The Chinese were not godless, like many of us assume:

I know that Joseph Smith taught that Noah was the first leader of the first dynasty in China where he eventually settled with his one son and family, Japheth - after he left the area of Turkey.
I am in the middle of a massively awesome phase in my life, so the blog will be spotty for the next four weeks, or so as I transition.
THIS BLOG ATTEMPTS TO SHOW HOW SCIENCE IS CATCHING UP WITH REVEALED RELIGION
THIS BLOG IS AN ATTEMPT TO PUT ALL THE COOL STUFF THAT I BUMP INTO ABOUT THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST AND EVENTS THAT LEAD UP TO IT INTO ONE LOCATION.
THE CONTENTS WILL BE FROM AN LDS PERSPECTIVE. IF YOU DISAGREE WITH ANYTHING IN HERE, I DO NOT PARTICULARLY CARE TO ARGUE, UNLESS YOU CAN ADD TO THIS BODY OF WORK. I HAVE AN OPEN MIND, THAT IS WHY I READ STUFF FROM ALL DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES AND SEEK LEARNING FROM THE BEST BOOKS. I JUST AM NOT HERE TO ARGUE ABOUT IT - BUT TO PUT IT OUT THERE WHERE OTHERS CAN PERUSE/PURSUE IT. I TAKE PARTICULAR INTEREST IN HONEST SEEKERS OF TRUTH AND BELIEVE THAT SCIENCE IS REVEALED RELIGION'S BEST ALLY. YOU WILL SEE ALOT OF TOPICS IN THIS BLOG THAT SHOW SCIENCE BACKING - AND SLOWLY CATCHING UP WITH - REVEALED RELIGION.
ENJOY!!

ReplyDeleteCurious about the Joseph Smith quote. Do you have a source? I am not doubting you, but would like to explore it further. I'm intrigued. Love the blog!
ReplyDeleteMy wife is Chinese and she always mentions the similarities of the painting of the head and side posts of the entrances with lambs blood in the Ten Commandments; how they remind her if the entrances of Chinese homes have the red paint on the side posts and head. Godless comment comes from 19th century English culture encountering the Orient. The Chinese I have the most respect for, of all cultures of the earth. They are traditionally conservative - at least as long as they have not been too contaminated by either Communism or western decadence. My wife's father, who died early had three wives. My wife's Catholic sister doesn't want to speak of it. The first wife he took was someone he took in to provide for, the second he had only one daughter and her mother had four children. Those who had more were able to provide for others. Polygamy may have been one of the main reasons why they were called Godless. Ironically, monogamy, I consider to be more of the Greek - Roman cultures influence upon Christianity.
