I have a fMIL who spent most of her adult life trying to destroy the marriages of her children - so that, in her misery, she would have company. Most of those children - after seeing her motivations and subtle chicanery, have completely rejected her as their mother and as someone who has their best interests in mind. The mechanism is the same - someone loses the Spirit of the Lord, and people close to them run for the exits. Usually, their marriages do not last - and then they, in their miserable condition (instead of seeking to repent of sin), seek to make others miserable "like unto themselves". This is the MO of the satanically-controlled. And yes, I have witnessed them hearing voices in their heads and the like. It is a sad and lonely place for these folks - at, or near, the rock bottom of the spiritual cesspool.
So, those who have drifted into spiritual oblivion whether in this phase of existence, or a pre-mortal realm, will fight against what is good and right until they are fully "kicking against the pricks". Wickedness NEVER was happiness. End of argument.

I would say Amen to this sisters comments which much more clearly articulate everything that I felt reading the handbook additions. We believe that man will be punished for his own sins and not those of his parents.
ReplyDeleteThere is another reason that the church takes such precaution with people concerning baptism that I think has been overlooked. Baptism is the first sacred covenant we make. And although 8 is the age of accountability to the Lord, MOST children that are baptized live in homes where they are supported in their decision and can keep those covenants. If children or young adults are baptized into a home where they are not able to keep the commandments and covenants they made, they are under greater condemnation than not having made those covenants at all. By not allowing baptism to happen the Lord is being merciful in helping these children/youth not break the covenants they made. When they are old enough to sufficiently keep those covenants, the church allows them that opportunity. In reality it is an act of mercy on the Lord's part.

DeleteUnfortunately many people, members and non, will not understand the purpose behind this and will choose to be offended. Im hoping when the church issues its statement that it will explain that. But it probably wont make much difference...
What is "fMIL"? You frequently throw out acronyms that you invent, then expect us to read your mind.
