This topic came up in GD on Sunday. I could not bring myself to tell the people the truth. No one wants to hear it. It is too hard to think of being de-linked from Babylon:

One of the best collection of quotes on Walker Lake and the Indian Messiah. 1890 was a pivotal year when our birthright was sold for a mess of pottage and it will be given to another, just as we see over in Israel with the mess over there.
Time will show this narrative to be correct.
I have been pondering for quite sometime about the story of the Prophet Jeremiah who was late to offer a sacrifice for the Lords support of a battle about take place, King Saul got tired of waiting and offered the sacrifice himself. The battle went badly, Jeremiah chided Saul and told him it is better to obey than to sacrifice. Have we or the Church thought to follow their own reasoning, has sacrifice been substituted for obedience.
ReplyDeleteThe Edmunds Tucker act was clearly unconstitutional taking church property away or else cease polygamy. The church obeyed the laws of the land, no matter how corrupt they were. What more corrupt laws will we accept and obey? Was the church wrong in obeying a perverted law?
Social pressure has a power to sway. Did the apostles believe firmly in this new revelation? We are not perfect people and easily bow to pressures of those we trust. I really don't know. It would be interesting to see what would have happened if the church held on against the feds. I wouldn't doubt that government would come crashing down upon us. It would be interesting to see what would happen to this nation if the Temples and Churches were take away and the Saints abused.
There may be bigger fish to fry than polygamy.
