I would love to walk these tunnels. There is a rising debate as to where the original temple was located. I do not buy the arguments that it was anywhere othr than where the Dome of the Rock is now located.

As I understand, The Romans removed any and all evidence of where the temple was - even the Temple Mount. I tend to buy the argument the Temple being below the so called Temple mount in the City of David. The Temple mount is the obvious fort, the Romans had built to provide enough space for the large number of soldiers and support services. The Citidel was far too small to house the soldiers, most likely the officers and their support services.
