COMPLETE SELFLESSNESS - A KEY INGREDIENT OF THE MILLENNIUM

I know people that have become very greedy/self-centered as they get older because they have lost their focus on the Savior and the sole purpose in life is to serve their own interests.  They have few friends and no loyalty in their personal relationships because they have lost their "magnanimity of spirit"; or in other words, they have not lost themselves in the service of others, so they have not found the Lord.

This is a critical thing to get right in this short probationary period.  We need to learn to lose ourselves in our marriages, our friendships and our relationship to our ancestors (genealogy) and in our relationship to God, by seeking to serve as Christ served.  When we lose that largeness of spirit, we shrink within ourselves and we spiritually atrophy.  When we serve others and obey God, we flex our spiritual muscle and this activity enlarges us.

This is why we have things like the Law of Tithes and Offerings - where we can learn the basics of giving - even when in our extremity - and we can flex that spiritual muscle that may have gotten flabby.  Looking outside ourselves, enlarges and magnifies our souls.

Here is a great meme from FB that illustrates this principle:

  1. "Living for each other" is the rule of God, not Nature. God, THE ONE Who deserves all of our gratitude, love, devotion, and service. Nature is evidence of His love for us. The One who lets us know He's still around by putting roses on the thorns and pretty purple flowers on the thistles. And let us all bow our heads and really give Him thanks that spiders don't fly. He can change that minor detail anytime He likes ya know?

So let's all repent and be good. The only thing is that many refuse His love because He is a constant reminder that their sins are not accepted by Him. Mean people suck and I long for the day when He says, "time is up", no more mean people tainting and polluting and making things miserable for those of us who do love God, reverence Him as the Creator, and long for a world of associations with those who feel the same way. No mind to injure one another and no desire for evil.

All creatures of our God and King lift up your voice and with us sing, HalleluYAH!
