A SHOUT OUT TO ALL APOSTATES

I went on LDSFF to see who posted a link to my "SNUFFER SNUFFED" blogpiece.  I actually got a visit from AussieOI - one of my most favorite apostates from LDSFF.  Yes, I do have a soft spot for the guy.  Mostly, I have contempt for the anti's and attack them as a matter of course in order to expose the wolf in the soft, woolly covering - but I do have a soft spot for Aussie.  I do not do it to be harsh - just to shake them out of the state they are in.  If I can save one, then it was worth taking a little damage over with hater comments, etc.  I have a simple way to measure them (we cannot pass final judgment - but we MUST pass interrim judgments all day long as we choose our friends, spouses, subordinates at work, etc).  The key is to find good men and women that they are attempting to shoot down and put them side by side - and rate them.  Not as man rates them - but as God does, using the scriptures as a yard stick.  Where one or both are deceased, I have to rely on their written statements.  I am reading Fate of the Persecutors of the Prophet Joseph Smith and am weighing many people found within its cover - and I have found NO ONE who matches the mere mortal of Joseph Smith.  Of course, no one can match the character and wisdom of the Savior.  Few alive today could have accomplished what Brigham Young did in his day.

So, when I find one of the lesser beings on this blue space marble attacking the character of one of these individuals, I just put them side by side.  Mostly, I just get a good laugh and then break into mocking of them for their stupidity as they NEVER hold a candle to any of these greats.  Usually, they are dwarfed in orders of magnitude and the comparison is downright hilarious.  It is easy for a diminutive being to take potshots at someone who is not here to defend themselves.  It is petty human nature, in fact, to do so.  Very telestial of the person, to be sure.  So mostly, I ignore them.  I have better things to waste my time on.  I yawn - and then move on.

I will share many thoughts from Fate of the Persecutors in the coming weeks.  I think there is much to be learned from that book - many lessons the wise and learned and intellectual crowd could take to heart.  It is better to learn by introspection than from learning through the things that they must suffer.  One day, we will meet all the greats - and we will feel sheepish if we find them in the bosom of the Savior - and find that our ridiculous mis-guided statements have distanced us from the very Being they were attempting to help us to get closer to.

  1. Ah, yes. AussiOi. It was the likes of him and the gaggle of Leftist progressives that got me banned from LDSFF. I assume I'm in good company. :)

  2. I still post on LDSFF occasionally, but there has been quite the influx of apostates there recently.

As for the book you have referenced, I have read it, and it is a great book.

I'm not sure if you heard Elder Nelson's discourse the other day. It was a great talk aimed at the youth with eternal truths taught. He was quite blunt to put it.
