This is interesting - and possibly a test scenario for the mark of the beast on a world-wide scale. I believe there is a spiritual mark and a physical mark. Spencer spoke of the spiritual mark - which does exist. When food is rationed, you will be required to have a chip in order to feed your family. It will be sold as a way to avoid people hoarding and coming into other lines, etc. And to control the black market that inevitably springs up in the vacuum of normal market conditions.
