A SCRIPTURAL BASIS FOR A CALLOUT

There is some discussion going on in a FB group about scriptural basis for a callout.  For me, there is none as many pose the scenario; and there is ample argument/precedent for it according to other scenarios.

I thought it was awesome to get this from a faithful gal of Lamanitish background who posted this scripture.  Kind of clear as day, if you ask me:

2 O all ye that are pure in heart, lift up your heads and receive the pleasing word of God, and feast upon his love; for ye may, if your minds are firm, forever.
3 But, wo, wo, unto you that are not pure in heart, that are filthy this day before God; for except ye repent the land is cursed for your sakes; and the Lamanites, which are not filthy like unto you, nevertheless they are cursed with a sore cursing, shall scourge you even unto destruction.
4 And the time speedily cometh, that except ye repent they shall possess the land of your inheritance, and the Lord God will lead away the righteous out from among you.
5 Behold, the Lamanites your brethren, whom ye hate because of their filthiness and the cursing which hath come upon their skins, are more righteous than you; for they have not forgotten the commandment of the Lord, which was given unto our father—that they should have save it were one wife, and concubines they should have none, and there should not be whoredoms committed among them.
6 And now, this commandment they observe to keep; wherefore, because of this observance, in keeping this commandment, the Lord God will not destroy them, but will be merciful unto them; and one day they shall become a blessed people.
7 Behold, their husbands love their wives, and their wives love their husbands; and their husbands and their wives love their children; and their unbelief and their hatred towards you is because of the iniquity of their fathers; wherefore, how much better are you than they, in the sight of your great Creator?

This is specifically foreshadowing what will happen when a remnant goes among the unrighteous Gentiles and tears to pieces.

Micah 5:8

8 And the aremnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a blion among the beasts of the forest, as a young clion among the flocks of dsheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.

3 Nephi 20:16

16 Then shall ye, who are a aremnant of the house of Jacob, go forth among them; and ye shall be in the midst of them who shall be many; and ye shall be among them as a lion among the beasts of the forest, and as a young blion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he goeth through both ctreadeth down and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.

3 Nephi 21:12

12 And my people who are a remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles, yea, in the midst of them as a alion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he go through both treadeth down and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.

  1. I do not believe in a "Julie Rowe" call out, and I do not think this scripture in any way supports that. We know a group will be called out to build the New Jerusalem. The saints were called out of Missouri to Utah, and by doing missed a lot of the ravages of the Civil War. The righteous are usually given an escape plan. I just don't think staying in tents at Girls Camps with a years supply of food storage as a required admission ticket is any part of that.

  2. I agree that a "Julie Rowe" callout is not true. However, the saints were driven out of their promised land because of iniquity (failing to complete the temple, etc). It was not a callout. Lehi was called out, how? by personal revelation. I am fairly confident that President Monson will not be organizing a literal gathering. So far as I currently understand, the Davidic servant and other end time servants will be part of the great and marvelous work (yet to come) -
the last great gathering that will occur at the time of the tribulations. Tho I always reserve the right to change my mind in light of greater understanding!
