Okay, when it comes to the gift of prophecy, I have my last dispensation favorites in order of who I pay attention to:
- Joseph Smith
- Heber C Kimball
- John Koyle
- Successive church presidents, based on manifested gifts, such as instituting home worship and many other things that are random, but make sense later.
I just met a most magnificent specimen in a woman last night who is filled with the gift of prophecy. A convert to the church of around 20 years and part French and, very interestingly, of Mi'kmaq blood. They are arguably some of the most solid blood of the house of Israel in America based on their language (written and spoken) and their oral history. Even over the Tribes of the Great Lakes area. She has a confidence that only the Spirit can imbue when preaching and ministering among those in our group. She is also an outcast in her ward and town. People are intimidated by her - the very ones that could learn from her. She sees what is coming - and has not read VoG completely because it rang so true to what she has been given. I would that all men/women were prophets! The vibrancy of the Lord's church would return, and our drinking problem would resolve itself!
So, Heber said that after Brigham died, there would be a period of time where there would be no Prophet for three years from 1877 to 1880. And then one would be raised up who would be an "outsider" and would not come through the normal channels. Who was that? If that were the case, there was that fizzled movement in 1890 wherein a lamanite prophet came among the lamanites and restored what appears to be the endowment to them in the early 1870's?
This is all quite fascinating - and I still have not made sense of it, just as I have not entirely made sense of what happened in 2017, based on clear patterns. I trust the statements of Heber C Kimball, just I will just put this in my craw and keep on keepin on until I find the gem in this hard rock mine of information....
Social unrest, embarrassing government/political scandals, leaks and a quickening of economic decline will begin this month (June 2021). If you haven't prepared, it might be too late! If you are in the stock market, sell now. Soon mass layoffs, inflation and bare shelves will be the prevailing scene across the USA and Europe. The crumbling economy begets more social unrest. Rolling blackouts and brownouts put people on edge. People starving. As countries (mainly Western) start to struggle to control their people; war will come next. Avoid the east and west coasts. The depression and war wound all americans, and the globalist elite. To most it will be years of rot and decline. those who know how Christ is quick to forgive will rebound and cary light and lead a fresh start. many people move to rural areas and form communities. those who embrace Christ witness things that cannot be said. no matter how dark--you can have light. those who have this light must lead no matter how weak you think you are.
ReplyDeleteI am not saying there is not the gift of prophecy today amongst the leaders of the church. I am proposing that there could be more than one way that the church finds out its information and how it will proact. And I don't want to spell it out here exactly, but I will allude to it using a scripture from the Book of Mormon and say that this may or could be another means by which information is achieved. My husband nay-says this and his reason is pretty good as well, I believe, so I really do not know, of course.
ReplyDeleteHelaman 2:2-12
2 And it came to pass that Helaman, who was the son of Helaman, was appointed to fill the judgment-seat, by the voice of the people.
3 But behold, Kishkumen, who had murdered Pahoran, did lay wait to destroy Helaman also; and he was upheld by his band, who had entered into a covenant that no one should know his wickedness.
4 For there was one Gadianton, who was exceedingly expert in many words, and also in his craft, to carry on the secret work of murder and of robbery; therefore he became the leader of the band of Kishkumen.
5 Therefore he did flatter them, and also Kishkumen, that if they would place him in the judgment-seat he would grant unto those who belonged to his band that they should be placed in power and authority among the people; therefore Kishkumen sought to destroy Helaman.
6 And it came to pass as he went forth towards the judgment-seat to destroy Helaman, behold one of the servants of Helaman, having been out by night, and having obtained, through disguise, a knowledge of those plans which had been laid by this band to destroy Helaman—
7 And it came to pass that he met Kishkumen, and he gave unto him a sign; therefore Kishkumen made known unto him the object of his desire, desiring that he would conduct him to the judgment-seat that he might murder Helaman.
8 And when the servant of Helaman had known all the heart of Kishkumen, and how that it was his object to murder, and also that it was the object of all those who belonged to his band to murder, and to rob, and to gain power, (and this was their secret plan, and their combination) the servant of Helaman said unto Kishkumen: Let us go forth unto the judgment-seat.
9 Now this did please Kishkumen exceedingly, for he did suppose that he should accomplish his design; but behold, the servant of Helaman, as they were going forth unto the judgment-seat, did stab Kishkumen even to the heart, that he fell dead without a groan. And he ran and told Helaman all the things which he had seen, and heard, and done.
10 And it came to pass that Helaman did send forth to take this band of robbers and secret murderers, that they might be executed according to the law.
11 But behold, when Gadianton had found that Kishkumen did not return he feared lest that he should be destroyed; therefore he caused that his band should follow him. And they took their flight out of the land, by a secret way, into the wilderness; and thus when Helaman sent forth to take them they could nowhere be found.
12 And more of this Gadianton shall be spoken hereafter.
