NOVA LIGHTS UP SKY ON FIRST DAY OF YEAR

Another event from today.  I do not know what it might mean - but I do know that things like this have significance, just as the star of Bethlehem did to herald that event:

As of this morning it was about magnitude 4.6 or so, and still climbing in brightness!

It is evidently a classical nova of the Fe II spectral type, which is typically slower to evolve than the He/N type, and it is common in stars belonging to the galactic bulge.
