I have to add more info - now that Snuffer has been officially "snuffed". Apparently he posted on his blog that he got the letter. That is too bad - I liked the guy in many respects; but I have to wonder how many of his "followers" were affected by some of the vitriol and how that "lying spirit" found its way into the attitudes of the apostates on LDSFF. If I am an apostate of a group who follows an apostate (off the doctrinal cliff, I might add), then that makes me on the straight and narrow - at least if I have that straight.....
I notice that some of the talk on LDSFF today - with the latest revelation on Snuffer - is a little nervous.
Especially considering that the site no doubt has been "infiltrated" by members of the Correlation Committee....lol Could there be a cascading effect? I have a few names I would like to submit for consideration....LOL I would save Aussie's for last - so that he could have more time to pull his head out of the "down under" areas and bring it around. But only because I like him.
So, earlier while jumping in the dog pile on Denver - and kicking someone who was already down, I mentioned that we part ways where he makes the assertion that Brigham Young was "off" by pursuing a polygamous route after the martyrdom of Joseph Smith - almost doing it with RLDS fervor...... I still maintain my suspicions of anyone who has their jumping off points. The RLDS abandoned ship when Captain Brigham came along. Emma and sons made a pretty solid company there. The next to jump ship were the FLDS when Captain Wilford Woodruff gave the call to abandon ship. Actually, I would have to say that the FLDS held the wheel while the rest of the posse jumped ship and gave up on plural marriage. The problem was that the good Captain Woodruff went overboard only after he saw that his good mates had seen the seas coming upon them and jumped ship. They were incapable of taking the helm in the rough seas and jumped. Scriptural accounts have shown us time and again how the will of the people have to be followed by the leadership when wickedness becomes general. I just read in Ether this morning how, once again in the BoM narrative, the people unwisely chose a king and it led to the destruction of the Jaredite nations. The leadership caves to the will of the wicked supermajority. What are they to do? FORCE the will of the people to accept righteousness? Not in the economy of God to do so! So God, not being some mean, vengeful, nasty being, has to wait patitently until the people are ripe - and then wipe them out. Or, better said, allow a mechanism into the timeline that provides for them being wiped out, such as the Lamanites, the Babylonians, the Syrians (history repeats ittself.....) and all those other foes that seem to come out of nowhere and do mayhem. There is always someone to take care of the dirty work as the wicked kill the wicked.
So, with what proof do I back up my assertions that BY was not off the tracks? Like President Obama and chemical weapons proof, I cannot present it right now. Its on a tape that I cannot reasonably make into a format that can be used on the blog right now. This tape is a story of many about the miracles and promises associated with the building of and the early years of the Logan Temple. The first temple president, President Merrill was a polygamist. He was constantly on the run from U.S. Marshalls who wanted to take him in and make him a guest of the "Sugarhouse Hilton" with all the other prominent Mormon leaders of the day. President Merrill was so worried about being caught that he would often stay in hiding (sleep and eat) in the Temple so he did not have to go home if things were a little too sticky on the outside. Things were so secretive that a secret hiding "bunker" was found dug just outside the basement walls of the temple - the hidey hole roof caved in when workmen were doing work in a parking lot outside the known footprint of the temple proper. It was accessed through a secret passage from a room in the basement - just in case the marshalls ever made good on their promise to bust in and take possession of all the sealing records on the third floor - and thus providing proof of all the extra-legal marriages that had been performed in that edifice. Arrests and convictions under the new harrassing laws would be a matter of simple execution with that evidence in hand.
The temple historian recorded that one night, after a confrontation with the marshalls (picture an 1880's SWAT team), President Merrill stayed in the temple and did not cease to pray all evening and night. The next morning, instead of marshalls on the steps of the building, a large Nephite warrior in full battle regalia was stationed there. Passing thru the various portals of the temple, including at the records office on the third floor, there were several more warriors stationed at each place. The US Marshalls never did manifest themselves. The temple historian surmises that they had come, but wisely decided not to go any further at the behest of the warrior at the front doors.
God is a God of order. God does NOT reward the wicked with afforded protections or privileges. He simply withdraws himself and his Spirit and leaves them to themselves until they get some good sense in their head. I parent this way. When I had a kid that refused to listen to his parent to come along, I just left him there and went along. When the kid realized that I was rounding a corner and he could not see me, he was finally convinced I was not messing around and suddenly came running to the corner. Only to stay there until I had gone around another corner. He is still this way to this day. God allows us to be "abducted" and sometimes buffeted by the adversary until we are humble and pliable enough that we can be used as clay in His hands.
If any one of us WERE doing something of an egregious nature - such as fornication, adultery, etc - or polygamy, if it were truly a sin - and it would be on the same level with either one of those - then we simply would NEVER have the luxury of having terrestrial beings sent to our aid as resurrected beings. I have not had a miracle like this (that I am aware of, anyway). Have you?? Has Denver Snuffer? I would say most likely not - of if he had a visitation in the past before he alluded to BY's departure, has he had one since? I would say not. God only allows signs to bolster the faith of those who have a believing spirit. If one has the lying or murderous (crucifying Christ anew in the flesh) spirit of Cain, they will NEVER be afforded those experiences. So, I hope and pray for Denver. He is an amazing man. No one gets that many followers without doing something right. Some may get them by back-pedaling and priestcraft to a feminist organization who would refuse to admit God's hand in all things - including endorsing and upholding those who "do the works that Abraham did". And for the record - Jesus did them, Jacob did them and they were all pretty top-notch people. If you cannot swallow that pill, I am sorry for you. Time (if we have very much left) will leave you in possession of the truth and a way to understand it - if you move forward with faith. I have seen God work in my wife's life in this way on this subject. The bottom line is, no matter how badly you want something, wishing it would go away will not make it do so. And fuggedabout joining up with the Community of Christ to make the "P" question disappear....... The religion is withering and dying quickly on the vine. No matter how radically they change their doctrine - there is no hope for them and I predict the LDS Church will end up buying their two shares of the Temple Lot in Independence, MO very shortly. In some ways it is sad - but no moreso than the Jews finally building their Temple to their Savior after the Dome of the Rock is no more.....
I enjoyed this and agree that Brigham was a prophet of God. I do believe Denver Snuffer has some great things to say but I 100% agree that its the people who are at fault, not the leaders, have you ever read James Cusher, http://www.jamescuster.com/essay.html, he is more along these lines and his wife will send you his essays, opened my eyes!
ReplyDeleteIf you read Snuffer carefully on the topic of polygamy, he re-iterates the rules laid forth in scripture:
ReplyDelete1. Taking a polygamous wife requires approval from the Lord
2. Taking a polygamous wife requires approval from first/previous wives
What he points out is that this was almost never done, and that was the problem. Many tender hearts were broken in Utah, just as they were in Jacob's day.
Funny Snuffer should be ex'd for simply pointing out things in scripture & history. What will be people be ex'd for next? The definition of apostate is being very liberally applied these days. The RLDS church isn't the only one dying on the vine...
