A TEST, A TEST IS COMING

Boy, would I ever love to get the follow-on statements to these quotes that would shed just a little more light on the nature of this test.  I have my suspicions or theories - but hey....

From a FB peep that I really respect for his doctrinal/research prowess:

from a prophecy that was quoted by President(s) Kimball, Benson and Hinckley, which is in line with a recent prophecy from Elder Hales, the real testing period (coordinating with the stark prophecies from Isaiah and the Book of Mormon) have not been fulfilled – to date...

In August 16, 1857, Heber C. Kimball stated:

"There will also be a day when you will be brought to the test — when your very hearts and your inmost souls will melt within you because of the scenes that many of you will witness. Yes, you will be brought to that test, when you will feel as if every thing within you would dissolve. Then will be the time you will be tried whether you will stand the test or fall away."

(Remarks by President Heber C. Kimball, Delivered in the Bowery, Great Salt Lake City, Sunday Morning, August 16, 1857. source)

In May of 1868 Heber C. Kimball said:

"An army of Elders will be sent to the four quarters of the earth to search out the righteous and warn the wicked of what is coming. All kinds of religions will be started and miracles performed that will deceive the very elect if that were possible.

"Our sons and daughters must live pure lives so as to be prepared for what is coming.

"After a while the Gentiles will gather by the thousands to this place, and Salt Lake City will be classed among the wicked cities of the world. A spirit of speculation and extravagance will take possession of the Saints, and the results will be financial bondage.

"Persecution comes next and all true Latter-day Saints will be tested to the limit. Many will apostatize and others will be still not knowing what to do. Darkness will cover the earth and gross darkness the minds of the people. The judgments of God will be poured out on the wicked to the extent that our Elders from far and near will be called home, or in other words the gospel will be taken from the Gentiles and later on carried to the Jews.

"The western boundary of the State of Missouri will be swept so clean of its inhabitants that as President Young tells us, when you return to that place, there will not be left so much as a yellow dog to wag his tail.

"Before that day comes, however, the Saints will be put to a test that will try the integrity of the best of them. The pressure will become so great that the more righteous among them will cry unto the Lord day and night until deliverance comes.

"Yes, we think we are secure here in the chambers of these everlasting hills, where we can close the doors of the canyons against mobs and persecutors, the wicked and the vile, who have always beset us with violence and robbery, but I want to say to you, my brethren, that the time is coming when we will be mixed up in these now peaceful valleys to that extent that it will be difficult to tell the face of a Saint from the face of an enemy against the people of God.

"Then is the time to look out for the great sieve, for there will be a great shifting time, and many will fall. For I say unto you there is a test, a Test, a TEST coming.

"This Church has before it many close places through which it will have to pass before the work of God is crowned with glory. The difficulties will be of such a character that the man or woman who does not possess a personal knowledge or witness will fall. If you have not got this testimony, you must live right and call upon the Lord, and cease not until you obtain it.

"Remember these sayings: The time will come when no man or woman will be able to endure on borrowed light. Each will have to be guided by the light within themselves. If you do not have the knowledge that Jesus is the Christ, how can you stand?"

(Heber C. Kimball, First Counselor in the First Presidency, May 1868, in Deseret News, 23 May 1931; see also Conference Report, Oct. 1930, p. 58-59)

  1. Much of what he is saying, most members of this church will not understand. The key is in the the last two paragraphs quoted. This Church, refers to it's people and not the corporation that was set up later. Most "tests" set forth from God, come from within, even in this church or body of believers and not without. If one doesn't have this "personal knowledge or witness" they will fall and become deceived. YOU cannot endure on borrowed light, even that light from church leaders (2 Nephi 4:34). The "light within themselves" come from only one source and He employed no servant at that gate.
REPENT and turn to the Lord and seek His counsel, for the time of this test is already upon us, for narrow is that gate that leads to Eternal salvation.

  2. I REALLY wish you would tell us your thoughts on what you think the test may be...could help us to recognize more easily. Also, to "Anonymous" who posted the first comment, I would love you to be more direct on what you think this test, that is already upon us is...may help a few of us.

  3. I believe the test... is the same test ot has always been. Will we choose God above all else. Will we share what he has blessed us with. Will we acknowledge his hand in every thing in our lives.... and accept the bad things as lessons for our good.... instead of cursing God in our misfortune. Will we actually be faithful when it really counts. Do we give of our best 10%... or the leftovers

  4. The test before we came to this world occurred as we had to decide between God or Satan as to whom we would follow before he was finally cast from Heaven to the earth.

This was an internal debate and decision made in the House of God (Heaven). Joseph Smith tells us this same War in Heaven is being reenacted upon the earth.

I suppose the "Test" arises when Satan again presents himself as God, first before the Lord's Covenant People in His Church and then the world. Thus the Lord's statement in D&C112...."Upon MY HOUSE shall judgment begin".

2ond Thessalonians presents this confrontation between man and a false God (Man of sin who seats himself in the temple of God as though he were God).

So it becomes rather obvious that Satan is to make his earthly appearance in the body of a well known Prophet of the Lord's Church whom most members and the world would accept as legitimate and thus cause God's People and the world to believe in the "Big Lie & Delusion" sent upon us by God to CAUSE the SEPARATION between the Wheat & Tares....Those who refuse to accept this false God and cry out to God for HELP, from those who ACCEPT this false God and persecute the Righteous.

The Big "Test"....Who will we BELIEVE ?....Satan, a wolf in sheep's clothing (Satan incarnate in the possessed body of a former Prophet of God ) ? Or do we go with whom God sends from Heaven to oppose this false God as per D&C 85....The "One Mighty & Strong"?
