MORE HEAVY HITTERS CHIMING IN ON JTR AS TOM&S

This is a great comment and seems to back up what my scriptorian buddy has to say on the matter:

Avraham Gileadi has spoken much about the Davidic servant, and has written extensively about why is cannot be Joseph Smith...one reason (there are many) is that the servant is marred, and must be healed by the Lord. If Joseph were to return, he would be a resurrected being, and cannot be marred in the flesh. Dr. Gileadi gives quite a few other reasons as to why Joseph does not fit the scriptural identifiers, and they seem airtight. Micheal Rush, who has delved heavily into Isaiah, Daniel and Revelations, also believes it is John the Beloved. He seems to fit the identifiers....

I am excited to present the scriptural bunny trail my friend showed me.  My wife, however, had some concerns with the narrative, so I need to get those from her and hash this all over.  I am confident that the narrative is good, unless she can show my otherwise.

  1. Appreciate your thoughts and look forward to getting more info. Some thoughts to consider. Joseph was marred and many times healed in the flesh. So you could say that part of the scripture has been fulfilled if you choose to look at it that way. Also using the same logic as to why it cant be Joseph you could also say the same thing about John. He has been translated, he cannot be hurt and then healed also. Remember they tried already to boil him to death on the isle of Patmos I think it was. So in my opinion it must be a mortal man if you use the logic of a healing needs to happen while he is in his service...... Which means the likely candidate is Spencer. Which he ends up in some horrible situation that are not in the book where he does get marred and beat and also suffers greatly from the small pox...... I am not even convinced there is a Davidic servant, but if there is i say first spencer and if not him Joseph..... But i look forward to seeing the info you have. But i think logically the same argument could be made that both john and Joseph cant be hurt and in genuine need of healing.

  2. I know everybody wants one of these great prophets from the past to come in and Save the Day. But scripturally the Book of Mormon teaches us that we have a set. Of time that we are allowed to do work on Earth. Then it's over. And we are going to be judged on that work. The only exceptions are those that are like the three Nephites and John the Revelator. But I think the davidic servant in my own personal View is going to be someone is that is worn recently and whom the majority of the LDS church despise. Because he will be rejected by his own house in my opinion. This topic is an exciting topic to discuss and go round and round about. It will be awesome to find out who it is in the end.

  3. It’s not a John. Show me a pattern where that fits. The work of salvation in a generation among mortals is fine by a mortal. John and the 3 Nephites minister to other mortal servants like Mormon and Moroni—who then minister to the rest of us. John has a work—but it isn’t as the promised servant mighty and strong setting in order the house of God.

  4. I'm gonna put an end to all of this speculation and give it to you straight. TOM&S can be no other than Mittens Romney. There! Wonder no more! :)
