NEW AGE LIES

If you love Oprah and so many other faithless practitioners, this is for you (thanks to Heather at Awaken):

We probably all know people like this, who solely rely on themselves and lack humility to rely on God or even acknowledge that their success is largely because of Him. If one is successful, but lacks faith, love, and charity, that success will probably be short lived and void of true joy. Big picture thinking can help us see that the cycle of the Book of Mormon teaches just how necessary humility and service are in how we should live our lives.
"Korihor would have us believe, like some authors of modern “success” books, that the solutions to our problems lie in sharp thinking and realistic approaches to life. But such persons define success in terms of wealth, social status, political power, and the glutting of the senses; and, as the servants of Christ know, if selfish attainments are one’s goal, the world is so constructed that one can indeed ignore the Savior and attain. But Korihor and his fellow humanists think that they are masterfully doing it on their own, not realizing that those who succeed at the expense of faith and love are on a down escalator and are being carefully guided, encouraged, aided, and comforted by their unseen mentor Satan. Their glorying in their own strength and accomplishments is a tribute to the cleverness of Satan, that devil who greases the sluiceway of sin."

  3. I personally think that this type of secular humanism is the type of harlot that Alma the Younger was reproving Corianton about in Alma 39. Despite the non scriptural editorial comments that act as a chapter synopsis. Jezebel, in my opinion was probably more of a Opra type than a high priced call girl. Yes, sex outside of marriage is wrong - but that seems to be more of a symptom than a cause. The real evil is pride and forsaking the ministry.
