take 7 years cleaning up the corpses of the wicked...that could be 3 Nephi 9-10
Followed by the glorious reign of the Savior. I could explain more if you wish.

Alma 17-26 Ammon and the sons of Mosiah preach to the Lamanites--EXPANSION OF MISSIONARY WORK TO EUROPE AND OTHER PLACES. MEXICO, OTHER LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES GRANTED RELIGIOUS FREEDOM.
Alma 27-29 Lamanites make war with the people of Ammon and are defeated. US MEXICAN WAR
Alma 30-41 Alma and sons preach to the Zoramites, who have apostatatized from the faith. EFFORTS OF LDS TO RECLAIM APOSTATES. SOME COME BACK TO THE TRUTH OTHERS REMAIN APOSTATE AND EVEN WORSE JOIN GOVERNMENT EFFORTS AGAINST THE LDS.
Alma 42-61 Long war between the Nephites and Lamanites. Characters such as Captain Moroni and his lieutenants are key in this part. US CIVIL WAR. I IDENTIFY ABE LINCOLN WITH MORONI IN THIS CASE.
Alma 62-63 Reconstruction of the lands after the long war. Moroni dies due to unknown causes. LINCOLN ASSASSINATED, RECONSTRUCTION.
Helaman 1 First secret combinations form, leaders assassinated, invasion of Lamanites. LINCOLN ASSASSINATED BY SECRET COMBOS, FORMATION OF TAMMANY HALL WHICH IS A CORRUPT POLITICAL ORGANIZATION. FORMATION OF THE BOHEMIAN GROVE ORGANIZATION, WHO MIGHT HAVE BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATH OF PRESIDENT WOODRUFF.

Helaman 8-9 Intrigue and assassination of another official by the Gadianton Robbers. JFK, MLK, RFK ASSASSINATIONS 1960s.
Helaman 10-12: Nephi: Repent or Perish part two. War replaced by famine and many starve and die. Man's nothingness compared with God. VIETNAM WAR FOLLOWED BY 1970S ECONOMIC MALAISE.
Helaman 13-16: Samuel the Lamanite warns the Nephites to repent or perish, as well. Also shows signs of Christ's birth and death. REPEATED MESSAGES BY LDS PROPHETS FROM THE 60s TO TODAY. SOME ARE BAPTIZED, MOST REJECT THE MESSAGE.

AT THIS TIME ALSO, I WOULD EXPECT JERUSALEM TO OPEN UP TO THE PREACHING OF THE GOSPEL; TWO PROPHETS WOULD BE SENT OUT AT THIS TIME. 2020-2024?
3 Nephi 6: Wickedness returns and a bigger combination forms to destroy the people of God. THIS COULD BE THE NATIONS OF GOG AND MAGOG AS SHOWN IN EZEKIEL AND REVELATION. THE PROPHETS WILL BE PREACHING REPENTANCE ONE FINAL TIME. THOSE IN THE OLD WORLD IF THEY WANT PEACE WOULD BE FLEEING TO ZION. MID 2020s?
3 Nephi 7: Murder of the chief judge. Chaos forms among the Nephites as they split up into tribes. THIS COULD BE THE PROPHETS BEING SLAIN IN JERUSALEM BY THE A/C. JERUSALEM IS AT THIS TIME UNDER SIEGE.
3 Nephi 8: Destruction of the land. THIS COULD BE THE BATTLE OF ARMAGEDDON WHERE GOG AND MAGOG WILL BE SLAIN. ISRAEL WILL BE CLEANING UP THE AREA FOR MANY YEARS IN WHAT WILL BE KNOWN AS THE VALLEY OF HAMONGOG. late 2020s?
3 Nephi 9-10: Nephites marvel at what has happened during the destruction, lament the loss of their friends who were wicked. LAMENTATIONS OF THE PEOPLE FOR THE LOSS OF THEIR FRIENDS; CLEANUP AT HAMONGOG early 2030s?
3 Nephi 11 Christ descends upon the Nephites and preaches His Gospel. CHRIST DESCENDS ON JERUSALEM TO SAVE HIS PEOPLE; MILLENIUM BEGINS, TRIBES OF ISRAEL GET THEIR LANDS PARCELED OUT. early to mid 2030s?
