SCHEMITAH YEAR REST AND BRIGHAM YOUNG QUOTE

Interesting!!  I had no idea BY was into this stuff and the relation to the grass-hoppers invading Utah.  I have to say I am REALLY intrigued by this!  Thanks to Jennifer for providing the info from Rhonda  H. on our FB discussion board.  Rhonda is a descendant of one of the Pratt brothers and really rocks in my opinion....  How come it is always the ladies leading the curve on this stuff, guys?

Anothering interesting thing of note is that the El Nino/La Nina cycles are roughly based on a seven year peak.  I know that moisture and much else affects these large insect population events:

And lest we think that such things are happenstance and that the principle of the Shemitah doesn’t really pertain to us, listen to the words of Brigham Young speaking about the destruction done to pioneer crops by grasshoppers (that damage being far greater than any caused by crickets), He stated:

"Perhaps many feel a little sober because our bread is cut off, but I am glad of it, because it will be a warning to us, and teach us to lay it up in future, as we have been told. How many times have you been told to store up your wheat against the hard times that are coming upon the nations of the earth? When we first came into these valleys our President told us to lay up stores of all kinds of grain, that the earth might rest once in seven years. The earth is determined to rest, and it is right that it should. It only requires a few grasshoppers to make the earth rest, they can soon clear it. This is the seventh year, did you ever think of it?" (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses Volume 3, page 57. July 13, 1855)
