THE METHUSELAH AND DAMASCUS CONNECTION

Found this on LDSFF.

While I disagree with his 1-4 enough to simply ignore them, I thought Item 5 made an interesting connection and the following items were noteworthy:

5. Just like death of Methuselah (oldest man) was the sign of the Flood. Isa 17:1-3 suggests the destruction of Damascus (oldest city) will be the sign of the Burning of Babylon. Destruction will come suddenly "In the eventide trouble and before the morning he [Jacob] is not" (v.14).

6. The Events of the Book of Mormon beginning with not just Helaman but the Burning of Abinadi in Mosiah, followed by Captivity in Helam vs Nephi, followed by the mass conversion of the Mulekites (Jews) to be Nephites (Ephraim) may all be types amd shadows of the last days. (Will there be a Abinidi's burning event?)

7. According to the Pres. George Albert Smith Vision there must be some sort of gun confiscation which with all the random shootings we could see shortly.

8. There may be some sort of false flag like 911 to get the US in Iran and Syria. Daniel foretells that Alexander the Great and Greece would be divided into 4 after Alexander would go to war with the Medes and Persians. Will history repeat itself?

9. Instead of a domestic false flag, maybe war with Iran and Syria will start with Israel and then America will be drug in after Iran scuds US military bases. (not sure)

10. There will not be a "call out". Survivors will not live by a nuclear target and will have food and water saved to survive a period of nuclear fallout. The survivors will be the prepared and the cannibal. After the fallout, the prepared Saints will then gather together at the Stakes Centers for protection from the cannibal packs and then slowly be migrated to the center place of Zion. The unwise will "bug out" and isolate themselves making themselves easy prey. Even prepper groups will be plagued by political infighting. Those who fail to gather in Zion will be at war with their neighbor.

  1. I really try to avoid personal attacks on people, but who is this guy? Is he compeltley void of the spirit? point 10 is ridiculous! If you live near a nuclear target "your toast"? The logic does not come from God!

The Lord has promised he will gather and his saints 'even as a hen gathereth her chics". There is promise of protection! Even if you live by a nuclear target. I know many valiant souls who live by nuclear sites,(prime targets for nuclear strike). Does that mean myself and every other Mormon (including temple presidents, stake presidents, bishops and not to mention faithful latter-day saints) are just out of luck? It is evident that if people cannot see this comment for what it is, than you have no light in you.

There will be a call out! and it will come via the Spirit of God, and if we are lucky perhaps through a prophet. It will be following the direction of that Spirit that will save you, not food and water. You can have all the food and water you want, but if you have not learned to listen to the Spirit you will fall. It will not be food and water that determines who the "survivors" are! It will be God! Having said that, I have over 2 years of food and supplies. I do it to follow God's command, to be self reliant and self sustaining. But I also recognize that, if I place my faith in my preparations (the arm of flesh) I will fall. It will be the Spirit of God that will save me and my family. Because we have food and water, it will be easier to hear and focus and follow the Spirit.

Having said all this, I wish people like this would just be quiet and keep their "philosophies of men, mingled with scripture" to themselves.

    1. Good thinking, like your points.

    2. I will have to agree with William...I strive daily with those who choose to not follow the Spirit, and do so only to try and help them recognize His influence that they too can "hear" the voice of warning

  2. Items 5-9 are quite intresting.

A agree # 10 is total bunk. A call out will happen. I think the church will do a call out but there will also be those who are warned of the spirit to go to places of refuge. How many times in history has this happend? Noah, Moses, Lehi, other groups that claim to have left Jerlusalam etc. As william stated we will be gathered under the protective wing of father. 3 Nephi 10 states this 4 times in one three verse block.

    1. Moses had to leave, but apparently Jethro his Father in Law and High Priest of Median did not. Various groups may get called out, others may stay in place. Others, like you say, will be lead by the spirit regarding what to do for their family, in their circumstances, with their skill sets and temperament.

  3. I'm confused. So there will be a calling out via Priesthood channels to avoid destruction, and we go where...Utah?...The place that will be leveled per spencer? Also, I've given this a lot of thought...we are to have 3 MONTHS of food we typically eat, and then "a longer term supply" of food that will sustain life per LDS.org and Provident Living. This is all per our "Modern Prophets", who have the latest counsel and revelation. So the main question is "WHAT NEXT"??? If destruction comes, and we only have 3-12 mos of food, many will starve. Those that last this long, WHAT's NEXT for them? Do we rebuild society from the ground up, and forage for nuclear radiated berries in the mean while? The counsel we recieve from our local ward and stake leadership, along as that we get at general conference don't even make the inference that we may be "called out" to head for the hills, but rather that we are to reside where we are and "build up zion" where we each live. Spread the Gospel. Be a good neighbor. Raise our families in righteousness. Man is that he might have JOY! Where's the "JOY" in doomsday talk and building underground bunkers??? I'm serious. Please provide an intelligent response without calling anybody a "troll".

