Drawing attention to the quote on the right side of the blog - this quote pretty much describes my journey....... I think my soft fuzzy troll is just really worried and a little confused. Anger is a natural response; a natural response to the shock of waking and realizing their awful situation. The reason we have to be watching and waiting is that our calamity will come upon us in one day. I just read D&C 29/45 this morning and will do a piece on some thoughts I have on that great doom scrip.
Here it is:
WHY SHOULD WE STUDY THE HIDDEN THINGS RELATED TO THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST?
But the
Latter-day Saints are not in darkness; they are the children of
light, although many of us will actually be asleep. We shall have to
wake up and trim up our lamps, or we shall not be prepared to enter
in; for we shall all slumber and sleep in that day, and some will
have gone to sleep from which they will not awake until they awake
up in darkness without any oil in their lamps. But, as a general thing,
the Saints will understand the signs of the times. Others have their
eyes closed upon the prophecies of the ancient Prophets; and not
only that, but they are void of the spirit of prophecy themselves.
When a man has this, though he may appeal to ancient Prophets to get
understanding on some subjects he does not clearly understand, yet, as
he has the spirit of prophecy in himself, he will not be in
darkness; he will have a knowledge of the signs of the times; he
will have a knowledge of the house of Israel, and of Zion, of the ten
tribes and of many things and purposes and events that are to take
place on the earth; and he will see coming events, and can say such
an event will take place, and after that another, and then another;
and after that the trumpet shall sound, and after that certain
things will take place, and then another trump shall sound, &c.,
&c.; and he will have his eye fixed on the signs of the times,
and that day will not overtake him unawares.
JD, O PRATT 7:190
I referenced that quote on my blog. It is a powerful quote and I have been paying more attention to the signs of the Second Coming along with my wife. I was the person who asked for information about good material for the Second Coming to study with my wife.
ReplyDeleteI don't go off with stuff with DS or others though, just trying to stick to what the prophets and apostles have said about this.
President Hinckley spoke of the need to refurbish the tabernacle to be seismologically more resistent about 10 years ago. That was enough for me to think there's going to be a big quake there. When? Don't know. But it will be soon.
I also look at other identifying features of the End Times in other Abrahamic thoughts as well. It is interesting that the Christians, the Jews, us, and the Muslims, are pointing right at these times. Also interesting is the fact that many churches are getting split up over something which the Bible calls a grievous abomination and which the old Jewish rabbis said caused the flood of Noah.
My awakening started around 2008 or so, and intensified in 2011 when my father in law, at that time an a-70 told me that all of the General Authorites are aware of the corruption in high places, and the Church is waiting for the right moment to make itself more revealed to the world at large, but it wasn't going to happen just yet because the Church was still in a comparatively weak position. Elder Ballard of the Twelve is quoted as saying that very soon the Church would be the only light in the darkness, and when the people saw that they would be coming to the Church in droves.
For that the increase in missionaries. For that the sense of urgency not only to get more missionaries out in the field, but to make as many countries as self sufficient as necessary before the Lord drops the boom on the late great USA.
The only qualm I have with this and other blogs is that sometimes there is too much emphasis on what will happen to America, while not realizing that there are nearly 9 million LDS outside of America, and they too might be interested in seeing what could happen in their lands...but this is a good blog.
Ignore the trolls. Cement your testimony in Christ. Continue to fulfull your priesthood duty as stated in Ezekiel 33, and you will find peace.
Samizdat
I agree with the above comment. Far too much focus on America, Utah, and the west coast. The Church is BIG. I agree with being prepared, not a question for me. There must be 2-3 million LDS's on the west coast. I don't think the Lord is going to waste all those mostly good people. While this blog has a lot of good information, and much that is factually based, I find it disturbing that so much weight is placed on "Spencer", as if he is the Prophet. He is not. Much of the stuff "Spencer" says is wrong, but people continually defend what he says as the truth. These folks do not understand priesthood authority and how doctrine is established apparently. Over all, I find a rather unhealthy reliance on "Spencer" in this blog, rather than what the LIVING PROPHET's have to say on matters concerning the last days. Remember, the Living Prophet trumps ancient prophets. Yet, bad things will happen, I just think they will be much different than what "Spencer" says. I still say the best thing to do is to follow your local leaders direction (stake president) and the direction of the Brethren, and basically look at "Spencer" as a fictional character with an interesting story to tell. Keep things in proper perspective...The Living Prophets are First.
