THE FALSE TRADITIONS OF MEN - CUMORAH

I find myself pretty frustrated at those who have not thrown the scholars to the curb who have peddled the ridiculous notion of two Cumorahs, etc.  I grew up on that garbage - and thankfully, before I have passed from this sphere, found the truth of what Joseph and other earlies have had to say on the matter.

Thanks be to Ron May and others who have turned the tide against the pharisaical intellectuals in the Church who peddle the garbage....

If I had the power, I would damn them to hell to the measure that they have damned others who have read their tripe and followed it down the primrose path.  There will be a general accounting in all things.

To be sure, a generation of vipers SHALL NOT escape the damnations of hell (until they repent).  The writhing pit of snakes is as full today as it was in the days of Christ.  I am quite confident if the Savior were to return today, a great portion of the Church would demand that He be snuffed due to His "radical" views as things were set in order once again.

May I remind you again of Joseph's last dream:

The general membership of the Church is in great apostasy.  Thus the reason we have to talk of certain topics in hushed tones....  Thus the reason we will be purged first as a Church and then as a nation.  We have all gone astray - and after the things of the world.....

  1. Iraq, you know me pretty well. I agree with you about 90 percent of the time. But I do need to let you know a few things about what makes those scholars tick.

Mesoamerica has long been considered as the Promised land for the following reasons:

    1. The only area (known as such for many years) with a writing system dating back to Book of Mormon times.

    2. Strong legends of a white God among them that have stood the test of time.

    3. A setup of kings and sub-kings under the kings among the Maya.

    4. Lack of snow mentioned in the Book of Mormon as well as the heat of the day being mentioned, most of the climate being sub tropical to tropical with a Mediterranean type climate at Lehi's landing point.

    5. Destruction of 3 Nephi 8 consistent with volcanic eruptions (Meso is full of them as is South America)

    6. 36 years from the final battles to Moroni burying the plates in Cumorah NY. It took Karl Bushby eight years to walk up from Punta Arenas Chile up to the Bering Straits.

    7. Ether 15:11 though it doesn't distinctly say two Cumorahs, seems to imply it, where it says where Mormon hid the records, and Moroni later on doesn't imply that he is burying the records at the same spot where his father Mormon hid them. One Cumorah is likewise strongly implied, with both Mormon and Moroni burying the plates at a place called Cumorah.

Now the Church came out with a couple of essays on Book of Mormon Geography where they did say that people should not be advocating for one theory at the expense of other theories and to focus on the Book of Mormon's true message of salvation.

Though we can all have our opinions on where everything happened, as long as it is in the Americas. North America, cool. Meso America, cool. South America, cool. Central America (between Meso and South), cool. Malay, not so cool (given that you are outside the Americas).

Personally I used to be strong Meso until I saw more evidences further south. North America is kind of intriguing but some of the methods used to back the theory have been, in my mind, questionable.

  3. I agree with the comments of the 1st anonymous. Most of all the events make sense in Central America up to Christ's arrival. Afterwards it appears that the events took place in North America. No more narrow neck of land mentioned. As far as Joseph S. locating Zarahemla across from Nauvoo, it is possible that they could have named an important city the same as the one in the south, which would be quite common among humanity.

The events, wars and such that take place in the preChrist period occur in relatively short distances, a week or two to travel most of the cities of the Nephites.
The distances in North America would take months instead of a few days or a week to traverse.

As far as the time line established by science, I consider to be accurate within a thousand years. I have so very little respect for the scientific community who massage information to justify whatever course of events they want to establish.

All the links above do nothing to shine any light of proof. Distances are way too far away to have any linkage with preChrist events.

Remember Hagoth built ships Before Christ and set sail out in the Pacific, did he travel over two thousand miles just to build ships and travel in pacific and to the North, many of these details just don't add up.

The land in Central American was too constricted, Some logically traveled north by ship because it was easier than traveling long distances over the rough terrain of the land to find somewhere settle.

In the B of M before Christ's arrival, mentions cites that were sunk in the ocean that have been found and photographed off shore in Central America. Thank You
