LOTS OF HUNGRY PEOPLE IN THE NORTHERN IDAHO AREA

This in from the wife of the Bishop who woke me up about 17 years ago:

I don't know if I told you this, but my sister, who lives in NW Idaho, told me that a few years ago the Sandpoint stake and Coeur d' Alene stakes were told to be prepared to help others who would come from the west coast. The members in those two stakes were asked to store things for these people who would be refugees needing help. Recently I asked my sister to remind me of the details. I'm going to check something I've got stored on my computer and then get back to you with a little more info. Oh, and the visiting authorities who, at separate times, presented this to the stakes were Elders Eyring and Uchtdorf. This happened within the past few years.

Here are my sister's words: "Both at Saturday evening sessions. Eyering at Coeur d Alene stake and Uchtdorf at Standpoint stake. They said those areas are to be places of refuge and gathering and to plan accordingly. At a meeting the stake presidents attended with the regional authority they were told to anticipate about 800 people per stake to come as refugees from the coast. This was told to us by someone who was at the meetings while at the cannery."
The scary part is that her Stake currently has no Preparedness Specialist - no plan in place......  Sad.

I made friends in Sandpoint with one of the Elders in one of the wards (he is a converted descendant of  Joseph Smith), and he saw in vision his entire place (20 acres) covered with the tents of refugees from the West Coast.  They have prepped to the 9's - an amazing place.  He became so disenchanted with the ambivalence of the local leadership, that he has kind of done a Denver Snuffer.....  I hope he sticks with it enough to be a useful tool in the Lord's hands.

  1. I live on the West Coast in the Seattle area. This last year, I have been feeling heavily inspired to pack a 72 hour kits for my whole family. I felt really strongly that the 72 hour kits NEED to be in hiking backpacks. I guess I should always keep a full tank of gas in my cars as well.

  2. I'd love to understand what you mean by the last few lines of this post? Are you implying that if he is disenchanted with his local leadership that the Lord couldn't use him to help others survive? If this man was preparing solely because he was encouraged to do so by other men, that would be one thing. But it was obviously, from your own account, that the Lord showed him his role in helping others. Doesn't sound like that was contingent on his being subservient to his leaders, only to God.

    1. I agree with you, Bryce. We need not be commanded in all things. He took this seriously and to heart, it sounds to me.

  4. Perhaps they have preparedness specialists "behind the scenes." As in, not in an official capacity, but on special assignment from the stake president and/or GA's. I can't believe that a stake president would completely ignore specific instructions from an Apostle, for his stake, and be in that calling very long.

  5. I'm across the river from this area and have ever so briefly seen my 80 acres covered with tents. This report has always intrigued me.
