IF THE PROPHET IS NOT SAYING IT, THEN IT IS NOT HAPPENING

I have a roomie that is the nephew of a GA.  This roomie thinks I am apostate for most of the stuff on the blog - even though it is in direct alignment with all other previous statements and sayings of the Brethren.  Most people do not know the doctrine (or sayings) to the point that I am constantly telling them new things that they have never before considered - but are more than happy to inform me that I am out of line and full of it.  The height of arrogance.  I do not do it to make them feel small - or out of arrogance on my part - I do it so that eyes may be opened.  When rejected, I usually clam up.  That is the end of my "ministration" to them - and they are left to their own devices.  Some are blinded spiritually; some literally.  It would be better to be physically blind, than to be spiritually blinded by the philosophies of men, mingled with scripture.

I have to say, I am fed up.  This LDSFF statement sums up much of what I feel:
The 60s, 70s and 80s. I believe October 1988 was our last warning from a Prophet to the whole Church. And nothing really clarion that I know of since President Packer's warning in the August 2010 Ensign. I sometimes wonder if we are still under the Lord's commandment to awake to a sense of our awful situation and suffer not that the murderous combinations get above us. I truly wonder if we are now exempt from that charge to learn the principles of the Constitution in the tradition of the Founding Fathers. If we are still under those responsibilities I would expect the Prophet to insure that all members are aware of it. It does trouble me when local leaders especially say that if the Prophet is not talking about these things we need not bother with them, and even say we should leave them alone. I know of so many members of the Church who want nothing to do with these issues. Are they gonna lose their exaltation because they didn't get informed as many of us have been ?

  1. There is a place for various levels of understanding for the various types of people who are all striving to be like Christ. Level X is not necessarily better than level Z due to the responsibility principle and concomitant judgement based upon actual knowledge and testimony - not just having lots of information available.
Our responsibility is to teach one another, strengthen one another, bless one another, and forgive one another. The long suffering of Christ, for which I do not deserve but am grateful for, is instrumental in helping me to be patient with people who have both lesser and greater knowledge than myself as long as they are all sincerely striving to do better, be better, and become better.

  3. It is still an important and necessary work to do however the biggest problem is follow the living prophet and the dead ones don't matter. This has minimized those who have come before and had a lot to say on numerous topics including politics and other Meat principals. There are little groups of people in the church and out of it who are doing this work but it is much harder to do some things and have a real impact when those in your neighborhood your ward or church have been dumbed down and led to believe that separation of church and state means church stay out of government but government get in to church. All of the principles of the gospel are important not just the easy stuff. We have got to stop running and start standing firm or the church will continue to be watered down and we will be wishing for milk. Bring on the meat!!

  4. Wade Smith,
There are two sets of fools in the scriptures. 5 were virgins waiting for the bride groom. The rest are mockers. President Packer also stated that the "great and spacious building" is now in the homes of the members. Mormon and Moroni lament that the "Holy Church" (the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?) is defiled and full of covenant breakers. People who Nephi says are "ever learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. When 80% of return missionaries have a serious porn problem, can we seriously expect them or the people they are drawn to to Mary have the ability to properly discern the scriptures? Or the youth of the rising generation (which come to find out was the most wicked of all generations just prior to Jesus Christ visiting America, and who was to blame for all the destruction), who have serious porn problems, morality problems and revile. We are watching what I call the 90/9/1 paradigm. 90% of the LDS community are hearers of the word, 10% are doers of the word and 1% will be chosen to build Zion (thanks to Nephi pointing us to Isaiah). Rant over. Thanks for listening. wadesmith@cox.net

  5. Now that the church is largely global, there's so much that the Brethren cannot say. They avoid politics. They don't even talk about food storage any more, because they cannot advise the member in Haiti to store a years supply, or even a week's supply, and expect the counsel to be followed. The Brethren can only talk behavior and gospel. It's a shame, really. I miss the days of Benson. We members in the U.S. will have to do much of the social/political stuff on our own. I suppose the day's coming when the Brethren can no longer keep quiet, when the progressive agenda begins to interfere with the plan of salvation. Maybe that's when God intervenes and all heck breaks loose.