    1. Frankly I have a difficult time believing you are not a troll when you put modern prophets in quotes. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t have a meaningful exchange. I can understand your confusion. Particularly in light of this month’s article by a modern prophet, Elder Jeffery R. Holland, wherein he said, “In these last days, in our dispensation, we have become mature enough to stop running. We have become mature enough to plant our feet and our families and our foundations in every nation, kindred, tongue, and people permanently” (Ensign, June 2014).
I am hopeful that the following story might clarify how God works through revelation. Prior to the birth of my youngest daughter I was told by the Spirit that we would have a new addition to our family. Because we have two adopted children I was expecting a call from the adoption agency. However, a miracle occurred and my wife got pregnant.
Heavenly Father always takes care of those who are faithful. We may not all survive and I’m okay with that. It doesn’t matter whether I live in Christ or die in Christ as long as I have a firm testimony of the gospel and have done my best to keep God’s commandments. I believe for those who put honest effort into following the prophets they will be spared just as Daniel was and just as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego were.
You stated that you gave this issue of a call out a lot of thought which is good. I don’t want to discredit your thoughts. However, did you give the issue a lot of study and prayer? The point of my story is that the Holy Ghost moves on us and, although we might believe God will answer our prayers in a certain way, our assumptions are not always right. Just because we’ve become mature enough to stop running doesn’t mean there won’t be a need to hide—which is what the call out would be.
It’s true that the authors who say there will be a callout are not our priesthood leaders who have authority over us. However, that doesn’t mean their words are not true. Paul reminded us “In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established” (2 Corinthians 13:1). In the case of the call out there are numerous witnesses. In the end it doesn’t matter if you believe there will be a call out or not as long as you’re willing to go when those who have priesthood authority over us tells us to go.
I also want to ask how much joy you would have knowing you could have protected yourself and your family but chose not to. It’s a joyful experience to have your life protected because you were obedient to Heavenly Father. It’s a horrible feeling knowing pain and suffering could have been avoided by small and simple things.

  4. There will be a gathering of God's sheep, or a "call out," but it will come from the "one like unto Moses" as the scriptures testify. Why is he like Moses? Because he will gather the people like Moses did.

If God has told you to prepare yourself and your family, great, do whatever the spirit directs. But I believe that God will have all things ready for his people. We will not need to rely on man for anything.

The most important thing is to be familiar with God's voice. If you recognize his voice all will be well. A great test is coming and it will all come down to recognizing God's voice and being obedient to the spirit.

  5. I believe there will be a call out. How it happens and who is invited I am not sure. I believe that food storage is part of it, but not the deciding line. I could be a horrible saint, but because I have my year supply means I get spared? I don't buy it.
Logically think, and I believe Father is a man of logic, If you need to rebuild society, as we will, don't we want the best and brightest, as well as most obedient and righteous?

I believe the Lord has a special plan for his chosen children, and they will be spared. We see that over and over in the scriptures. But what dictates the requirements to be chosen is more than food storage. It is a part, but not the only factor.

Also, I don't think that being a mindless drone is the path of righteousness either. God gave us brains to think. He gave us free agency to act. The whole plan of salvation is based on these two ideals. Why glory have we by shutting off our brains and letting someone else tell us what to do. Blessed is the obedient, but more blessed is he that understands and doeth without being told.

  6. There is going to be something similar to a "call out" though I have the feeling it will be in and around the Temples outside of Utah plus other church owned land (like La Guarda east of Mexico City), and up in the mountains for those in the Intermountain West.

President Monson is desperate to get as many members as close to the temple as they can. That is why there is the benchmark of nearly 90 percent of Church members living within 200 miles of a temple.

I would not be surprised to see a parallel gathering of our brothers in the Ten Tribes in the north of Siberia. Lots of empty land there too and even groups of thousands wouldn't really be noticed there because it is lots of forest and quite inhospitable (except for the forest part).

200 miles is three hours driving distance on a freeway. Or ten days walking distance (if you are strenuous enough you could cut it down to five, or for the older folks you might need three weeks).

I see places like LaGuarda down in Mexico DEFINTELY being used, as well as a similar camp recently placed near Monterrey. The colonies in Chihuahua also have their places...
