There is obviously some confusion out there. I even heard it again from my apostate MIL tonight; "the end is not near because the gospel has to go to every nation" (eyes rolling into the back of my head....).
NOOOOOO!!!! The gospel will finish going to every nation when the 144,000 take it to them after the heathen nations are opened due to war - WWIII. This will be the final gathering before the fields are burned prior to the Lord's coming in glory (the coming that no man knows the hour of) when the Father judges all nations and declares the work to be finished and the Millennial peace can begin.
Here is the quote:
Prophecy of Joseph Smith, as recorded by Parley P. Pratt (January 21, 1841):
The
government is fallen and needs redeeming. It is guilty of blood and
cannot stand as it is now is, but will come so near desolation as to
hang as it were by a single hair! Then the servants go to the nations of
the earth, and gather the strength of the Lord's house! A mighty army!
And this is the redemption of Zion when the saints shall have redeemed
that government and reinstated it in all its purity and glory![D&C
101:43]

Maybe the Gospel has gone to every nation, maybe there has been no rainbow ... I think that some of us think we know how prophecy is going to be accomplished and that we will see it for ourselves. maybe the gospel has gone to every nation, maybe it was the broadcasting of the gospel discussions over satellite to the world and every nation, maybe it was printing of the book of Mormon in all its languages. As to no rainbow, It could have been one of the droughts in other nations. I have friends who believe they know how prophecy will be accomplished, well be humble and accept that we may not know, rely on the spirit.
