I purchased a book earlier this year from Deseret Industries and it's all about angels. What's interesting is that the three authors are not LDS but in their chapter on the most important angels to know and their roles, they list the Angel Moroni and they call him the North American angel. It's really neat what they write about him. They also talk about the different ranks of angels such as dominions, principalities, virtues etc. and their roles. There are three hierarchies with three ranks in each one. Really fascinating. Helps you realize what you're truly being blessed with in the marriage covenant.Thank you for posting this comment.

ReplyDeleteYou may try "Ask Your Angels," published in 1992. I don't see that it was published by Deseret Book, but it seems to fit some of the points given, including some mentions of Moroni and the multi-faith perspective on angels. I was able to find a preview of it on Google Books.

The book was purchased at Deseret Industries, not Deseret Book, so as a second-hand book it could be from any publisher.

ReplyDeleteYes, the book is Ask Your Angels. I bought it at the D.I and it is in no way affiliated with the church of gospel doctrine. So I extend a caution if you are going to read it, do so with discernment. I have the gift of discernment, so the Lord often shows me truths in the most unexpected places. This book being one of them. I found what it was that I needed to know from the book, but there was a lot that was not relevant for me. Page 34 talks about Angel Moroni and pages 15-20 talk about the ranks. It is an interesting book and as with anything rely on the Spirit while you read. I had been praying to learn more about temple covenants and blessings and one day while at the D.I. I felt prompted to go over to the books (had never before browsed books at the D.I). This book was poking out and I felt I was supposed to buy it. I believe I found what I was supposed to about the angel ranks. Anyways there is a book that you can buy at Deseret Book called, Angels - Agents of Light, Love, and Power by Donald W. Parry. My friend highly recommends it and I have it on my to read list.
ReplyDeleteWOW! A kindred spirit! This stuff happens to me all the time! I ponder deeply on something I want to learn and "poof!", out of nowhere I find books, articles, that are EXACTLY what I was wanting to learn about and my knowledge/testimony is made to grow stronger and brighter. I've always tried to tell others, "Heavenly Father talks to me through books" only to get the deer in the headlights expression. But it's true. I, too, comb through DI and books will just present themselves and I find the tidbits I'm supposed to learn and it all goes into one big lesson on that subject and then I move on.
DeleteHeavenly Father is so cool! I, too, have the gift of discernment. Sometimes it's a burden because I observe MUCH around me that goes unnoticed by others. I wouldn't trade it though. Recognizing truth when it's spoken, written, and sensing evil whether seen or unseen is invaluable. I know I'm being prepared for some type of mission but that hasn't been disclosed yet. Things are getting rather exciting to say the least in this fallen world.

I want to also add that the History Channel's show Ancient Aliens recognizes angel Moroni as a legit Heavenly Messenger and Joseph Smith as a legit prophet. Its a little funny to hear them talk about it in this episode but nonetheless pretty neat that they support it.
