A few weeks ago, I was riding the ferry across Puget Sound and found myself staring at an awesome rainbow. I had to remind myself of one thing - and I will gladly do the same.
Every good LDS person is aware of one sign that the head of our dispensation has brought to our attention; there will be no rainbows within one year of the Lord's coming. And so many of us will be caught with our proverbial pants down around our ankles when we need them around our waists - so we can run like mad with the rest of those who have had their heads in the sand for so long.
Here is a great question in the comments section:
If it is the year then please explain the giant double RAINBOWS over DC this last week.
May I remind you that we are already in the middle of the Coming of the Son of Man. He has been at the Sacred Grove to kick off the party, in Kirtland for the birthday bash and there are probably a few other appearances thrown in there. Possibly one in Nevada to kick off another missed milestone by the Gentiles (still need more info on this one) - and others, I am sure. The next milestone I am aware of is a visit to Jerusalem (I make the claim will happen on the Feast of Succoth (Wedding) this coming fall on the 50th, 50th Jubilee year). This is not even the biggest one - by far - unless you happen to be Jewish and are about to be expunged from the historical record by some angry Russians and "kings of the East". Then you most likely next have the visit to AoA and then the habitation/visits to the NJ while the chaos is going on all around the world and the people are gathering out.
AND THEN
You have the grand finale; the NJ being caught up into the air (now the LDS doctrine can marry up with the pop Christian cultural doctrine of the rapture) and it coming down with the City of Enoch after the earth is generally cleansed by fire. Count backwards from that particular event - and you have your year without a rainbow - along with the climatological changes, etc.
The irony of the whole thing being that I expect few, if any of the "rainbow people" left after this event. I expect quite few people period making it that far. Now is the time to get right with the Lord. Delay, quite frankly, is pure folly.
If you happen to live in the DC area - now is a great time to contact a realtor and turn tail. I expect that place to become a smoking pile and habitation of owls, rats and other foul/fowl creatures as part of the Great Feast of the Gods with the main course being in Jerusalem.
You are welcome.
"Thus, clearly, the Lord has placed the responsibility for directing the work of gathering in the hands of the leaders of the Church to whom he will reveal his will where and when such gatherings would take place in the future. It would be well before the frightening events concerning the fulfillment of all God's promises and predictions are upon us, that the Saints in every land prepare themselves and look forward to the instruction that shall come to them from the First Presidency of this Church as to where they shall be gathered and not be disturbed in their feelings until such instruction is given to them as it is revealed by the Lord to the proper authority."
ReplyDelete--Harold B. Lee Conference Report, April 1948.
“Before the Lord destroyed the old world, he directed Noah to prepare an ark; before the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed, he told Lot to “Flee to the mountains” before Jerusalem was destroyed, Jesus gave his disciples warning, and told them to “flee out of it;” and before the destruction of the world a message is sent; after this, the nations will be judged, for God is now preparing his own kingdom for his own reign, and will not be thwarted by any conflicting influence, or opposing power… The whole world is in confusion, morally, politically, and religiously; but a voice was to be heard, “Come out of her, my people, that you partake not of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” John Taylor, The Government of God Gerald N. Lund, The Coming of the Lord [Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1971], 85.
ReplyDelete…And the Lord Jesus will appear and show Himself unto His servants in His temple in holy places, to counsel and instruct and direct. He will appear in the glory of His Father, in His resurrected body, among those who can endure His presence and glory. And all this I expect long before He will waste away and destroy the wicked from off the face of the earth (Erastus Snow, Journal Discourses, Volume 25:34)
ReplyDeleteI do not know but that it would be an utter impossibility to commence and carry out some principles pertaining to Zion right in the midst of this people. They have strayed so far that to get a people who would conform to heavenly laws, it may be needed to lead some from the midst of this people and commence anew somewhere in the regions round about these mountains. Orson Pratt, Journal of Discourses 15:36
ReplyDelete“The United States will spend her strength and means warring in foreign lands until other nations will say, “Let’s divide up the lands of the United States”, then the people of the U.S. will unite and swear by the blood of their fore-fathers, that the land shall not be divided. Then the country will go to war, and they will fight until one have of the U.S. army will give up, and the rest will continue to struggle. They will keep on until they are very ragged and discouraged, and almost ready to give up – when the boys from the mountains will rush forth in time to save the American Army from defeat and ruin. And they will say, “Brethren, we are glad you have come; give us men, henceforth, who can talk with God’. Then you will have friends but you will save the country when its liberty hangs by a hair, as it were.” Joseph Smith, Mosiah Hancock Autobiography, BYU Special Collections, pg 28.
ReplyDeleteLay up your stores, and take your silks and fine things, and exchange them for grain and such things as you need, and the time will come when we will be obliged to depend upon our own resources; for the time is not far distant when the curtain will be dropped between us and the United States. When the time comes, brethren and sisters, you will wish you had commenced sooner to make your own clothing. I tell you, God requires us to go into home manufacture; and prolong, it as much as you like, you have got to do it (Heber C Kimball, Journal of Discourses Vol. 5:10)
ReplyDeleteWhat about the 5 month, 18 month and 3.5 years of wars? Julie Rowe said these haven't even occurred yet.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like someone must be off on timing?
Julie said that tribulations start when we see some major collapse (but not full) of the stock market along with a earthquake in Utah. That is the starting point and the 7 years of tribulation begin - with it more earthquakes, plagues, droughts, famine, wars, and the such. They keep happening and increasing until it seems like everyone is getting hit with something everywhere.
My own take but it seems like once we are called out to places of safety we will be there for several years and maybe even 3-5 years. It's hard to even imagine this - I can't live without my internet and showers... augh!!
Joseph Smith said: "but whenever you see the bow withdrawn, it shall be a token that there shall be famine,
ReplyDeletepestilence and great distress among the nations, and that the coming of the Messiah is not far distant".
Notice he said "bow" not "rainbow". The rainbow is not the sign. That's a misinterpretation based on our present conditions. In the ancient traditions, the "bow" is the crescent, the illuminated limb of a nearby planet in an encounter. The statement by Joseph simply means that all this will be part of a planetary encounter. His is only one of dozens of examples why knowing the original intent of the prophet is so important. We do not have the luxury of imposing our own interpretations on their pronouncements. When we do so, we step off the path and wander away in to the mists of darkness, as Lehi and Nephi noted in their visions of the Tree of Life.
Also, when Joseph had the first vision this is what he learned when he asked which sect was right: "19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof."
I doubt that anything has changed since the first vision so why do you/we take any stock in anything that anyone says (Dewey Bruton for example) other than our own Latter Day Apostles and Prophets?
Just politely asking.
